I have this headset. it's pretty decent and does the job. I have the Nexus 6 which just about fits in the case. I ended up taking the clamp out which keeps the phone in place and it helped fit better.
as far as vr is concerned this is a nice and cheap easy way to get the vr bug out of your system.
there are a few OK apps out there which will wow you but overall the content available is underwhelming.
most stuff is on rails so you just look around.
not bothered to get a controller as not enter sure if there is anything worthwhile getting one for.
If anyone one buys one, let me know how good they are - I have a Virtual Box v1 from Ebay, its good but if this is better then I'll go get one.

Got one 2 months ago for same price. Box looks nice if nothing else. Bought for my bro so can't confirm how good it is.

I put this on 2 months ago when they first started selling them for same price, deal went super cold...anyway decent bit of kit, just make sure your phone is compatible with google cardboard before you buy...I have Moto G 3rd gen and it doesnt work with this

Be very careful using one of these with a Samsung. If the battery explodes you could lose your sight.

Does anyone know if these would work with a Microsoft lumia 640 ? Would be a handy stocking filler for someone I know if they do, thanks .

I've had one of these for quite a while, it is a step up from the Google Cardboard I used to use, but annoying that there's no way of controlling my phone when wearing it.

Depending on your phone you could plug in a USB mouse with an OTG cable.

I got this one, is okay, not very comfortable. Works well with a Moto 4 and Bluetooth mouse.

Got this today and had a quick try, I can see the sides of my phone when viewing this (Samsung S6) - is this the way it is for everyone?
Also, are you not supposed to get a qr code with vr headsets to set them up properly? There is no qr code with this.

A QR code I've put together for this scope so Google Cardboard gets the right lens settings for it. Configured with a Lenovo P2 5.5" screen.
