Definitely not "fantastic" sound. The sound is very "tinny" and always requires a sound bar plus subwooder.

Plus TCB has 7.35% on TV's over £1000 finishes 11th Oct. It also shows This offer as well. Bargain if it pays up. That means it could cost £1666.87 with currys + TCB discount

What's the difference between this and the KS9000 apart from a difference of £180?

Looking at a comparisone HERE, there doesn't seem to be anything.

But there must be?

KS8000 = Flat?

im so tempted to get this http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/samsung-ue75ks8000-smart-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-75-led-tv-10146918-pdt.html
this is what you call a tv...the 10% code works bringing it down to £3,329.10 plus my partner works for sainsburys so i get another 8 % off bringing it down to £3,063.00 plus if the topcashback at over 7% (if it pays out) so im looking at £2,700 which is a bargain for this tv!! just need a nudge in the right direction...

TCB should reduce this to £1689.75 with around £110.25 off , the tv10% is also an official code on TCB so you should not have a problem using the code and getting cashback.
Now to sell the 46" Panasonic Plasma to knock a further bit off the cost ,I'll be demoting my 55" Samsung LED tv from the conservatory to my living room and in its place this monster , can't wait , but still feel really sick having spent so much lol

Yes just the curve mate, the 8000 is the flagship flat model and it's the best thing i've bought for some years.
The KS7000 is the one down from this, but this handles motion better along with having good built in speakers
Ripperoo
10 Oct 16 #31
That's if TCB tracks.

How long does Currys take to track in TCB?

Mine hasn't yet, but maybe too early to see it yet?

I've found over the years though, the big cashback amount sometimes don't track for some reason despite clearing cookies prior to clicking trough from TCB or Quidco. Using the same method, the little amounts like 10p, 50p, £1 etc always seem to track OK though.

It's usually the £50, £100+ etc amounts that doand when an enquiry is made, some other affiliate network has been credited with the cashback. Me think internal scams, but I'm a cynical barstward.

the KS8000 is a lovely TV dont get me wrong but a completely waste of time and money IF - you still watch any sports or movies in SD. Not everyone will or can afford to subscribe to the UHD channels. The SD picture on this TV is appalling it simply cannot upscale SD to any decent quality. This 4K bias which everyone seems to be falling for is only for those who watch everything is HD or UHD not forgetting the fact hardly anything on 4k yet !

Imo the LG oled TV is a better bang for your buck if you are spending more that £1k on a TV.

10 Oct 16 #48
I sold my old Plasma for £150 so together with TCB and £220 worth of nectar points (Amex offer still on by the way !) this for us brings the overall total equivalent to just over £1300 , not bad for a TV that was around £2500 a couple of months ago.

Think of it as a 5 year purchase , all under warranty too so even at just under £1500 (after TCB / Amex purchase offer) would equate to under £300 a year * (under £6 a week) .... starting to sound a little more tempting ?

* Please note if you do not pay off your credit card in full on your payment due date, then this will incur credit charges (don't do this with Amex card as APR is quite high !) so the £ per week / year example is just an equivalent figure and a way of justifying the purchase but not paying for it this way

Check out the picture quality sections. Motion reviews are similar but the KS7000 review mentions that the local dimming isn't as good as the KS9000 which has supreme UHD dimming (really stupid name) and I believe the KS8000 has supreme UHD dimming.

For the small price gap between the two, I'd go for the KS8000.

Anyone else with a 2-4 wait for delivery had their TopCashBack track yet?

I'm gettin really forked off with Quidco and TCB as for some strange reason the larger amounts never seem to track, but the 26p, 51p (**** little amounts) seem to track just fine despite clicking through the same way.

Thanks to this thread and the highlight of the 10% discount code I just placed an order for the 49 inch model as that's as big as I can realistically fit into the lounge without turning it into a cinema. Current TV is 40", but has generous proportions around the screen for front facing speakers and "aesthetic enhancement", so is actually 49" big overall.

I pulled the trigger now because the way the pound is going against other currencies I can see prices rising rather than falling, in the near future at least, so the 10% off and the prospect of TCB, though unlikely to be paid, was irresistible.

