So they advertise it as 20th Dec but it's actually 28 days? Are they trying to create extra work for themselves answering 'where are my points queries'!
jnigel26
21 Dec 16 #357
I emailed them re the Sainsbury's website - 'customer service'. Phoning them costs plus the time waiting, and hoping you get the right person, or if it's passed on. Don't let on you found out about this on hotdeals, they might go into meltdown!

Good luck!

Yeh i will do the same, give them until mid Jan, i rang nectar myself, next time will ring sainsbury, what number do you use for sainsbury ? cheers

20 Dec 16 #355
I had response from Sainsbury's to get back in touch with them if no points in 28 days. I'm just going to keep an eye on my Nectar account and if none added by mid Jan, I'll be moaning to them!

Although my account does usually appear accurate, I have to say at times I do think 'what's happened, sure I had more points than that?'
But like everyone, the evidence, on my receipt slips I've binned. Perhaps, from now on, I'm going to keep all my receipts where Nectar points are added, and keep them in a safe place for a couple months before I bin them!

You can see how much trust I have in things today!

Well just got off phone to nectar, and even thou email says 2000 points will be credited on or before 20th december, they said your get them 28 days from when the deal ended, and thats 13th december, strange thou, as the email clearly states, so you can Spend them on your Christmas shop or save them for a treat. Reply to me (it has a ID case enquiry no.) so they must get a lot judging by the high No. Pity they don't read the emails to them properly! :disappointed:

Dear xxxx
'Thanks for contacting us, I'm sorry that you haven't received your bonus Nectar points.

If you've clicked the link you should get the points. Please double check any instructions and terms and conditions that are in the email to make sure you get those points.

If you wish, can you forward us the email for the bonus points. Once we can look at it, we can find out why you haven't received the points.

Thanks again for contacting us and we hope to hear from you again soon.'

Can't seem to get the live chat on the site working today on Sainsbury got through to Nectar who directed me back to Sainsbury.

Anyone know how quick Sainsbury reply to emails?
jnigel26
12 Dec 16 #341
I doubt it. Clicking the link doesn't do it. You have to receive an email! :stuck_out_tongue:

Only 2 days left to claim (13 Dec), so if you haven't received an email, and did 'double up' say you're going to do your Christmas shop at Waitrose, or Co-op, or Tesco, or Morrisons... anywhere but Sainsbury's!
That'll work!
In fact, I've emailed them on behalf of my daughter who doubled-up and got nothing. Will keep you posted

Everyone in the double up got the same thing, they done it differently this year, they doubled your points then took 50% of points back, so say you had 4000, they gave you another 4000 double up, then took 8000 points off, like in your example.

I hear the emails are being sent randomly. It won't work like that, more likely area by area, post code, or alphabetically by recipient surname etc.
Right, come on, if you have had an email, tell us where you are
ie London, Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire (OX1 etc) and so on.
And surname, anyone with surname starting with letters middle to end of alphabet, ie if Smith has got one or Mrs Zanadu  then it ain't alphabetically by surname.
We can work it out, this is hotdeals, we are ALL clever clogs!

And what is it, up till Dec 20th?
Right, if you don't get anything... just moan at them. :smirk: That's how it works today, have a moan and they will buckle 'we are very sorry blah blah, please accept xxx points.

Oh, just to make things clear, the 'email' it comes from Nectar, not Sainsburys.

I emailed Sainsbury's because I didn't receive the email.

I explained how disappointed I was not to receive it despite my huge points balance and my customer loyalty, and I mentioned that I could just as easily shop at M&S, Waitrose, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Lidl or Aldi.

2 Dec 16 #276
Clicking the link just takes you to the landing page the original op got when they claimed their bonus. A thousand people could click it but they won't get any bonus points (whether logged in or not to Nectar) because they didn't get an invite. The original op won' get any more points either as once it is awarded, it's done regardless of re-clicks.

Sure check your own emails to see if you got an invite but don't be surprised if you don't.

bemad
1 Dec 16 1 #255
You're not alone. It isn't to do with email settings. Rather it is to do with criteria behind the scenes that we don't know about. That's why some people got 500 points, some 1500 points, some 2000 points and people like you and me - NOTHING - despite us doubling up once or more than once in the promotion.

If we all "knew" what it was that triggered a 2000 point "thank you" I am sure we would all do it. But we don't. There are variables about how much you spend, don't spend, how much you doubled up, once, twice or umpty times, whether you spend nectar points during the year or save them up, whether you spend them at Sainsbury's or at partners. Whether you got it last year and/or this year. How many Nectar cards you have at the same address. A Nectar linked Credit Card? It could be any or all of these things!

We just don't know :disappointed:

1 Dec 16 #252
The Double Up event was in November, you could take your £20 of Nectar points and double it to £40 to spend in certain departments in SB stores, say toys or electrical. I normally get an email about it but this year didn't and missed it which is really, really annoying as that is all I save Nectar for. Having missed the double-up, I didn't bother reading anything about this deal as if you didn't double-up, you can't get it...whatever it is.

