Internet at home, when i plug in my osprey the internet won't work unless i unplug the ethernet to my bright router connected to the bad. It works on my three phone tethered but I'm moving to the 14.50 EE deal and canx three. Is there a trick i can do so i can avoid unplugging the ethernet cable

In an ideal world most folks want-

• Internet at home
• Internet out and about
• Internet at place of work - if needed

so ive got this deal. I have an nas on a bright router thats not connected to the internet
I am also connecting a phone with usb tether for internet with three which is still ongoing
but I can see a problem I try to connect my osprey by usb tether and it doesnt like the other ethernet router connection
it works when I unplug the nas router.
Its a ballache to keep changing connections to use the nas (Rasp Pi 2)
Can anyone see any way out of my dilemma
I dont want to get a huawei b532 4g router as I want the advantage of
taking my internet out with me.

It appears to send multiple streams with speedtest so the peak from each connection never exceeds 99Mbps as the tower and hardware do 100, but will peak over 120Mbps if using both SIMs.

I found a small window pointing at the tower, but there are some trees in the way although it is in a dry room not a damp, cold outbuilding and no external antennae are used. I had some crawling around in the walls to do to add more Cat 6, but it works great.

Very pleased with this result. Have kept ADSL for now and use load balancing to use it for streaming etc. Also for things like PS4 updates which could burn through 32GB in one go.

I am a big EE fan as I rely totally on EE for home 4G wi-fi internet.

My bill was a mess last month as they combined it with another EE contract, even though I'd asked them not to do that as I was pac coding that number away in a matter of days. I will know on the 20th what they've actually taken but hoping I will see nothing leaving my account due to credits being due. EE customer service 'seemed to think' this would be the likely outcome ....but we shall see if that happens!

I have a feeling my next bill will be to low due to the way they've now done it (taken a fixed amount off, and I suspect haven't calculated it for VAT properly). But having tried to tell them this they didn't seem to care so as long as my bill ends up as £14.50 or less I'm not going to argue.

You'd think take 50% off the pre-vat price then add 20% VAT to that new figure would be easy, but apparently not.

Mine was a 5%, 20% and then a 25% discount which also ends up miles away from £14.50

Looks like someone added 2x 25% discounts to try and make it work but that's taken 25% off then taken 25% off that new amount.

They've also forgotten to credit the overpayment form last month so I'd check your bills.

Got my Huawei E392u-12 working with Rooter OpenWRT flashed onto WD Mynet N750 which replaces my HomeHub 5 and everything works well. The stick manages 38Mbps down but only 1Mbps up by the window with 38% signal strength, but will relocate to the other side of some walls to get clear view of the tower where it gets 100% signal and 95Mbps down and about 35Mbps up but will need to wire some power and another ethernet cable to a cold outbuilding.

Took my MiFi to our place in the sticks in N Wales this weekend and now getting 40 ping 41 down 37 up on 4G. Well chuffed as a couple months ago only 3G was available and 2Mps down.
They either switched on a new 4G mast or I read that they are now using 800mhz band which has a higher coverage.
Either way, will be bringing my firestick with me next time!

They messed up my billing too, charged the £29, had to send the confirmation email to them to rectify it.

After they had though I asked to cancel my contract and via retentions I managed to get 64gb on a rolling monthly contract for £26.10. Was a bit of work for the girl to get the rolling contract working, had to get a supervisor to authorise, but should be pretty easy to get on an annual contract.

Took a while to get it sorted out and they did have to call me back to rectify the initial mistake but all in all pretty easy to deal with the staff that I spoke too.

Hi Thanks,yes it includes line rental. For the first 18 months it is £19.5 and thereafter £28.5. Not sure about the 4G speed but my Post code is DA8. This will be primarily used for Streaming over the internet/kodi etc.

Thanks. Just spoke to EE. They say there is no Fibre optic in the area where I am moving so it will be a standard Broadband, 2.5-6.5 mbps, unlimited for £19.5/month. Any issues with a non Fibre service?

Yes I would definitely go for the TP Link if its just for the short term.
If you can get good Broadband Speed through EE landline and it is "Unlimited" and a good price then I would always go the Broadband route.

Many thanks for your constant advise on the EE deal. I believe that you live in a difficult area in terms of Broadband coverage therefore EE/Huawei combinations works excellent for you. The thing is, I have been offered £19.5/month broadband deal by EE therefore I do not want to invest too much in a Router as I do believe that ultimately may have to go for BB due to Usage constraints. Would you then suggest going for the TP Link for immediate access to the internet as I am moving houses and later, based on the Usage which I presume would be more than 32GB, move to BB?

got my 1st bill today, discount was on there however i did have a £50 deposit charge for overseas & premium calls i might make which was duly removed when i called up as obviously it's a data sim...i was also informed it should still be roaming included on 30 day, this was introduced the week before i signed up apparently, 12 month Data SIM Max plan

Hi there, havent been getting a great speed on my iPhone 5, may be because its not the latest one? Can you please share which router are people using as a Hotspot. So, my sim arrived two days ago and I plugged it into my Huawei e8278 (HUKD from last year, £9.97) and got no signal bars with websites alternating between slow and no. All this at the front of a house, half way up a small hill a few blocks from the main road that's two miles from the centre of Edinburgh so - no obstructions + near town, should have been good? Sitting it on the windowsill was hardly better but tying it to a broom handle and sticking it out the window was usable. Best of all was hanging from the top of the window frame which gave 4/5 bars and a 29ms ping with 16 down and 32 up so - very acceptable. The lesson here would appear to be that these devices are VERY particular about location so don't give up like I nearly did without moving it around the house first.

Had the same with the £29 on the bill. Phoned CS on 0207 362 0200, assistant asked where I'd ordered (she had a lovely Irish accent so couldn't say if it was the North East or Welsh centre!), gave her all the details including the discount code and order reference number.

As it was an online order she had to put me on hold while she spoke to the "digital team" but came back in a few minutes and assured me that discount had been applied properly in spite of the paper and online bills, and said these should be updated. Nothing has as yet (only called 7ish last night) but shall be keeping an eye on the bank statement to see what happens, fingers crossed all goes through correctly.

Looks like it. I have this sim and saying £29 but have checked with EE and on the bill will be £14.50. Also have the £8.99 phone sim deal. This shows £21.99 on the app but there is a credit in the bill to bring it down to £8.99.

On the EE app mine also says £29 although emails from EE state £14.50 on 1 month plan...just wondering if they will add a discount to the bill the same way Vodafone do....shows full price on the app and then at bill date they apply the discount?

Make sure it's 30 day when you get the sim through, called up about mine and had it changed from 12 months to 30 days...although I may well keep this for a while.

Thanks to the OP for this deal, I'd been on 3 payasugo starting at £15 per month add-on rising to £20 this year and then losing unlimited data dropping to 12GB, had no use for calls or texts in that handset so was looking for a good data package...attempted to sign up for this and paused to call ee at the final stage unsure if they were taking payment immediately, clarified over the phone when of course the form I was filling out must have timed out...anyhow ee rang me back Monday saying they could see I was trying to sign up, did it there and then over the phone and was surprised to learn my allowance can be used when in the EU...this part was totally unexpected, I'd intended on buying a 3 payg sim for the times I go abroad but this is now perfect! Using this in an iPhone btw, ee said its fine, 3 by contrast specifically said if caught using data sims in handsets they'd be cut off.

I have got charged £29 and went on online chat and they said we cant help you you need to call 150.

I just used the number that was on the invoice...got passed around a bit but got there eventually - have your bank details (last digits of your account) ready as they'll ask for them - and also have the confirmation email handy as they asked me to forward it to them during the call and to stay on the line while they OK'd it. I signed up. It said "our fastest 4G" but it isn't. Their fastest 4G is 4G+ / LTE Advanced or what they call 4GEE Extra.
So how could they advertise it as their fastest and yet offer something even faster. I spoke with EE and they claimed not to have made this claim at all !!!!!

Modems can be a headache is you get dropouts the above in a good solid always on 4G modem.

yes as long as you modem is unlocked and covers 2100MHz (main 4 use this frequency for 3G)
To get better value and assuming you have a good 4G signal you may want to invest in a 4G modem as the speed could potential go from 5Mbps to 50Mbps!

Main reason for this is for data in the office and I think will be enough for office usage as will not be streaming. We have really slow BT internet in the office which can be used for streaming when lazy :wink:

With your LG G3 being cheap and it charges via the USB connection and gets great speed sound like the ideal cheap 4G android phone for this modem and setup.

It did show as charging when plugged into the router so a cheap 4G android phone might work but you might need to configure stuff so USB tethering autostarts etc?

One of the great things about Three is they pretty much allow you to get on an use you allowance how you want. When I had the 100gb offer last year from EE it would slow down to a snails pace.

I take it there is no way to charge the phone in this config so you'll eventually get a USB modem? Would be interested in which ones would work thanks!

@deany76 Actually, I have a mobile SIM with calls, data and texts plus a 64GB existing SIM for £28 pcm rolling contract which I can cancel at any time and I have just signed up for a new 64GB SIM deal for £29pcm rolling contract. So strictly speaking I have 3 SIMs. 1 in my mobile and 2 to switch in and out of my mifi device.

Lol. It is an outbuilding that faces the mast. Phone USB to USB on reflashed router which is then wired to other access points.