Unlike the larger set, delivery is scheduled for tomorrow!

Mine hasn't tracked either but I would not worry too much , I've had this before with Currys , a manual claim sorts it out in 99% of cases. You just need your order reference etc and lodge a missing claim after 7 days.
Its worked for me just under a year ago now , Pays out after about 3 months but that's not a problem for me as long as it does it pay out eventually
rooney10
12 Oct 16 #67
Main Differences are :-

8 bit vs 10 bit

1000 MHz vs 1200 MHz (on board processing chip)

40w vs 60w Speakers (additional front firing speakers as well as the down firing and woofer)

UHD Dimming vs Supreme UHD Dimming

Ultra clear ultimate feature (only on 8000)

Picture quality Index :-

2100 vs 2300

immediate delivery vs 2 - 4 week wait

As you can see there are quite a number of improvements , the stand out ones for me are the 10 bit upgrade , cpu upgrade , the speakers and the improved UHD dimming (almost all of them then , lol)

Its around £168 more expensive (after cashback) than the 65ks7000 , for me spending this much it was worth the extra bit
Oh , also prefer the stand on the KS8000 but that's just personal preference

Just read a pretty poor review of the UE65KS8000 I've ordered and wondered if anyone on here has experienced the same issues:

1. Poor sound quality
2. Inability to play some MKV from external HDD, NAS etc
3. Flakey bluetooth, which connects only some times
4. Tv needs restarted when connecting to external devices, such as soundbars
5. The external AV box serves no real purpose and makes the cabling looks more messy compared to connecting directly to the TV.

Can anyone elaborate more on the above please?

Seriously it's a very highly rated tv and recommended by all of the reviewers like rtings which are reliable
I have one and it hasn't got any of the issues and I have it connected to Sony sound bar works fine
A treat to watch blurays I haven't tried 4K bluerays yet as they are quite expensive but it upscales the normal one perfectly and plays HDR videos fine and HDR games on Xbox one s like gears of war 4

My TCB not tracked yet either. First time I've used it, always use Quidco and wish I had done now.
Ripperoo
14 Oct 16 #84
Yep, I've had this with both of them before them before, despite religiously clearing cookies, rebooting router so I have a new IP address before even logging into the cashback sites and subsequently clicking through to retailer and checking out in the same sitting.

It's too good an amount for there not to be some dodgy lowlife somewhere that can 'intercept' your click through and divert what is YOUR money into their own account.

Imagine a few of those 'intercepts' every day. Nice little earner.

.......and the "came from a different affiliate network"? That just rings so many bells.

Who are these other 'affiliate networks'?

If this is the case, then Quidco/TCB should have to tell you exactly who STOLE your money as after all it is your account details that have been compromised to some degree whilst using the Quidco/TCB service (it's either an insider or they are involved themselves).
Ripperoo
14 Oct 16 #85
I did the same with the promise of 7.35% (5.5% ATM) compared with Quidco's 5%

However, 7.35% of an untracked transaction is unfortunately £0.00.
Ripperoo
14 Oct 16 #86
Well, my delivery date went from next day delivery when I first added the UE65KS800 to my basket to 7-14 days and when I looked at my order details earlier, the estimated delivery increased yet again to 2-4 weeks.

So I went and cancelled it, which to be fair was quick and painless.

I went on to then order the model I originally wanted (UE65KS900),which is coming tomorrow. YEY!

I think currys totally underestimated how popular the UE65KS800 would be at this price point. LOL

From what I understand the 9000 is just the curved version of the 8000 (same specs and everything), but with a £185 premium for the curved screen.

Some say curved screens are just a fad. Well it'll be in good company with the other 'FAD' that arrived yesterday (PSVR).

Unfortunately, I've lost what I presumed at the time to be 7.35% cashback from TCB on the UE65KS8000, which hadn't tracked anyway and TCB's cashback for 'TV's & Other Audio Visual' has now decreased to a measly 1.65%.

On Quidco's Currys page, you only get 1.5% when using the 10% code, so maybe that would have been similar with TCB?
tdodd
14 Oct 16 #87
When I placed my order the 10% code was not listed on the TCB website so I'm really not expecting to see a further 7% cash back, even if it does track, which so far it hasn't. I'll chase anyway, because I may get lucky.
Ripperoo
14 Oct 16 #88
There was mention of the 'TV10%' further down the page on TCB the other day (gone now I think).

