The smaller models not heating up so fast are great because when you punish the kids by putting their hand in one when they've been naughty it's mostly psychological damage you're doing and it's so much harder for those pesky teachers to pick up on that.

FWIW Bought one recently but think it's underpowered, takes too long to cook. Passed it on and bought the next size up for 1/2 price when posted here which cooks much much faster (it's labelled 7 portion on that Argos page but they'd be very small portions).
Also Sainsbury has had these for £11.29 for a while, might be a convenient alternative?

Heat from me.
Don't understand why some people are struggling to use this. Admittedly the 2 portion grill is small but it will cook one butterfly chicken breast in about 6 minutes or two whole chicken breasts in about 12.

This is the present that sits in the back of the cupboard or on top of the shelf. I wonder after a Month how many people actually use these ever again ?

My girlfriend bought me one of these last year when I hadn't yet had a kitchen fitted in my new house. Mine gets used most weeks still as it's really quick to cook a portion of food for just me.

Had one before and had to return it as the plates are not removable for cleaning which makes it very difficult almost impossible. Really not worth buying unless you want food raw in the middle, takes hours to cook a piece of chicken and then a few more hours wondering how can you clean the plates in it.
It's a shame this one didn't last as long though ...

Hardly a knockout deal.

I'd be kinda tempted but a bit concerned about the confusion around the temperature control/how powerful it is. Argos says it's 1/3 off, so it's not a huge discount.

Just bought the silver one collect in store. One of the 1st reviews says
" Good grill.. No kitchen cooks chicken fast " Nik from Nottinghamshire -
so I guess this isn't the 'underpowered' model.

Can't speak for the rest of you but I'm not and grilling vegetables takes a lot of space.

I'm a fan of some George Forman grills but this one, while it's very cheap, will be a disappointment. It's only 700 watts , you would get better results strapping your chicken pieces or burgers to an old style light bulb.

Great. I'll buy this to put in the bottom kitchen cupboard, right next to the bullet blender and Ferrari electric pizza oven.

Been this price at argos for a while; was looking at this last month.
Went for the 4 portion in the end, and even that feels too small, so don't know how small this would be in practice.
Hot  , I have had the silver version and the black version both good.
Should be noted instore at collection at random this grill is either a Silver version pictured or a slightly different black version, both versions can be seen in the pictures on the ebay link.
If it's the model with no temperature control - DO NOT BUY. I got one off here from Argos a while ago, burns the outside of the food, leaves the middle undercooked. Awful thing went on eBay very quickly.

Agreed but that said the larger doesn't have a temp control and cooks perfectly but probably because of the higher power.