Can you also apply for the 6 month free Apple Music offer if you get this sim? I've just moved into a new flat.. no internet so I've been relying on my Tesco 20gb sim (that special offer a couple of months ago) but don't think it's enough so this EE one should tide me over for now.

Assuming your other sim is calls, text and data? and with EE you are entitled to 10% '2nd line' discount so should be less £2.90

Did you just ask for existing customer discount? The existing customer discount is suppose to be only 10%. £11.05 is a 24% discount.

It is going to be cheap and easy to get mains power, Cat 6 cable, "Rooter" flashed router, USB leads and powered USB hub to the part of the windowless building that is right next to the above outside test point, but they do perform much better if outside, so considering how to give the modems a view of the tower.

The second SIM card arrived this morning. Wondering whether to order two more today to give total 128GB capacity/month at £58 in the hope that they can be later combined to 2 x 64GB and I can run both concurrently with load sharing.

Also still need to find the right USB modems as there are a number of criteria to satisfy for this setup. Then I am just buying the 4G stuff and can reuse my existing equipment to do the wifi, routing, ethernet.

The WD MyNet750 says the Rooter flash is invalid, but managed to flash my old TP Link 1043ND. Plugged in my phone and set it to tether. Laptop connected by gigabit ethernet to 1043ND, speed test 99.61Mbps.

I don't have a second 4G device yet and don't know if through a USB hub it would combine them. Cat 9 routers don't seem in the consumer realm yet.

@Mitster as I said in my comment it took me 1.5 hours on the phone (calling 150 to EE) to obtain that deal but once I'd explained my needs and the fact that it would be pointless to have two SIMs on the same deal the customer service agent in retentions spoke to her manager and they happily agreed to combine the new deal into 1 SIM of 64GB data for £29 a month rolling contract.

Do they start taking payments out straight away or let's say you put the sim to the side and don't decide to use that sim for a couple of months will ee still charge even tho the sim hasn't been activated? Can I also keep the side to the side and use it in 5 months time and still expect that 32gb a month?

After signing up for the deal twice for two 32GB SIMs I spent an hour and a half on the phone trying to combine that into my existing data SIM contract with EE customer service and retentions. It is apparently NOT possible. However, I did manage to combine the 2 new SIMs into 1 SIM so I will only have to switch out my existing data SIM once a month instead of twice. For reference, this means, aside from my existing contract, I now have a £29 pcm SIM from this deal giving me 64GB of data on EE. If anyone is thinking of doing this, it IS possible.

Bit more info on my quest for speed without SIM swapping - I have a WD Net750 gigabit router that can run the above Rooter OpenWRT build. I will test this initially with my Android phone tethered through USB, but I want to obtain a pair of compatible USB 4G dongles to use my two 32GB sims in. Rooter allows load balancing, question is whether the tower or the router would allow 2 x 95 Mbps streams and what the real world rates will be. USB 2, gigabit and ac wireless should not slow things down and the WD Net750 has a reasonable processor, RAM and flash. Main thing is to find suitable USB dongles that are LTE full speed and tested with Rooter, there is a list on the page above, need to check they cover the correct 4G frequencies as well, I also want the regular type not host-less so that I can see connection speeds and data through the router. It even looks possible to have a third WAN from my ADSL, so different traffic can be directed to different WANs to work around usage limitations. It is getting a bit involved, but if I can get two SIMs to work concurrently without swapping and get a speed boost and not run out of data it would be cool. It seems you don't even need two USB sockets on your router to use two dongles, you could use a USB hub which is an advantage to power the dongle(s) properly anyway.

Whenever i get new broadband, i keep my own router and use the ISP router in modem mode, this way i dont have to setup DHCP, WiFi etc again, just plug them both together and they work. Presume a 4G router would have the same options? Looking at this thread its looking like an Osprey version 1 is my best bet if i can find one? Do they have ethernet port and modem mode?

2nd email is what you will get.. Same thing happened to me in regards to discount as 2nd email was not showing up discount.. best thing is to call up and sort it out as its an error their side.. keep a note of order number too.

This is a great deal, signed up for straight away. I actually signed up for a 32GB similar deal with EE 2 years ago and 1 year in they gave me a free upgrade to 64GB so they may do similar with this who knows. The price for my existing deal is £28pcm. Unfortunately, EE won't sanction an upgrade to my existing SIM so I have to switch SIMs in my mifi device which is a pain in the bum but for this price I guess you have to accept it; their customer service is normally sane and excellent but in this respect I think it's idiocy.

Similar problem for me. Added sim to My EE and no discount showing. Had to ring CS who wanted me to email the offer confirmation email at £14.50 to them. They agreed the discount would definitely get applied.

Didn't complete my order but had used my number. Guy rings up this morning saying this is £29....I said no it's half price. "Nah man, it's tons of data you can't have tis for half price...I can give you 64GB of data for £27...tis usual ta bey £60"....yeah no thanks.

I was told by UK CS agent at upgrades that the new data would be applied immediately (pro-rata until end of billing cysle), and because I am md billing cycle, I would be charged on a pro rata basis,

I got the full 32GB added to my account 10 mins alter and went back to live chat to double check the discount was applied and got it confirmed that it is £14.50 with pro-rata billing for this month

just make sure you send a transcript of the live chat to your email address - there is a button to do it at the top of the live chat window

What I expect to happen is to be charged £29 this month since that bill was already generated, then for next month to be free since it should be reduced to the £14.50 + a credit for the amount charged in error on this bill.

I think something similar happened to me with my last contract, the discount didn't show until the bill for the month came through. So it may work out. Anyway as long as you have the email with the discount on it, it should be fine whether that's now or later.

Download the my EE app on your phone and log in. It only shows me the 100 txt messages allowance on the app and not online (i.e. on their site version of my EE).

Just got my sim through the post and I'm in the same situation - the discount doesn't show up anywhere. I was told by an adviser that the promo is definitely showing on their side and to wait until the first bill is generated - at which point it "should" show you the full contract amount (i.e. £29) amount minus the discount etc.

I complained over the phone (promised to be sorted by next bill), next month complained in store (they called CS over the phone for me, promised to be sorted by next bill), lastly I complained over the web, at all points they claimed it's impossible for them to see what was in the confirmation sent by them...

I went for this offer for the extra 7GB for 50p less, but I'm prepared for the same fight...

What I can see right now in my account, is that despite applying for a new contract (and being asked for details for the credit check), they simply converted my current mobile broadband contract to this offer (MBB Max Plan 1m £29), with the number staying the same :O

Yep. and if you need outgoing calls to regular landline/mobile numbers cheaper than skype you can check out hotvoip which has an iOS and Android app. I use sipgate for incoming. Actually I only have a work phone, and I don't want to carry two phones or get a crappy dual SIM phone, so what I do now is run the EE chip in my mobile and I run the O2 (work contract) tugo app to recieve all my calls and texts from o2 while on EE data !

Just to clarify, I believe the 64Gb is a retention deal. You must have a data sim already.
As the 32Gb is now £29 (full price, up from £28 previously), you double the data to 64Gb on that 12month contract.
If you are an existing customer (i.e. another phone contract with EE), you might get another loyalty 10% off.
10% off £29 would potentially be a 64Gb deal £26.10
10% off £28 was the 64Gb loyalty deal for £25.20
I don't think its worth calling up saying can I have it for £25, its not that simple.
You might double your data after a few months for £29.

Switched my £15, 25GB to this via online chat as others have said, to get to the chat screen just go to the shop/ upgrades and its on the left side.

It's still showing the wrong amount but I've saved the chat transcript so if the next bill they generate is wrong i'll be after them for it.

I'm probably also going to check it tomorrow incase it's one of those things that only gets updated overnight.

Will try that mate. Doubt for me 64GB a month is enough as i game a lot but for parents it should be enough. They only use Kodi for football and watching films and stuff, but not everyday. Really could do with it being in the EU as that would be great for them.

I thought this as well, but as its 30 day rolling, shouldn't be too hard to get out of this, plus you get 14 days to cancel anything you buy, so wait until the weekend which takes you over Black Friday.

Might be worth seeing if the mobile networks do anything for Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

If you phone them back in a few weeks, I find Friday late afternoon, they are more 'charitable' and they are bound to double your data if you sign up for 12 months.

Spent good 45 minutes on the phone trying to get the £25 for 64GB deal but was told no chance.
Seems like this is for moving people from 30 rolling to a 12 month contract. They can cover the cost being 12 months, but are not willing to let people take it on straight away.

Best case agent said was to call back after 3 months for an 'upgrade' to see if it was possible. I said i would be willing to enter 12 month contract for 64GB for £25 but was told he get paid commission so would if he could.

Asked about using abroad and that is for MAX SIM PHONE contracts and tablet plans, both read the terms and conditions on the website while on the phone. Thought it was 15GB a month EU usage but thats on maximum SIM PHONE contracts and the tablet plans.

EE showing as having perfect 4g signal in my area, I am pretty rural too, hence home broadband speeds, but will see how it goes, if close to the 3 speed I'll be delighted.

I do have power lines that I can try, so will give it a bash, but the wiring in my house goes through 2 breakers, so might be problematic.

