Dunno about anyone else, but I find their publication a bit odd - they only test certain brands, the reviews are really generic in content with nothing in-depth about them. I don't really trust their info.

No apology needed. I think that means; you can have a free trial every year but you'll only get the cashback once. May still be worth a try, the worst that could happen is that you'd be £1 down. Plus, you can download any of the Which? Guides before cancelling.

Did he pay the monthly additional fee for their legal advice service? If so, it seems odd that they didn't provide the service - why was that?

Tracking can sometimes take days so too early to know. It works the same way as some other cashback deals where the cashback covers more than the cost of the product.

Sorry, but I believe this is an error. You may (probably will) get away with it - but its a bad habit to get into and one day you'll come unstuck with someone. By cancelling the direct debit, you're not cancelling the contract and remain liable for fees you incur. Most wont take you to court to recover the amounts ... some will. Far less hassle overall to cancel properly by emailing or phoning.

Can you just pay the one off £1 on a debit / credit card to quality for the cashback? Which? gives the option to do so (unless it's a recurring payment?), however I can't see anything in the T&C's..

14 Oct 16#46
Rather then speculate better with DD you could cancel it by yourself.
With Recurrent payment, you have to call your bank to cancel it
steviep43
14 Oct 16#47
Interesting advice cos I cancel all my magazine trials this way. The bank writes to them to tell them the Direct Debit has been cancelled and they just cancel the subscription. So what you're saying is if for whatever reason they don't cancel it and carry on sending me magazines after the trial I could be liable for payment? Food for thought, maybe I'll amend my ways
luvsadealdealdeal
14 Oct 16#48
I've had life insurance companies send me very nasty 'debt collection' letters when I've cancelled my direct debit (without telling them first). They make it sound like they're going to call in the bailiffs & give you a bad credit reference. All nonsense, but that's worth a phone call - you have no liability (as long as you didn't take out a finance agreement, which is actually contractual).
With this Which@? subscription, you can cancel the DD at any time and there won't be any consequences other than the magazine won't drop on your doormat - no need to phone them unless you are a worrier.

14 Oct 16#50
I'd def cancel services like insurance but with things like magazines like you say they just don't send em!
Newbold
14 Oct 16#51
But an aggressive magazine company (and there are a few - Which? isn't one of them of course) could insist on your completing the contract if it hasn't been properly cancelled in accordance with the original T&C. Not worth the risk just for the sake of a quick phone call or email.
