The new offers are showing on it for today so seems fine on that side. Who will be using it now that's a different story. Bad ideas and practices earn a bad reputation.

Hope everyone affected receive theire fund soon and if wrongly accused then some compensation as you can't upload receipts when you are blocked, so users could be missing out.

Interesting post there jonathoncreek who needs 007 eh!

I have taken out 17.00 before and 33.00 now and my account seems fine.

I want to say that if it wasn't for kikai posting about this app I probably would not have found out about it.

It took a while to get to these amounts and it was not easy having to take photos of receipts only for them to review first etc etc

If a person has more than one account and uses different receipts what is fraud in that? They don't offer that much of reward these days anyway. I think if it's not a major issue send warning email and tell the people involved to stop it.

How can anyone admit to knowing something they are unaware of? Whether you believe it or not is of no concern to myself and its probably best you don't have anymore to say on this matter as I am not going to employ similar playground tactics.

Have Shopitize outrightly accused anyone of fraud? I am disappointed with how this is being handled but it's a precautionary measure. What about those members who could potentially be guilty of this? If members have nothing to worry about then this matter should hopefully be rectified soon enough in their favour.

My responses may seem blasé to you due to your limited understanding and perception of the situation because you're angry. I always take into account both sides of any issue...
KiKai
30 Oct 16 #134
I guess anything is possible snowee and we'll find out soon enough. When this matter was bought to my attention by other members i contacted Shopitize for some clarity. I was told 'if your account is not under investigation and you continue to use your account it's fine'...

You are entitled to your opinion and cynicism exel1966. And you're right i am simply reiterating what Shopitize have said in their response to members, trying to better understand exactly what's going on as are the rest of you.

I have been promoting Shopitize' weekly offers for some years now as i have done with Checkoutsmart, Clicksnap or even Topcashback. Does that mean I'm connected to them too?!
KiKai
30 Oct 16 #132
As mentioned before no i do not work for Shopitize but i do take all the facts into account before forming any opinion. Am i being sympathetic towards them, no but it may seem like that to yourself.

On the other hand do i think Shopitize could have handled this matter more tactfully, yes i do. Are Shopitize wrong to suspend accounts if they believe fraudulent activity has taken place and they need to investigate it further, no i don't in the correct cases.

However i do feel bad for all those genuine users who have been caught up unnecessarily in this investigative net and hope for their sake that Shopitize get to the bottom of their investigations sooner rather than later...

That is sound advice for any cashback site/app - it is not a savings account and not protected if anything ever did happen (having experienced this with two cashback websites which went into administration previously, where cashback was confirmed but not yet payable, I am therefore very cautious and withdraw when you are allowed. I am in no way suggesting any of the current sites/apps are in this position, just highlighting the need to withdraw when it is possible).

I'm fully aware of the partnering with TCB; what I was getting at, as I mentioned last week, is that I wouldn't be surprised if there is an intended takeover by TCB and all this recent activity is Shopitize trying to get their house in order.
KiKai, if you think people have nothing to worry about, please can you provide some solid evidence upon which you base this opinion?

She says not, however I believe there is a connection, as like you, the tone is far too defensive in favour of them, she seems to be reiterating their line all too often and spends a lot of time promoting them and posting offers before anyone else seems to have seen them. Cynical ? Yes !!

It's okay KiKai, I didn't think for one minute that you were implying that I am a fraudulent user
I thought maybe it was only people that had a high amount owed to them that were having their accounts blocked - my husband and I have (or had!) nearly £90 saved between us. However, somebody on the misc thread said that they have just requested to withdraw £98 so if their account is still accessible, I really don't know.
I have come to the conclusion that it isn't wise to let money build up in any account, so have withdrawn money from both my Topcashback and Quidco accounts....... just in case!

Hi Jagron I wasn't insinuating that you are not a genuine user. My sincere apologies if you thought that's what I meant. I was making a general statement regarding all members who have been affected by this. You are doing the best thing by giving them as much information as possible. Yes I saw those accounts too. What the situation is with TCB over and above their current partnership I don't know...
Jagron
29 Oct 16 1 #114
I am a genuine user and have only ever recommended Shopitize to members of my family, which Shopitize themselves have asked us to do in the past. After their first email, I contacted them to say that I would provide names and emails of all the people I have referred, so that they can see and check out that we are all different people. I then received the second email which again is the generic one being sent out to everybody.
Using the link provided by somebody on the Misc thread, I had a look at their accounts and it doesn't look good. Their assets for 2015 (cash in the bank and money owed to them from debtors) don't come anywhere near the amount they owe to creditors.
I don't know what the situation with Topcashback is, but if they are taking Shopitize over, they will not want to be saddled with a load of debt.
KiKai
29 Oct 16 1 #113
Well I'm not aware of Shopitize sending out different emails to members as no one has posted anything other than the ones previously mentioned above..

