I questioned this too. But having used one, the straw is always available (not just the first time you use it then it gets lost). You don't squirt liquid up your arm trying to insert the straw......so yes overall an improvement and worthwhile.

they do these in poundland don't know what size though
Tesco extra in Upper Boat Longhaired had in their clearance section 600ml cans for £1.50, bought a couple to use around the house and for cleaning garden tools before putting them away for the winter

Years ago I bought an old car with hardened chewing gum stuck to the seat, used WD40 to remove it, unbelievable this stuff.