I actually lodged a claim first thing this morning before discovering that the delivery had increased to 2-4 weeks. So that cashback won't be forthcoming.

Well I ummed & ahhed for a couple of hours and when I saw that orders before 9pm will be free next day delivery (£5 on Saturday though), I said chuff it, cancelled the existing order and ordered the UE65KS9000. Approx £185 more, but it's the TV I originally wanted and as I'd just got my troosers back off t'wife, I went for it.
rooney10
15 Oct 16 #89
Regardless of delivery timescale , the TCB should track correctly within 7 days , if it doesn't you will need to fill out a manual claim , around 90% of manual claims are approved according to the statistics.
For those whose TCB did not track , just submit a manual claim to TCB after 7 days and that should get the ball rolling at least.
I have taken a screenshot of the offer of 10% + 7.35% cashback from TCB's page at the time I placed my order just in case

Well my 65" thing of curved beauty arrived this afternoon and just getting i out of the box was a bit of a challenge. The box for my old 50" plasma had some plastic interlocks that when disengaged allowed the top part of the box to be lifted clear. The beast had to be layed down and the removed whilst laying front down and the back side up (just how I like me ladieees).

So it sat on the oak TV unit, but I hasn't been plugged it in yet while I decide how to tackle the mass/mess of cables I currently have.

I di briefly fire up Netflix and launched 'Luke Gage' and that look awesome and lierally the best picture I've ever seen and I haven't even upgraded to Netflix 4K yet either.

If you can't wait, go for it as I gues a few more people will when the find out there's a potential 2-4 week wait.

Although, this will shorten if other people purchase this.

Hold on a goddamn minute. Do you think Currys purposely increased the delivery time to see how many would cancel and go for the UE65KS9000 at an extra cost of £185ish?

Sorry, just me being cynical again. LOL

Anyone else struggling to register their TV for the '10 Year Screen Burn Warranty'?

I registered for the Samsung standard 12 month warranty, but the subsequent attempt to register for the '10 Year Screen Burn Warranty' was throwing up a serial number error.

That was until I discovered that the last letter of the serial number as shown on the rear of TV is not present on the box.

Once I removed that last letter from the registration form on the Samsung "10 Year Screen Burn Warranty' webpage, it was accepted.

Very Strange as the serial with the additional letter was accepted when I registered for the standard 12 month warranty earlier.

To top it off the Samsung CS phone and chat favours the unemployed as opposed to the hard working man and closed at 6pm, so couldn't check with them. :disappointed:

So if you are stuck registering for the '10 Year Screen Burn Warranty', drop the last digit from the serial number as listed on the rear of the TV.

So you had not placed your order when you were advised about the 4th nov delivery date , ok that probably wont be the case then for those that ordered over a week ago and are currently waiting for news on delivery dates.
the porter

No doubt mate I'm just going of what he said the best info is instore as they can log into the warehouse for delivery timescales
tdodd
19 Oct 16 #109
Probably worth highlighting that the screen burn warranty requires a separate registration from the standard warranty. Were it not for your post I would have had no idea and just assumed it was automatic.

Normally I wouldn't bother with registration at all, but given recent events with the Note 7 it seems a wise precaution to always register any device/appliance with the manufacturer in case of a recall.

Same here - I ordered mine on 10th October and just got a delivery date through the other day for Friday 28th October. However, I phoned them to discuss the delivery schedule and managed to get delivery brought forward to Monday 24th , recommend giving them a ring if you want it sooner , the girl I spoke to was very pleasant and was more than happy to help
rooney10
22 Oct 16 #117
Ring them and ask them for an earlier date , say that you are thinking of cancelling as its taken so long. Chances are you will get it sooner , worth a phone call though

Feel lucky we managed to get our orders in , cant wait till tomorrow when mine arrives , anyone got any links on which settings are the optimum as I've heard that the factory presets aren't the best and haven't got a clue when it comes to fine tuning these settings .

Any suitable links would be of great benefit I would imagine

23 Oct 16 1 #120
I have tried using the settings recommended by AVForums and find them as dull as ditch water. Right now I have no 4K sources, but with Full HD from Sky, Freeview, Youtube and Amazon I find the settings quoted by Donut on this French forum page to be really excellent. The only change is that I have not enabled HDR mode for any of my sources.....

same here just set mine up with sky q and it looks superb, early days but no dse smearing clouding banding etc but like i say very early days, love the one connect box why couldnt they use that as a power brick as well instead of a power cord , tizen is good very slick i have gone from an 65e6 oled superb but not worth £4500, then the 65ks9000 again great but it was damaged so went back, tried the 65dx902 lcd in a plasma box ugly old fashioned crap inbuilt sound but fald and a great set but also was damaged, then the 65b6 another great panel but again not worth its pricetag, then here we are now £1800 but i can see black friday i can see it going down furthur hopefully but at the moment im very very impressed with the sammy but early days

Netflix 4K looks great, tried Black Mirror S3, Ep1. AV forums settings on Movie mode look good but if I toggle to Dynamic and see it all lots more vibrant by bviously too over the top so looking for some middle ground

Noticed some slight vertical banding on football but need to play around with settings some more yet. 3rd different set in a month (Sony and LG OLED) so fed up swapping them out. No light bleed at all which is my main bugbear so might jut get used to it as new one could ave no banding but then light bleed.

Very happy with my 65KS8000, had it a week now and all is very nice.

I also have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone, so downloaded the Samsung Smart View app which now allows me to use my phone as a TV Remote Control. Especially nice in a dark room now as I can actually see the buttons for once. The only downside is it doesn't allow you to actually turn the TV On from Standby Mode. But I've connected my Google Chromecast device to the HDMI port, and once I access this from my phone, it automatically turns the TV on so that's good news.

Also, I managed to keep my old Denon AVR-1910 Surround Sound system by connecting it to the TV by Optical Out cable. So now I can still enjoy surround sound without having to invest in a new 4K Receiver just yet. So that's saved me another £600 in the meantime until I run out of TV HDMI connections.

So all is well. Great picture.

What settings do you have?
Warlords
2 Nov 16 1 #135
I'm not sure if my settings will make any sense to your viewing pleasure, for three reasons.

1) My room layout and light levels won't be the same as yours
2) My expectations of screen quality are much lower. a) As I've come from an old LG 47" LCD TV. b) An upgraded picture is all I wanted.
3) I watch my TV from a distance of 6 meters away (20 feet). So standard definition looks OK (no worse than before). HD looks better and no issues. 4K and HDR looks amazing.... So amazing I grab a bean bag and sit on that 2 meters away like a 5 year old kid watching Cbeebies. I've used Playstation 4 GTA5 Online in GAME MODE and that's just ok but no worse than before. I'm waiting to upgrade to PS4 Pro later this month.

So anyways. My settings are : Reset to Factory Settings

Picture Mode Standard:

Backlight 13
Brightness 45
Contrast 100
Sharpness 20
Colour 50
Apply Picture Settings : Current Source
Digital Clean View : Auto
Auto Motion Plus : Auto
Smart LED : High
Dynamic Contrast : Medium
Colour Space : Native

For HDR+ Mode : Backlight to 20

For Game Mode : Backlight to 14 and Colour Tone to : Warm 2

Note: All this might be poor for anyone else, but for me it's way better than what I had so I'm happy. I've learned to manage my expectations so they don't ruin my experience for the budget I have. It's a trick I learned from HiFi (a very expensive game chasing perfection that never existed).

What I'd like to know is.... are any owners of their KS8000 series TV's using the Smart Hub features for anything creative or fun?

I'm slowly treading through the Smart Home minefield at the moment looking for cool, useful and non-intrusive gadgets to improve my connected world. I've gone off the idea of wifi enabled security systems as I just don't think they're secure or reliable enough.
wozwebs
2 Nov 16 #137
Thanks, I know everyone's set up is different its just good to play around with settings to see what others are using. Will do some more tweaking. I don't think the perfect TV will ever exist so sometimes better to stop looking for imperfections and enjoy the programmes you watch on it.
