Why would anyone get this instead of a powerline?

because it allows your pc to receive wifi signals.

Because that solution isn't wireless.

powerline is more a temporary solution, anyone wanting good transfer speeds and low latency would be better off using WiFi or proper Ethernet compared to powerline

I have this wireless adapter and it has really good speed ....... when connected.
The signal drops constantly from full signal to disconnected in 2 different machines. I'd say this happens around 3-4 times a day.

Thanks for the tip, the driver I am on at the moment is a broadcom one which is meant to be the best one you can get at the moment for the T8E; any other driver gives either slower performance or the driver crashes.

Be warned, bought this a few days ago and it does have driver issues with Windows 10, you WILL get terrible performace unless you download non TPlink drivers (even then it's not the best but satisfactory)

OK if that's the case you can try Driver Pack Solution and Snappy Driver, I prefer Snappy Driver as it's too easy to install crap software you don't want With DRPSu. DRPSu you have to be careful to go in to each section and unselect the Driver Pack Notifier and other software you don't need. Snappy Driver all you need to do is get the indexes for your machine and it will get the driver packs specific to that machine. I can't guarantee that these will have the drivers for this TPLink card but in my experience they have most drivers and ones that work.
