Credit goes to hukd user "apple picker" for finding this deal. I was thinking of getting the HP laptop but thought this was a better deal at £425 pounds. Sadly I missed the John Lewis Dell laptop offer yesterday, so I got this instead. I don't think there are any real bargain deals going around anymore.

Anyone with laptop experience able to tell us about the reliability of Acer recently?
I have about 10 years IT experience and my avoid at any costs brands = Acer, Mcaffe, Norton.
That still the case? Cant find any reliablity stats online that seem reliable and not a sales page.

How does this deal compare with the lenovo Ideapad 310 i7 8GB 1TB from Argos?
Thanks snow18. Have been looking non stop for 5 days now and finally made a purchase. As for the links above: great value and specs but no ssd ruled all of them out for me.

Shame it's Acer, probably comes with squeaky hinges and snapped battery locks straight from the factory. Great deal if you are delicate, if your wife (or God forbid the kids) are likely to get anywhere near it best off looking elsewhere!

you could be right.
I've only had dell laptops before and they survive almost any smaller accidents/drops.

I got the email confirmation straight away so I'd email them if it's still not through. If you got a confirmation number then I can't imagine any problem.

Spec wise this is better, i5 7200u is faster than the i7 6500u, graphics are a step up (intel HD620 vs HD520) both will generally be poor with current AAA games though, the ssd will also boot faster. my only concern is the build quality of acer and looking on site, this laptop seems to switch between 1080p screen on one page and then a 720p screen on another,if it's not actual FullHD then argos will be a better deal as a FHD screen usually adds £100 to laptops. my two cents.

Guys, be careful, i think this laptop might actually a 720p screen. it seems like they've changed the spec, the part NX code from the original screen shot seems to be gone. Either a mistake or they some how sold out the 1080p version. Double check before buying

£425 for this or £700 for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 i5 128GB:
Looks like someone has seen the mistake. Clicking on anything other than add to basket, just reloads the page.
On any other laptop, it goes to the correct page.
I have added it to my basket and the model number is correct.
Part# NX.GFKEK.014
Google the part and there is a sales Acer page, it does not work, again going to the list of laptops. F15
However, if you view the cached page, it comes up correctly with the specification. Tempted to risk buying as they should honour it, but bet they could just cancel due to price error.

Received an email from Acer saying it is being delivered by DHL from Poland. I've checked the DHL website and it says the shipment will be delivered onFriday evening.
Really surprised it is being sent from Poland, thought it is UK stock.

I cancelled my order and it is showing as cancelled on the website. I didn't receive an email from Acer but I got a text from dhl that my parcel will be delivered Friday. I checked my credit card and it has been charged. I am not happy at all. Gonna call them to see what's happening

Arrived this afternoon. I can confirm that it's definitely FHD. The brushed aluminium cover looks good. The keyboard layout not so good, especially the Enter and left Shift keys are too small.
Will need more time to see how it goes.

Acer is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I placed this order with 4 year insurance but then cancelled it pretty much instantly because I decided to go for the HP. I received and email from Acer saying your order has been cancelled. Fine. Then when I checked my credit card couple of days later my card had still been charged even though order online said cancelled. Then I got in touch with Acer and they said not sure why that happen. Will email manager for refund. Couple of days past and nothing. Called again and they said we will send email again and it will take a couple of working days. So anyway today I checked again and money for laptop was refunded but not the money for the insurance. I called again and she said same thing. I will email manager but we don't normally refund insurance. How ridiculous. How can they charge me for something that was cancelled and I never received. I'm fuming.
