Low latency when plugged in via USB, clear part in the touchpad to the lightbar shines through.

and they feel a lot lighter, prob why people are saying lower quality.
personally don't like the light bar, kind of distracting and has no merit.

main differences between v1 and v2 are
1. different materials (more grey and hardwearing) plus
2. hidden translucent strip for light to come to the top of the trackpad
There are teardowns on youtube which show:

I have had my ps4 since launch, and an extra controller since then too. Never had an issue with either... both are fantastic quality... not sure how V2 can improve on that... my main questions are...
what is the point in the light strip.. what does it do?
Is it lighter?
does the charge last longer?
in my mind just like "slim" consoles and special edition ones what is the point if the hardware is identical..
unless new features or better features are added you play the same games in the same way.....
maybe im just old and grumpy.
I can understand buying the newest version if you are buying from scratch or replacing an old or broken but I don't understand replacing working ones with new versions that do nothing new... or paying loads more... just doesn't make sense.

Light strip just routes the light bar colour through to the front of the pad so you can see what colour your light bar is glowing - Games like destiny for example, when you have your super charged, it changes to orange/yellow I believe which is another way of reminding you it's ready.
Other games it changes from green to red as you lose health. Its just a way to provide the gamer with more feedback during games.
Afaik the battery is just the same and if plugged in via wire the latency is slightly better.
Other than that I don't know what the differences are but in terms of the thumbsticks I haven't had one break or rip on any of my V1 controllers so that's never been an issue for me.
Good price for limited edition, however I think V2 ones are a better buy because the thumbsticks are less likely to tear, or so I have read. This is a very common and annoying issue with the original controllers.

Agreed, just replaced both my pads sticks with Xbone sticks £1.49 from eBay much better.

That light up strip is handy then. I've not played a game where I knew that was an issue but interesting to know as perhaps it's a feature I didn't know exist thanks

No they don't . It's probably a 3rd party seller if it's available online - I can't find it either way.
