I fitted one in my current house, but due to moving, I had to buy another one

Would an aluminium one be a bit lighter and easier to manoeuvre? Looking at an Abru easystow at about the same price.

The aluminium version is indeed lighter, but the wooden one is more substantial as a consequence. Once installed the only manoeuvring required is to release the door catch, lower the included trap door (with the supplied pole hook), and then unfold the ladder to the floor. To restow, simply refold the ladder and latch the door with the pole hook (the door/ladder assembly is spring tensioned and thus assists you). I've no idea how that compares with the aluminium version though. Hope that helps.

Agreed, installation pretty straightforward and result is a professional looking installation. Going into my loft is almost a joy now.