The Hotspot feature on your phone and a 4G Wi-Fi router will lose some Mbps verses a straight 4G speedtest on your phone.
If you are getting 82Mbps by a window inside that is outstanding.
With a 4G modem I'd allow for at least a 25% drop in Mbps

I find the best way to extend the wi-fi is with what apple call a 'Roaming' network but this involved tacking Cat 6 cable (I use 20 metres) outside the house.
4G Modem to Time Machine (or Airport Extreme) 20 metre cable to Airport Express setup with Airport Utility for Mac, PC and iOS
This gives wi-fi thoughout is very reliable and no loss of Mbps
All works great with SONOS and Google Play Music, Prime stick CCTV etc

I doubt I'll ever get broadband here as to far from exchange even the phone line crackled permanently.

Just a word of warning if anyone wants to use this continuously. Don't get the EE Osprey Mini 2 Mi-Fi as it powers itself down after half hour or so of not being active. It will need physically powering back-up.

I still use the older larger Osprey which does stay powered on and I can leave this unattended in the loft for better reception.

I am also going to cancel my home broadband for this deal, or for a second deal with 3. I am currently getting 0.16mb download from Plusnet due to the 3rd fault that I have had on the line in 3 mths, I usually only get 4mb anyway.

With my 3 contract I get 82mb if I place my phone in the middle of my house at the window. Other spots in the house I can get no signal at all. I currently have unlimited internet with my phone and 30gb of tethering on three, this won't be enough for my tethering needs, therefore I have signed up for this deal, perfect if it's anywhere near those speeds with EE, if not I'll cancel and get a second three deal, maybe use a cheap phone in order to make it a hotspot, just not sure how much a difference if any the actual phone in use will make to the hotspots performance (currently using Galaxy S7 edge )If it does appear to be the solution tho then I'll look to invest in a decent 4g router, an option I couldn't choose if I use the 3, 30gb tether option (as you can only use that option in a phone).

I also send the signal around my house via a wifi extender, this also allows me to connect other routers to it due to the Ethernet socket. I was surprised to find that the signal throughput of the extender was half of that of the phone though, my limited research on this though has found that this appears to be an issue synonymous with all extenders due to the way they work. More research on this is required though, but I am ultimately still exceptionally happy with 40mbps connection considering my home broadband speeds.

10Mbps is not quite good enough for 2016 shame. But fantastic outdoor speeds.
Sounds very similar to my setup buildings wise.
I get 30Mbps (used to get 50 but I think EE have slowed me down as heavy user).

Speed test in the house is about 10Mbps but drops out. Outside it is 85-95Mbps. It is an old farm steading, weird layout. All the windows face away or at 90 degrees with lots of masonry between them and the transmitter. The land is hilly and the building has a courtyard so signals do weird things. Getting outside this there is nothing between us and the transmitter, it is a field away. It was only by chance when out walking that I noticed lots of 4G so tried a speed test and got 70Mbps, and then even better outside at home. So I might have a special situation where an antenna is good even if it just gets near to what a phone will do outside?

In most locations in the house it is dropping to Edge, GPRS or no signal at all. One tiny window can get a 4G 2 bar signal and show 49Mbps but there are trees in the way and it fluctuates badly. There might be an attic area I can try, but not ideal to manage the router if it needs resetting, or a SIM card swap.

Phoned to check the first order and they put it through, for some reason the second one had processed. The operator was very helpful but had no suggestions except swapping the SIM when 32GB runs out.

The antenna idea will literally drive you up the wall!
I so wanted mine to work but it made zero difference. I actually think they are 'missold'.

Putting the modem in a box outside may cause problems in the winter months with tempretures below zero and damp.

So to confirm speedtests done by windows in the house return very poor / zero speeds?

The modem I have supports speeds of 150Mbps so I guess its not cat 6LTE that can go to 300Mbps and so mine wont connect to two spectrum bands at once.
Not sure when EE plan to roll out the connection to two bands at same time. A poster earlier implied 'soon'

Thanks deany76. A bit more information re the antenna idea... Using my phone, inside the speeds are woeful, and they are great outside. There are outbuildings with no windows facing the mast with multiple 600mm whinstone walls between. I could try to mount the router in a plastic box outside perhaps and use its own antennae? I get "double speed" 4G here, not 4G+. Is this Cat 4 or Cat 6 and is it single or dual antennae?

I have five routers linked by Cat 6 cable to get Wifi everywhere. The stone here must be something else.

tbh, i run out of the data every month easily, but have another SIM for calls and texts, so for me, this deal is better.

Might call EE and see if they can change my current deal, but reading my cashback form it says.
Cannot claim cashback if changed your price plan with us or the network provider directly. So to me that means if i change anything on the contract they will refuse all future cashback.

To clarify my question - anyone recommend a decent 4g router that I can connect EE booster to (ie with ethernet ports)

Ordered two in separate orders, but using different credit cards so the system would not think they were duplicate orders. Both got to "Thank you for your order" landing pages with two different order numbers. Only the later one has had an acknowledgement email almost immediately and then this morning I have one "Confirmation: Your order's on its way" but the order number in there is different so cannot tell which one has worked. Not sure whether to order again. 32GB might not be enough to lose the land line ADSL so was thinking of a dual SIM router and having two SIM cards and 64GB. Presumably a dual SIM router could handle this. I get 95Mbps down and 39Mbps up with my LG G3 and the mast is on a hill a few hundred metres behind the house. BT Broadband is the only copper option and that has recently been increased to 10Mbps down and 1MBps up. Since I am connected directly to the exchange without a green cabinet and in the sticks, it might never be upgraded.

House is stone walls, I get really poor signal inside, so will probably want to have an outside antenna, Gigabit ethernet connection to my network and dual SIM setup. Would also probably want to invest in a good router that will handle future higher speeds.

I cannot find info on whether the LG G3 D855 I have is Cat 3 or 4. Nevertheless, if this is viable in use I will ditch the copper.

Yep, be careful with outdoor signal boosters. I paid a lot of money from mine but it made no difference whatsoever. Couldn't return it as it was some con company who claimed to be British but they never were. In the end I ended up selling it on ebay.

I got double data free 10GB to 20GB a few years back for iPhone.
Not sure best thing to say to them to get say 50GB someone might answer that with experience.

My speed hasn't dropped but as you no doubt know.. internet speed, or the perception of it, is dependant on my things.. name server delays are a big problem especially through Virgin.. they have particularly slow upload speeds.. Upload is becoming more important.. it's a two way street.. I think thats why my 4G system feels faster .. I'm delighted with this deal, although I ideally need about 45GB per month! Thanks Again..

Ours was updated September 2015 and took 2 engineers up to a week with a cherry picker. rural so I guess 'yes' but there maybe a few still, their coverage checker says double speed if available.

I'm no expert but I don't think this is really ideal for use abroad as I believe you need to purchase an "Add-on" which takes away the great value of this deal.
I think 3 are best with roaming but I woundn't have three again if the gave me FREE unlimited everything - dreadful call centre.

I cant get broadband as too far from exchange (rural North Wales) my speed has dropped by EE as I'm a very heavy user I now get 25 to 30 mb DL (used to get 50 mb)

That's exactly what I did! I bought a quality 4G router (TP-Link MR200) then dumped Virgin Cable & Landline... I live in a city center & can see the transmitter about 700mts away, I do intend to get exterior antennas at some at some point.. but it works well, same speed Up & Down.. but the best bit is.. When EE updated the mast to 4G last year I had a chat with the lads and they were installing Huawei equipment for the update.

If your an existing customer with EE it would be worthwhile calling them after placing the order to see if they can upgrade this deal for you. I did the same last time they had a similar offer on and they gave me double data which should have been around £26 but with a £5 loyalty reduction. Currently getting 64gb for £21 per month.

My parents did this on last years deal and just cancelled and bought two sims on this one. They live in rural area and this is there only means. They get 70mb on average. Yes it plays up now and then but generally they have 24/7 connection. The sim is connected to a tp link 4g router on the window ledge at the best signal location. This then ethernets to a net Gear 1900 router in the middle of the house to blast the signal to all locations. It's cost them £200+ in decent routers but they now have coverage all
A large bungalow with solid brick walls.

Anyone recommend a suitable modem that I can plug into an existing network - just something with an RJ45 that I can bridge to another router thx.

Freedompop accounts do not need to use the FP sim after app activation, everything is data routed. You can easily add bundles for UK and other countries to a data sim. I know someone who uses it on a unlimited T-Mobile 3G internet sim as their main number, no issues at all. They even just transferred over to the FP global sim for free roaming and sent the sim to the other half to shove in a spare phone to switch on and use anytime they need to call the bank etc etc.


Also the T-Mobile sim number auto records incoming calls on a app so they give that out to companies and government depts only, because we all know how dodgy these are. I set this all up for them and they are happy as larry.

For high volume calls bundles FP cant be beaten by most other voip providers. For low volume users voip providers win hands down on a data sim.

Login to your T-Mobile account, you should get unlimited 3G on a priceplan as a current customer.

MBNL also does 4G for both networks, the frequencies networks used on each base station make a difference, but then again so does the dodgy MBNL approved coverage maps for both networks! The only place in Scotland maps seem to be accurate is the usual Glasgow & Edinburgh with solid 4G on the actual ground somewhere near the mapwork.

You are assuming every single one of my contacts uses Facebook or Whatsapp. They don't.

