Astronomy app with Augmented Reality: Point phone to sky to see what's up, moon phases, different categories info, cool 3D interfaces, blah blah bloody blah. Usually a pound, can check free version first on android or Apple store.

Very nice looking map of the night sky with info about constellations. Well worth 10p. It requires purchases for all features and does rather over-push the upgrade constellations reminder. Still, nice app.

Happy days.

Yea, the apps had 4 years of development since that video.. It actually is quite slick. I downloaded it when I was stood waiting outside a few weeks ago and was very impressed by it, especially as a free option.

Yeah this video below is six months old and the bitmaps seem a bit clearer, hasn't got most of the other features of Sky Walk 2 though nor augmented reality, foreign lingo but recent:
With free ones by these little app maker devs: they might inject ads or pestering notices or limit functions and introduce paid versions in future though as many often do after a few years. Google's apps do not suffer from these pesky monetization tactics in time. Sky Walk 2 interface is by far the best even without augmented layer and because with overall features beats them all too.

Bought this for my 5x a few months back, but for some reason this and sky map are way off, by nearly 90 degrees despite many callibration attempts. Gyro is fine as VR is spot on.

Can you gift this? My mum would love it but she'd never work out how to pay for it on the store
be cautious. This is the app when I was using at night in Prince Alfred Park in Sydney Australia on my iPhone 4s when I was then almost beaten to death and my partner's iPhone 4s was robbed. And I am not joking!

So what does the 10p get you above the free version?

To add satellites, hi-res constellations etc is a further £2.29.

I found "Sky View" app too, which has more features but not as much as Sky Walk 2 nor augmented reality AFAIK, however it is free:

Don't know if it really is by Nasa or by dev:

This is the free Skeye bednim mentioned:
