Just browsing the Sony Centres Direct website and noticed this REFURBISHED portable Bluetooth speaker reduced from £349 to £149. I've bought several items from Sony Centres Direct in the past, and I might have been lucky, but I've never had any issues.
I have owned a smaller Sony SRS-X3 spearker for about 3 years. It's a nice little speaker and sounds far larger than it's size. This one is bigger and looks as if will go quite a bit louder.
Not sure how many of these items they have in stock (I haven't purchased this time), hope somebody will find this useful.

Are these much cheaper for a reason, namely a blown factory soldered speaker unit is replaced with a non-standard speaker unit locally in UK by oursourced contract repair firm?

I think you will find this is mains powered only, it is an extremely good buy and will sound fantastic. But cannot really be compared to a Bose sound link 2 which is much smaller and is powered by a battery, that said the sound which comes from a mini 2 is unbelievable. I have just bought a Bose over this Sony as it fits the bill for me, small, very good sound and will fit in a coat pocket easily. But the Sony will be a better buy if leaving in one place.
Just my opinion.

I received mine today and can confirm that it can be grouped with my other Chromecast audio devices.

May be of interest to some - this and the X77 are Google Cast ready. Not sure if you can group together with other Chromecast Audio devices though. Way out of my price range, but voted hot anyway.

Anyone advise on quality difference between Bose mini 2 and this?

Does it work on multi room? I have the rt-5 sound bar and surround speakers, great sound off that, but want to build on it through the house and would prefer something with a battery for outside in the summer.

This is a great deal. I also have an X77 an it's fantastic sound for the size of the thing. Heat added...

This should be good I have the srsx77 which is the largest battery powered one and I'm well impressed. Definitely a match for Bose and at a fraction of the price.

Excellent deal thank you. I have been after one of these for a while. My son has the mini SRS-X3 one too and you are correct.... it kicks out a great sound for such a small device.
