Cheapest GU10 LED bulbs I have ever seen. I don't have any experience with this, or any other, brand, but I have just bought a box and replaced one of my halogen bulbs and didn't notice any difference in light shade, quality or strength. I would welcome views from others about price, quality or overall value of deal.

I think the warm Vs cool is a personal thing. If you want ligth that looks like a halogen go for the high lumen output warm LEDs. Screwfix have some 3xx Lumen LED GU10 glass that are smaller than plastic cased GU10. You might want those if the larger plastic ones do not fit your holders. For recessed ceiling mounted GU10 the cheaper plastic ones are fine as there is more space. For spots and external holders the smaller more expensive glass LEDs might be worth considering.

If you need dimmable LEDs then the screwfix range is also good both the new range and some lower power ones in clearance.

Hijack away. Np. What is wrong with the toolstation ones ? I was thinking if buying them to see what my bathroom and kitchen would look like with cool white bulbs.

Definitely go for cool white in kitchen and bathroom but go for the brightest and for for few watts more price wise is negligible compared to halogen.

Just bought some of the Wickes ones which are normally £39.80 for 20. Offer is buy one get one free so 40 for £39.80.
I got the 5W warm white at 350 lumens and the output is nearly identical to the halogens they replaced. Beam angle is stated at 36 degrees which is ideal as I have them in spotlights not downlighters. Well chuffed. The only think I am not sure on is the warranty. Wickes were useless referring me to the website - which doesn't state anything. If a few give out within a year I will take them back and argue the toss as it says 25000 hours life.
For those contemplating the Toolstation deal remember that the quoted equivalent is only 25W whereas this deal and the Wickes ones are 50W. Wickes also do smaller pack sizes so a 6 pack is £14.99 with 6 free so 12 for £14.99 or 10 pack for 24.99 with 10 free so 20 for £24.99 making them slightly more expensive at £1.25 per bulb. Sorry to hijack this deal but, just wanted to update folks interested.

@maddoglewis - measuring lumens per watt - although I probably couldn't live with the reduced brightness, your comment does bring another thriftyness paradigm to this thread. well done :- )

Toolstation have 2.5 watt 280 lumen GU10's for £6.98 for a pack of 5 at the moment. The screwfix 4.7 watt ones use a bit too much electric for my liking and only output 345 lumens

I have installed LAP GU 10 led bulbs and fittings over past 5 years and have found them to be reliable and long lasting and of good quality unlike some internet options , heat from me!

Home Bargains 99p V-Tacs are very decent.

What is the warranty period for Wickes bulbs ? Given that many people are mentioning, or have experienced, led bulbs giving up the ghost the warranty period is a key factor into an informed decision.

Avoid the poundland ones is my recommendation. 2 of the 6 purchased last July have already blown and in a room where they are not left on for more than 10-20 mins a day.

Which would be better quality. The LAP or the wickes ones please?

The Wickes ones are ever so slightly brighter, BUT obviously are slightly higher wattage so if it cost saving your looking for better with the LAP lamps.
Cost saving would be negligible in the grand scheme of things though, pennies over the lifetime I'd imagine.
Wickes 2for1 is ideal if you only need a few and don't want to buy 50.
Probably not much help as I'm only stating the obvious, but you did ask...:sunglasses:

I think Osram and Philips, wouldn't go wrong with them but probably dearer.

@pulves - thanks for the link. Certainly worth considering as an alternative to this deal. With so many brands, such huge price differnetials, it is difficult to compare and work out which ones are better. LAP, Poundshop bulbs, Integral, Cree, Wickes, Philips, Osram, ledHut, Lumilife......list is endless........analysis paralysis... may have to stick to Halogens....lol

I've had the lap brand leds from screwfix and has previously said they don't last. I replaced them with lohan leds from Amazon and they've been brilliant.

pluves1 has kindly posted the link.
Wickes also have packs of 10 for £24.99 equalling 20 lamps for £24.99, 6pack and singles also available.

installed 25+ LAP branded LEDs, they last an average 2 years, some blow after 1 year, this is with proper LED drivers.. not recommended, guess £1 each would be ok..

I think they are better now, the only ones I've had fail in last couple of years have been cheap eBay ones which I bought nearly 3 years ago, though over half are still working. None of the "branded" ones have gone yet, I have Osram and integral ones from toolstation in gu10s, plus various other non gu10 style, none of which have failed, even poundland ones.
Also, you mention led drivers, are you using dimmable ones or 12v? Some of mine are dimmable bulbs but aren't on dimmers, so maybe that affects their life?
