No that's my opinion but it would make sense as Sony will soon be releasing their own UHD Blu-ray player to compete with Panasonic and Samsung's offerings. Microsoft doesn't make any other audio/visual equipment unlike Sony so isn't treading on any of their other divisions toes with their Xbox One S.
EA Access is a red herring regarding sales of console, it been out years but didn't help the Xbox One sell more consoles than the PS4.

bought through the EA Access app on the Xbox One dahsboard
delusion

Is that sonys opinion?
My understanding is that Microsoft feels differently and so it's very possible their new console will have that support. I'm not quite at enthusiast level, even with my console gaming. So will go for just one console with the features that appeal to me most. UHD blueray likely to be one of them. Will just watch and see.
EA access could be another factor as it seems great value for money and not sure why Sony disagrees.

Not really if i bought 10 months of these it would be 2.49 but i could stretch that for far longer than a year by only using one as I wanted it..

The difference in quality between standard definition DVD's and Blu-rays with HD picture and HD sound was a massive difference and like you said helped sell the console a cheap entry into playing Blu-rays. The difference between HD Blu-rays and UHD isn't as big a jump to the 'average' person. UHD Blu-ray is in its infancy (with many new feature films still mastered at less than UHD resolution anyway) and appeals more to the enthusiast, the type of person who doesn't mind paying extra for a standalone player.

From their perspective maybe its easy. But maybe ea access and 4k blueray support is enough for those on the fence to pick Scorpio over ps4 pro (assuming Scorpio will have it).
Way back when I purchased a ps3, I did so because of the blueray support it had over the other consoles. I'm sure others may think along the same lines.
Anyway, not really fussed about it, just both seem like strange decisions to me

Putting a UHD Blu-ray player into a PS4 would cripple their sales of their own standalone UHD Blu-ray player so its quite easy to understand why they have done it.

This decision, plus no 4k blueray support for the ps4 pro, had made it really hard for me to understand their logic.
Both seem very likely to affect their sales on some level.
Anyone have a real idea why they have gone that route?

I said cheaper and less hassle so you've quoted me on that but then say you could spend more at £24.90 on less overall subscription time but have the hassle of 10 separate codes, managing those codes and then hoping they don't expire before you redeem them. Do you know for sure what the expiry date is on the codes supplied by CD Keys is, and I don't mean a guess out of thin air?

If you only want a couple of months. Consider signing up for a month using PayPal, you get another month free. So two months for £3.99
If you decided to go for codes, I believe they are stackable, but you might have to redeem the codes on Xbox.com for them to stack, rather than redeeming on the console.
