Will do lol . I've got 2 separate headphone set-ups atm . My main one which I use for pc/console/movie/cd/digital music consists of arcam I-rdac / graham slee srg11 headphone amp and Senn hd700 . My Turntable set-up is Rega p3 with super elys cartridge / rega fono mm phono stage with with rega ear headphone amp and I use my senn 598 mostly on that .

Hi guys, how would these be on a PC with a good Creative soundcard? Would I need an extra DAC/anything else as well to get the best out of them?

Or, any other headphones for a PC - allrounder please that'll do a good job with music, movies & games.

I've got a pair of headphones which cost about half the price and sound every bit as good to my ears.

They are class headphones , and would be wasted on your phone tbh . Unless you picked up the Chord Mojo as well :wink:

Yer I do most of my listening on the go through my iphone so wondering if these would be a bit wasted. I was using a portable DAC until apple killed it by limiting the voltage through the chargers, the priks.

Could someone advise, currently have a pair of 1st gen over ear momentum's. I listen mainly to house/techno which is obviously quite heavy in the low end. Would these, being reference, sound flatter by comparison? Am seriously tempted.

​650s are a better all rounder because of bass, they are also great on games & films.

For music only definitely agree HD600, less coloured sound.

​with a decent amp the HD650s completely blow away the HD595s....they would only ever sound similar via a poor amp

Just can't stand it when each ear-cup has it's own wire.

I personally prefer the HD600 to the HD650.

Momentums are not as good as these but leak a lot less sound, plus the first edition Momentums had small cups that didn't suit a lot of ears. They just about covered my small ears. Dunno if Sennheiser did snything about that. The second edition is BT, which means another compromise in sound quality but £174 is not a bad price for them considering what they launched at.

Best headphones I've owned, coil connector in one speaker failed several months ago after over 8 years of daily use. Was just deliberating over buying a pair of replacement speakers - that would cost about £180, will just buy new headphones at this price.
Not overrated, not overpriced, most importantly not overrated and rubbish beats toot. Sound is natural and neutral, need good amp to drive them for the best results.

Those were the HD555/558 headphones, where a foam removal mod would make them sound almost like the pricier HD595/598.

I have both the HD595 and HD650 and there isn't that much between them soundwise, except that the HD595 are lighter and more comfortable to wear. After the HD650 the upgrades get really expensive and it is a case of diminishing returns.

I paid a little more for mine a few years back and they were open box then, so this is a good price with the pound tanking as it is.

Great headphones. Best used with a decent amp but are not quite as hard to drive as others. Only negative would be the cable which comes off a bit cheap and thin vs other Sennheiser cans I've had in the past.

Are foam padding replacements expensive? I have two different pairs of Sennheisser headphones where either the paint finish has worn off or the sponge has ripped.

I've had a pair of these for many years, one great factor with Sennheiser headphones is the support is fantastic, the foam padding will eventually age and flatten, but getting replacements is easy, as is fitting it. Mine came in a wooden padded box, which is great for protecting them and keeping them at their best, don't know of they still do. To think they've been in manufacture since 2003 is a testament you the fact that got it right. No changes for fashion's sake here.

Is there a cheap model Sennheiser that is internally exactly the same except for a couple of pieces of foam? I only ask because I have a pair of HD555's that I bought for around £50 and apparently if you remove the foam pieces they magically turn into £200 audiophile headphones. I think I tried it both ways and they still sounded completely underwhelming whatever, so now I just wake my family up :wink: I think lots of audio enthusiasts and their money, perpetually go in different directions.