I did have a whinge at them for not advertising the double up very well and they gave me 250 points for my upset!

Thanks for your help. Very strange though as mine is different to yours states the following.

Your information may be analysed to see how you use the Nectar programme, to understand your shopping behaviour and to send you (and/or additional collectors on your account) information and offers for the products or services which are most likely to interest you.
You agree to receive these communications in order to enjoy the benefits of participating in Nectar.

How will your information be used?

We and the companies we share your information with may analyse and use your information to see where and how you use your Nectar card and to understand better your shopping behaviour. We and they will also use your information to select and send you and/or additional collectors on your account Nectar points offers and other information on offers, products or services which are likely to interest you

No.
But you didn't double up?
WHY NOT?

and WHY NOT?

and WHY NOT?

It's a no brainer, surely? You didn't have to spend all your nectar points - I went in a Sainsbury's outside of where I live and spotted a cagoule at half price (not in my local Sains). Just a sec... it was orig 20 quid, now half price 10 quid. Off to customer services, give me a tenner's worth voucher (cost - 5 quids worth off my nectar card).
Sorry, this card is not from this store. Oh dammit! Just a moment sir, I'll get Nectar on the phone for you, all free. Oh okay. Answered a few question (it's to avoid fraud, someone finding your Nec card). All ok go ahead.
So... 20 quid jacket for a fiver.

Again, you don't have to use all your Nectar points on double up, but if you don't use any, what is the point of looking for hot deals?

I had to call up with a question over the double up offer when it was on, Nectar were hopeless so I rang Sainsburys who were very good and said they were the people to contact about this offer so you may get a different answer if you call them. I'm still hoping and waiting for a bonus but will give it another day before I call, I am worried that as I've been inundated with spam lately that I may have deleted it by mistake.

Hi guys haven't used my nectar card in years but came across this and logged in I have £40 quid on there.. didn't realise I'd been collecting loads via eBay! Anyway when is the next double up? Does anyone know? And can you use double up for food/ grocery shopping?
jimbo23
1 Dec 16 #179
That sums up how much customer service sucks in this day and age. Communication between departments can be diabolical.

The link not only comes from sainsburys.co.uk or nectar.com it actually takes you to the official website where the template displays showing you the points that you have won.

If it's a scam, its a pointless one because no data is collected. Only thing it would hope to achieve is you showing your email address is active by clicking the link.

Cold - more than one company give nectar points, and not everyone with a nectar card is a Sainsburys customer, so perhaps the title should have stated sainsburys to be helpful ?
Very hot deal so my cold vote won't be noticed, but it really ** me off because I have a slow connection and have to waste time clicking on something I cannot ever use.
The fact I'm using even more time to write this is a measure of how angry I am with lazy posters who think everyone understands what it's about without stating it clearly....

How are BP dismal? You fill your car then go and pay for the fuel... not quite sure how a company could make that process any more or less 'dismal' than any other petrol station?

It was a promotion by Sainsburys/Nectar that finished on the 22nd (I believe) whereby your nectar points were worth double against certain categories: entertainment (games, movies), electrical, xmas, toys, clothing etc. £20 of points would become £40 off products as an example.

Something about this doesn't seem quite right.

Damn shame I have missed out, voted hot for those that got the email.

30 Nov 16 1 #66
They did this last year as well, they didn't do it on the spring double up though. I thought it might just have been a one off, but it's now looking like it'll be an annual thing. If you've had your nectar card for a really long time, you might want to check you're signed up to email offers. My mom wasn't and I think that's why she didn't get it and I did.

There you go then!
all this time we're used to everything happening by clicking on the links in the deals.
I'll just stick around clicking on it a few times anyway. you never know!

Oh no! After years and years of depressingly poor offers, I missed the email, which I could have really used, AND I miss out on £10. Dammit.

If you haven't received the email you should check your data choices at https://www.nectar.com/my-nectar/manage-account/data-choices to make sure that you're opted into email marketing.

I'm with Nectar. I'm pretty smart. but I'm completely stumped how clicking on the link and getting points can work.
kooks65
30 Nov 16 #45
It says you've got to click through the email so I guess the link is no good :disappointed:

"Bonus Nectar points will be added only to the balance of the recipient of the email, and must have been claimed by clicking through from the email to this page by 23:59 on Tuesday 13 December 2016. Only one bonus permitted per customer. Bonus Nectar points will be credited to your account on or before 20 December 2016. Promoter: Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd, 33 Holborn, London, EC1N 2HT."

Well done for such a restrained response I had something different in mind when I read the post.
I got an email for 2000 points but didn't think it was a deal to post but I guess it is a useful prompt for people to check their email (suggest if you didn't double up that you can save yourself some time and not check!)