This is a superb deal. I'm already on a t-mobile contract from about 20 months ago which obviously expires soon so I know I get good signal with ee where I live, work and travel. My current data isn't enough, so this will supplement nicely with the second sim slot in my oneplus 3.

Planning to use this for data and three's 321 payg sim when my t mobile runs out as I'm a very light calls/texts user. Just tested a three data sim I have laying around, and it still gets a signal on my phone even when data is switched off on it, it was able to receive text messages, but I didn't test sending as it's only a data sim. So I'm assuming it'll work. Be aware not all dual sim phones will do this: many will drop the non data sim to 2g signals only, which won't work on the three network at all. You can easily order a free sim from three to test this, and this deal has a 14 day cooling off period, so no real risk here if technicalities get in the way.

If you're heavy on data and light on everything else, this seems like a good combination.

Firstly three are awful.
I have the 25GB offer and took it to Cornwall in July. Out in the sticks I had 3 bar signal and received 80mbps down and 25 up. Three had 1 bar of H+ and (as per usual with three) couldn't get 1mbps
Anyway I picked up the EE osprey mini for £10 from CEX

Just signed up. Had a request to call them as I'm an existing customer. They wanted to check I still needed my existing sim only voice contract as well.
All sorted, sim on its way. Was going to upgrade main broadband to fibre but live in the sticks and EE 4g is much faster for me.... and cheaper. 32gb is plenty adequate for me.

EE is the best 4g, obviously faster the closer you are to the mast, but generally the best and most stable 4g. EE are the most generous also when it comes to data offers. This is an eye boggling offer, sure to be snapped up by many. I have BT mobile (EE signal) on the 20gb tariff, (no longer available) and I struggle to use it. This may as well be an 'unlimited' tariff, doubtful 99% of subscribers will use it all. Well done EE!

Both Sim Slots maybe 4G compatible but the phone can only pick up one 4G signal and other is either 3G or 2G.

Example : Sim 1 is picking 4G, Sim 2 will be 3G/2G or
When Sim 2 is 4G then Sim 1 will be 3G/2G

Also there is no dual sim phone(s) currently can connect both sim to 4G

This is a hot deal, but just incase there's some lighter users looking for something good on Ee, I picked up their 2gb/ month for 12 month data simply for £60 from an Amazon seller the other day.
I had been using the t-mobile 6monthsweb for years, but they recently doubled their price, making me look for alternatives.
This is a great deal though, over 1gb a day should be fine for most, and being able to use it as a hotspot is great

I used it when I moved one until I was installed and got 45mbps it's just the data limits which make mobile broadband not as good

This is the best you're gonna get these days, now that Mobile phone companies are holding your data to ransom.

The 4G router will have the EE sim in it, I have checked coverage and can receive 60mb download and 25mb upload, faster than my existing TT router. So my connection to the internet will be the EE data sim in the 4G router.

Battery life perhaps? Having both SIMs connected to 4G networks at the same time has to affect battery life negatively, surely?

Vey strange that the cheaper honor 5x dual sim phone has both slots 4g enabled but no other honor phones do, would love to no why, so that phone perfect for this ee data sim and 3 321 paygo sim and my dearer honor 7 isn't because one of the slots is only 2g.

I also had the 25gb for £15 a month data sim. Spoke to upgrades, unfortunately they can't upgrade you to this so you have to sign up to this, then cancel the other contract. All seems silly, why can't they just upgrade you!

Anyway heat given, I've gone for this as its 50p cheaper for more data.....no brainer!

Of course it wouldn't come with minutes or text, it'd render most of their tariffs redundant if it did.

3 haven't ever supported 2g they are "built on data" as their motto goes. 2g will be around for a long time yet there are too many 2g handsets around to knock that on the head. I am only speaking of the UK of course

If you scroll down to the Product Information and click on the Specification tab next to it, it says rolling contract 30 days and you have 4 data options to choose from. So I presume you will have to add a data plan as well.

not the case for me, i live in the sticks and cant get broadband yet and i game on my (EE 4G HOME BROADBAND) without problems. ok i only get 15mbps down and 2mbps up but the ping is great and no latency issues on BF1.

Install an app to push calls through a voip provider on their 0800 access code. Be about 8p a min but if you only make say 25 mins of calls a month like me it's worth it for the data.

​Pair this with a £5 month unlimited calls/texts BT sim and you've got the best of both!

Currently paying £16.50 on 3 for AYCE Data, mins and sms.... that's a deal! Yes tethering is frowned upon over 15GB but streaming music to my phone all days every day is much cheaper on 3 that it was on EE...

