I think the warm Vs cool is a personal thing. If you want ligth that looks like a halogen go for the high lumen output warm LEDs. Screwfix have some 3xx Lumen LED GU10 glass that are smaller than plastic cased GU10. You might want those if the larger plastic ones do not fit your holders. For recessed ceiling mounted GU10 the cheaper plastic ones are fine as there is more space. For spots and external holders the smaller more expensive glass LEDs might be worth considering.

Just bought some of the Wickes ones which are normally £39.80 for 20. Offer is buy one get one free so 40 for £39.80.
I got the 5W warm white at 350 lumens and the output is nearly identical to the halogens they replaced. Beam angle is stated at 36 degrees which is ideal as I have them in spotlights not downlighters. Well chuffed. The only think I am not sure on is the warranty. Wickes were useless referring me to the website - which doesn't state anything. If a few give out within a year I will take them back and argue the toss as it says 25000 hours life.
For those contemplating the Toolstation deal remember that the quoted equivalent is only 25W whereas this deal and the Wickes ones are 50W. Wickes also do smaller pack sizes so a 6 pack is £14.99 with 6 free so 12 for £14.99 or 10 pack for 24.99 with 10 free so 20 for £24.99 making them slightly more expensive at £1.25 per bulb. Sorry to hijack this deal but, just wanted to update folks interested.

Toolstation have 2.5 watt 280 lumen GU10's for £6.98 for a pack of 5 at the moment. The screwfix 4.7 watt ones use a bit too much electric for my liking and only output 345 lumens

I have installed LAP GU 10 led bulbs and fittings over past 5 years and have found them to be reliable and long lasting and of good quality unlike some internet options , heat from me!

What is the warranty period for Wickes bulbs ? Given that many people are mentioning, or have experienced, led bulbs giving up the ghost the warranty period is a key factor into an informed decision.

Avoid the poundland ones is my recommendation. 2 of the 6 purchased last July have already blown and in a room where they are not left on for more than 10-20 mins a day.

Which would be better quality. The LAP or the wickes ones please?

I think Osram and Philips, wouldn't go wrong with them but probably dearer.

@pulves - thanks for the link. Certainly worth considering as an alternative to this deal. With so many brands, such huge price differnetials, it is difficult to compare and work out which ones are better. LAP, Poundshop bulbs, Integral, Cree, Wickes, Philips, Osram, ledHut, Lumilife......list is endless........analysis paralysis... may have to stick to Halogens....lol

I've had the lap brand leds from screwfix and has previously said they don't last. I replaced them with lohan leds from Amazon and they've been brilliant.

@andynicol - can you share wickes link pls. I can't find any that work out less than £1 each.

installed 25+ LAP branded LEDs, they last an average 2 years, some blow after 1 year, this is with proper LED drivers.. not recommended, guess £1 each would be ok..