A word of advice for you deb8z, don't make incorrect comments when you don't know the facts. I'm not an employee of Shopitize irrespective of what you may believe. Again if you bothered to read my comments you would see from my responses that I was not aware of this situation until it was mentioned by other members...
deb8z
29 Oct 16 #112
They have sent different emails to people, some emails from Shopitize stated the use of the same device was the problem then they subsequently sent ones out regarding multiple accounts,so they are contradicting themselves.

Of course you wouldn't have a problem with your account as an employee
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #111
Well I'm simply going by the information members have received and subsequently posted on here. It clearly states in their email that they have taken into consideration the use of a communal device! So over and above that they are saying the main issue is that some members have abused their system by having multiple accounts..

To my knowledge Shopitize have not made any other statements contradicting their first... :smirk:
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #110
If you would have read comment 3 deb8z you would know that I do not have any issues with my account! :smirk:
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #109
From my understanding it's not using the same device which is the issue. It's multiple accounts held by one person...
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #108
Having more than 1 account per household isn't the issue here macccheshire. It's multiple accounts held by one person...
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #107
I agree it's awful for those members whose accounts have been suspended but i'm pretty sure that's not the reason Shopitize are conducting this investigation. Surely they have noticed some irregularities which has given rise to this situation...
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #106
Oh wow! I think this matter is going to take longer than anticipated to resolve, that's probably why you've received that email so you have been informed. Also giving them time to conduct their investigations and then they'll subsequently be in touch...
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #105
From their post it would seem that they are not penalising members for using the same device but for possibly have multiple accounts. If that isn't the case for some of those members affected then simply email them to that affect..

Your anger and frustration is justified trokey81 as this is not a good situation to be in for both Shopitize and it's members...
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #104
I don't think this fraudulent activity situation has anything to do with any possible changes in the pipeline. It's a important matter that has come to their attention which they are dealing with. I agree any negative PR is not good for any company...
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #103
Yes it's a bad situation for both Shopitize and it's members but I'm hoping it gets sorted out promptly. Hopefully Shopitize are still around for us to use in the future...
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #102
Shopitize have already partnered up with TCB. This fraudulent activity situation has nothing to do with TCB and is only relating to Shopitize accounts..

It agree it is an unfortunate situation for those members whose accounts have been suspended. But as a company they have the right to so if they suspect foul play..

I appreciate what you are saying that members should rush to withdraw their money but if their accounts haven't been suspended then they have nothing to worry about...
KiKai
29 Oct 16 #101
To be honest I doubt that is the situation as they wouldn't have partnered up with TCB. I'm hoping this matter gets resolved quickly so members minds are put at ease and can continue to use the app within their terms and conditions...
deb8z
29 Oct 16 #100
It DID have something to do with the same device so if Shopitize are now saying it doesn't then they have changed their tune since the other day, probably when they realised they made an error saying that as there's nothing in their terms saying you can't use the same device.

After reading that Jagron it would seem that from the information they possess they are saying that some members may have taken advantage of their system by having several accounts and if that's the case then they should come forward. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the use of the same device as they've taken that into consideration. They're also giving members the opportunity to say if you believe this is a mistake then let them know..

I understand members are furious with the allegations but if you are a genuine user then simply email them and I'm pretty sure after their investigation your accounts will be reinstated..

Those accounts that haven't been suspended do not have anything to worry about and should continue to use them as normal...

Then it gets worse...

Hi there,

As per our terms and conditions we retain the right to suspend, and ultimately cancel, accounts of users where we believe that an abuse of Shopitize services has occurred. We conduct regular reviews and in your case our system has picked up some potential abusive activities on your account(s). As a result therefore the system has suspended your account(s) pending further investigation.

This process may take some time but we will be in contact as soon
as possible to inform you of the final decision.

We will be in touch soon.
trokey81
28 Oct 16 #85
I emailed to find out why I couldn't access my account...

