Hi mate , how you finding the tv? I'm looking to get in Black Friday sales . So confused with this set and the Samsung ks7000
A lot are saying Samsung all the way but I don't know why I'm being drawn to the Sony .
Your review as you have had it a while would be excellent

I got a dilemma ,this or hisense m5500. any advice,please?

p.s. don't need smart features as it will be connected to a nvidia shield anyway.

I saw this telly in person and it was genuinely very good... easily better than my current Panasonic plasma which is saying something.
SD content also looked good
viewing angles were also very good without much brightness or colour change upon past 45 degrees each way which will serve most people.
I also saw a hukd for this telly just now - Samsung 55” UE55KS7000
so which one would be a. better pick? I am interested if anyone has any experience of both.

Ks7000 is definitely 8 Bit not 10

Ive just taken delivery of the Samsung KS7000 and it looked great in store but a different story at home SD content is rubbish, i read all the reviews and this was meant to be a excellent TV that won the Whathifi 2016 award the best is i got it to replace a LG 770V which was also appalling which replaced a 2015 860V and the best of it is the 860V the picture was excellent no matter what you were watching and all because i had to have a HDR TV right now. If id waited and kept the 860V id be £1300 richer and happy but instead im gutted worried sick incase i cant live with it and need to return a second TV to Richersounds because of rubbish picture quality. Is it to much to ask to be able to buy a TV and it be great first time, my only option now is OLED as ive had everything else as the Samsung 8000,9000 are the same tv with more advanced dimming and i wont be having another LG and that's for sure.

KS7000 is definitely 10 bit and the picture quality is fantastic. I actually prefer the ks7000 over the xd9 series from Sony, which is about an extra £300.

8 bit and a clever bit of tech(FRC)that simulates the colour pallete of a 10 bit panel.

KS7000 is definitely a 10bit panel its all over the internet that it is and its on Samsung's website and on the box, i doubt very much they would be able to get away with it

KS7000 is definately 8 bit the KS8000 series are the 10 bit screens,i use this site to check screen specs,I personally think the manufacturers are fully to blame the waters in tv land have been very mucky since 4k arrived now there is a clamour for HDR which is no more than a clever marketing tool as far as 8 bit is concerned as there is no real benefit to HDR unless you have a 10 bit screeen.

So much contradictory information, it's hard to know what believe. The Richer Sounds blog was where I got that idea from. Even then, there's apparently a big difference between being able to receive 10 bit signals and being able to actually process them. Where I've got to now is that there are a load of tricks and gizmos (e.g. Backlight whistles and bells, extended color gamut, etc) that are used on high end regular LCDs to get them to approximate OLED. Some get closer than others. OLED is a big step up, but just a bit too pricey right now. Richer Sounds are flogging a 65" LG OLED set for around 2600 this week. And even that one is an early generation OLED no doubt soon to be superseded. I can't really justify forking out another grand or more for a (albeit considerably) better picture. This set is going to be way better than the 10 year old Samsung it's replacing, and it will do nicely until OLED is more affordable and widespread. That could take 2-3 years, particularly with prices increasing in the foreseeable future on the back of the Brexit-fueled sterling demise. Tough call right now on the best move if you're in the market to buy a new TV.

I guess at some point you have to make a choice between looking at a picture and actually 'watching' it.

4K all gets a bit confusing to be honest.

How's the light bleed? Is it def 8 bit panel?

KS7000 Series is also 8 bit so it's a like for like comparison

4k fix coming for this tv mid november. Currently 4k 10 bit stutters eg all sky q content and pc

Managed to find a uk review saying it's 8 a bit panel but that its brilliant for gaming (which is the main reason I bought it).

Hmm mixed reviews on RS seems still problem with ALL edge lit screens - light bleed and poor quality on anything but 4K demos and bluray. Let's face it-its good to have future proofing but when will 4K actually be mainstream? Lots of good stuff is only on SD and from what I've read most upscalling to 4K is worse than to 1080p. Still not convinced enough yet to upgrade from my (tiny) 40" Sony. Good price though!

Bought the 65" version yesterday from John Lewis. Got them to price match Richer Sounds at 1549.00. RS has 50 off code currently active. Just seen Power Direct have it for 1499.00. Hoping John Lewis will match to that (can request a match up to 28 days after purchase).

In store, Tv looked awesome. Read an HDTV test review which said black levels not good as a consequence of IPS panel: trade off between viewing angle and black levels. Have to admit it looked fine in store, maybe it will be more of an issue in low light room. Was really impressed with how it handle fast moving scenes, that was noticeably (to my eye) better than Samsung KS7000 which was close contender. Though Ks is 10 bit vs this 8bit. And the Samsung has local dimming. So on paper, better panel. In the flesh I preferred the Sony.

May I ask your thoughts on the TV with regards to picture/Motion and also the Android os? Thanks.