This is an amazing deal for a crazy amount of (very fast) 4G data.
For those of you who are looking to this as an option to replace a typical landline/broadband set up, just consider a few things:
- check your signal strength first and foremost - 4G data is no good if youi can't receive it.
- is 32GB really enough for you? Depending on your usage, and with many people now prefering to stream their TV/Catch up/Amazon Prime/Netflix services, you may find yourself coming unstuck.

Taken from Netflix - "Watching movies or TV shows on Netflix uses about 1 GB of data per hour for each stream of standard definition video, and up to 3 GB per hour for each stream of HD video. This can create headaches for Netflix members who have a monthly bandwidth or data cap on their Internet service."

I personally won't have any use for this, as even an hour a night will eat up this 32GB allowance before you consider general browsing/gaming/downloads etc - but I know there will be many many people who this is ample for - have some heat!!

You can use EE SIMs in any device you like, and tethering is not restricted even on Pay As You Go plans.

EE aren't fussy about how you use your data allowances, unlike Three.

I have used an EE sim in a mifi that is hooked to a billion router so that I still use my adsl 2mb (dial up) for years. The mifi lets me connect to just it when I want to use the adsl for downloading sky programs to cut out the adverts, but I don't want to waste data on. The rest of the time it sends 40mb/s through the main billion router and round the house on wifi (I am out in the sticks so is still very good at that speed). If I could get a 100gb plan like the free sims they had last year I would bin the ADSL and phone line.

Amazon Prime streaming is the only thing that is a worry on the 4G as it doesn't have any throttles I can find and gives a full HD picture that really eats through the data, Netflix I turn down in the settings so its not as bad.

Could be a great deal for someone with a dual sim phone, this + a basic cheapo one with some calls and texts.

If I didn't have ages left on my SIM only contract I'd be tempted

The Three SIM won't work if you use it in the 2G slot.
I have an Honor 8 and have experienced this first hand. Three does not support 2G only modes or handsets. When setting my TalkTalk Mobile SIM as my primary SIM (4G/3G/2G), and my Three SIM as the 2G SIM, the Three SIM just goes to Emergency Calls Only.

Check the network connection in your area before you take this deal. DO NOT go for EE if you are going to use it around London Farringdon station. The EE Mast is down from 28-Sep and EE is not planning to correct it... I am paying £16 every month without using the data : (

Thinking of going for this,have a honor 7 dual sim phone so put this data sim in the 4g slot and buy a 321 paygo 3 sim and put this in the 2g slot for calls and texts but thought I read somewhere 3 do not support 2g anymore so might not work,can anyone confirm.Thanks

If calls were permitted on this, I wouldn't recommend it as they're probably in the region of 40-45p per minute.

This is the same thing that Three told me when I wanted to switch to using a "Tablet" SIM in my dualsim phone. I have experienced precisely zero problems in three months.

I can text and call fine too, as far as I can see (mostly use my other sim for that)

It's a contract - you'll need to sign up/choose a package in store.

You *might* get lucky and get a staff member who doesn't realise and just hands it to you - you'll have more luck if you choose to collect from a Currys without a Carphone Warehouse in it, as I imagine these devices will be handled by CPW staff in those stores, and they'll know that it needs a contract.

Worth a shot though, if they make you sign up, just cancel the order and leave it.

This is an amazing deal. Like others above, I got the previous 25GB deal for £15 a month and have been using 6 months. I use it on a Oneplus3 mobile which has 2 Sims and it works perfectly. I previously had the Redmi Note 3 Pro and it worked fine on that too as a second SIM. Couple of points:
It doesn't come with minutes and you cannot add them. My deal did come with 100 texts pm so this one might as well. Yes it can be used at home as mifi if 32GB is enough. It has a 14 day cooling off period so nothing to lose. Get on it and see if you like it. Btw, on my mobile I have never used more than 13GB per month so little point me changing.

Gear S3 LTE use Embedded Sim (Know as e-Sim) therefore you can't actually put a sim card in it.

The only UK Network who use Embedded Sim is O2 as they stock the previous Gear S2 3G

Already on their 25GB for £15 per month 30 day contract deal. Should I cancel that and sign up for this or try speaking to customer retention to see if they'll switch me straight to this deal?

great deal but ee really annoy me now. been a customer for years on multiple 12m data sim and called to get a better deal 5 days ago due to end of contract, offered this package for £17.50 and said that is the best they could ever do on a 12m deal - now they have it cheaper on a 30 day plan! still glad i went with the bt offer!

They all do this now, and before it was in their T&Cs, it's usually no more than 3% so for all intents, insignificant.

Cracking dal for 32gb if you are in an area with excellent coverage you could use in a 4g router and ditch the home phone line and broadband. Not sure if the 30 day account offers the double speed 4g and if there is any allowance to use data abroad.