Hi there,

As you have noticed you can no longer access your account.

As a precautionary method against fraudulent activity we have deactivated all accounts that are linked to multiple other accounts.

We understand that in some cases friends or family members may share a communal device when using Shopitize and we have taken this into consideration. The account you are referring to is connected to a number of other accounts that is above the level we deem to be fraudulent and therefore unfortunately the account has been suspended.

If you believe that you are not in breach of our terms & conditions and the accounts associated with yours are justified, then please provide any knowledge you may have as to why these associated accounts may appear.

We are currently looking further into this and when we have a better understanding of the situation we will be in touch to the email address your account is registered under.

If you have been intentionally using multiple accounts to take advantage of our system, then we advise that you use this investigation period to come forward and return any funds claimed illegitimately before legal action will be taken against you.

Thank you.

I am bloody fuming! My other half's phone broke and used mine to upload receipts, no where does it state the same device can not be used. We have separate emails and bank accounts and under no circumstances has fraud been committed.

TBH Shopitize can go and poke it - have used them for such a long time and this is how they treat their customers, terrible, their app has got worse over time and the offers are pretty poor too. So this is the final straw. I told my other half to withdraw any funds from their account (as they can access theirs, surely if you suspect fraud you hold all accounts - idiots). Looks like I've lost my few pennies, I hope they loose their business of this as this is not a way to treat anyone - innocent until proven guilty - pah!
deb8z
28 Oct 16 1 #84
I'm the same,my account isn't blocked as OH and I never upload receipts on the same device but we hardly use it anyway, usually only the milk,I'm only at 3.05 so I can't withdraw it.

Wow cant believe this. I think there will be a rush on withdrawls now. I did suspect something was amiss and over the past few months have been withdrawing as soon as I hit £4 whereas I used to let it build up a bit. Am currently only sitting on about £3 and can't withdraw but its not a huge hit. I will not be using this app for the forseeable until things improve a lot (if they're still around).

I reckon Shopitize are definitely gearing up to do a deal with TCB ... and I suspect they are trying to iron out any issues before the deal is done and it all get switched to TCB.
They haven't blocked my account as only use on one device and it's always logged in, but I do feel sorry for those who have had their accounts blocked without notice - very bad PR for shopitize.
I can't withdraw my money as not up to the £4 limit yet, and will struggle to get to that with the increasingly reduced amounts of cashback and withdrawal of milk, which was a good way to get people to look at the weekly deals. I would suggest if you can withdraw your money then do it now!

I have not received the email about "multiple accounts" either.
Jagron
26 Oct 16 #70
Yes, of having multiple accounts!!
Here is the I reply I received in answer to my email to them saying that I couldn't log in.

Sara replied:

Thank you.
KiKai

That's not good Jagron. So are they actually accusing members of having more than one account or is the issue multiple members using the same device?

Just got the same email KiKai :disappointed:
If they have had a problem with people holding multiple accounts, they should have found a different way of investigating it rather than blocking everybody's accounts and sending them an accusing emai! Not pleased at all!

Recieved email saying because my partner and I had accounts and used the same device to upload reciepts we are defrauding them and have suspended accounts and looking to reclaim money paid out. Not sure why this is defrauding them. Separate accounts, buying separate products, separate receipts
NCIS to chlo05
26 Oct 16 #35
That's a load of rubbish. No where in the terms does it say you must use a different device.

The app stopped working on my phone, so I have to upload the receipts using my OH tablet, which they also use for their account.

Since you require separate receipts and any pay outs are into seperate bank accounts then there is no fraud. It is only fraud if one person is using several accounts to make claims.
robin5858
26 Oct 16 1 #33
Thanks Kikai for your effort as usual.

I must agree with the others that this app has gone from one of the best to one of the worst.

To honest I will keep an eye on proceedings over the coming weeks. I most properly will stay until just after Christmas then I will cash out.

RIP Shopitize.

Yikes - not a single mention of Waitrose - then found KiKai's predicting no MILK offer any more = the only reason to definitely check/use Shopitize each week = as other say a sign that Shopitize is on the decline for us users :disappointed:

Meanwhile thanks as always KiKai for the effort you put into this analysis every week as to where best to exploit this weeks (ever fewer & repetitive it seems) Shopitize cashback offers, and for your similar analysis of the TopCashback's Groceries "powered by Shopitize" at:
