It's bizarre, I love RPGs and this is one of the best reviewed games ever, but I struggle to get into it. I really want to like it, but advancing the story just seems like a chore to me, I can't be the only one?
If you've paid for the item, then the retailer can't demand more money from you. You've both entered into a binding contract on the price, both accepting the paid amount.
It amazes me how many people automatically think "well it's priced at that so you (the retailer) HAVE to sell it to me at that price"!

You're not the only one. I've tried to get into Witcher 3 a couple of times but it hasn't grabbed me like other RPGs, which I feel terrible about. For me, I feel overwhelmed by how much there is to learn early on!
Having said that, it's a beautiful game and I will keep trying to get into it!
If this price is correct that's an absolute bargain, but sounds like it's not right and the OP got lucky :disappointed:

Same here - its not a bad game, but I couldn't get into it like Fallout or Skyrim, for example. Put a few hours into Witcher 3 but then left it, yet I've played through Fallout 4 twice this year (on PC and Platinum'ed on PS4)

Awesome price, may I ask, what was the -£20.00 adjustment for on the receipt. It's showing £39.99 on the website as the instore price (as shown on the receipt before the adjustment).
Was it a manual adjustment or automatic when scanned? I'm wondering if it is indeed nationwide and worth a trip.

Great price... I know that I've stated that I won't buy anymore "old" games unless they are £15 or less, but this is worth a punt. Especially as I don't see it going much lower than this.
Shame the website hasn't been updated to reflect the promotion.

There's a £20 adjustment on the price, I can't work out what it's for. It's been mentioned that it's scanning at £39.99 (as shown online), so I doubt it. If you find one, let me know where

Even if this isn't true don't be paying £40 for it, it's £30 on Amazon and around £32-34 most places

If this isn't right check grainger games I think it is... it's a deal that was on here last week for the GOTY edition for £24/£25 I think... I did get it but can't remember what I paid!!

Hey, thanks for that. I wasn't questioning the deal, I just wondered what the price adjustment was for. I'm a fair way from a Game store at the moment and didn't really fancy a wasted trip. Hopefully more stores will follow the pricing and we'll also see it available online. As I said originally, it's an awesome price and I'm slightly (massively) jealous

It's £25 at TGC, so I can only imagine it to drop to around £20 in the next week or so. Especially if GAME are doing an alleged promotion on it.
This time next month however, it definitely will be £20 and below.

I found putting a few points into the shield spell (I forget its exact name, I want to say Aard, but think that might be a different one) early on made combat mostly trivial. I didn't really find the combat all that much fun, which is a shame since you are spending a lot of time fighting. After that the crafting seemed a bit of a mess, but it was easy enough to find decent gear without making it yourself so I didn't delve too deeply into it. In the end I was completing a series of quests to see what happened, but not enjoying the gaming part :disappointed:

that's a ridiculous price. annoying that the expansion is the same by itself! I want to rebuy the game for the dlc, but my Save won't carry over to the GotY edition

26 Oct 16#43
Did you actually play the witcher 1 and 2, or did you just start at 3? Because if you have to ask who dandelion is you started at 3 and didn't play any of the previous games, thats like saying reading the last book of lord of the ring and having no clue as what the hell is going on and it was really boring saying stuff like why did they need to through that ring into the volcano couldn't they have kept it. Though you could just read up on the previous game story there pretty good and the lead into this story. Btw the story is good, didn't like the ending as it seemed they wanted a happy ending which the book never had. Though I loved the game finished it completely without DLC now i have bought it from grainer games goty for 22 pounds so going to replay it completely now with all DLC.
I like how every side quest feels like a main story and not just a side quest haven't seen any other game do this than the witcher 3. If you compare to fallout 4 were every settlement goes like ohw we are beeng attack by raiders (there base is on the otherside of the game map (me go like WTF wouldn't they find a easier target closer to there base)), than you kill there raider they say thanks and that is the end of the quest feels very generic in the witcher 3 your would go looking for the raider, you would find the raider and find out there not that evil and they have sick people which need help and you help them out solve there problem, therefor stopping them attacking the settlement and get a good overall feeling. Most side quest even have cutscenes in the witcher 3. Which would suggest that they actually spend time developing good side quest most games just give crap side quest which add no value to the game just extend the play time. The witcher 3 side quest add value to the game.

How did you get it for £22?
Blaat_blaat
26 Oct 161#45
I ordered it last week thruseday from grainger games for 21.99 pre-owned, it was 24.99 new. But checking now the prices have gone up to 29.99 new and 24.99 used. Btw new or used does not make a difference all DLC is on the disc
On the receipt wouldn't it say Witcher GOTY or something similar? Either you've been served by a retarded Game employee and got away with it or you're having us on. Standard edition is £19.99 after the £20 discount in the sale.
Serio
26 Oct 16#47
Good answer and I laughed at you lord of the rings comparison haha. no I never played any of them before. But omg every time I try to play it after I give up again and again because It's boring me it's like oh you still need to find dandelion for some reason, whoever he is, and to find him you need to find this other person first and also this person. last night I played for an hour to try again to get into it and I had to put on a theatre play to find a person, so I could ask the person if he could help me find dandelion. I nearly fell asleep.

By the way, why did they have to throw the ring into the volcano? Didn't they know that wearing it makes you invisible?

I can understand your view point as well.
maybe watch this youtube video with the story recap of the first 2 games.
You are the second person to say that, but two people have also they had a similar experience to me, so that makes it 2-2. However, in context of the question it also means you're wrong :P
In all seriousness though, I had a look through the Steam reviews and it appears about 1 in 25 people feel like I do about it. I'm not a unique snowflake after all...
