Cex is your best option, 116 cash, to get that on ebay you'd have to sell them for 36 each to account for fees and postage and waiting on a sale

Or maybe try sell them locally at 30-35 each?
ando
31 Oct 16 4 #20
Doubt that personally, even if you cleared 30 after fees and postage on each game (which I don't think you will), you'd still only get 120, you'd need to be clearing 35 after postage and fees, meaning you'd have to sell each game for 43 each, don't see that happening not a quick sale at least

cex is the safer quicker option imo anyway 116 cash

seems like you forgot about eBay & PayPal fees and even postage fees.
a big chunk will be taken by eBay & Paypal (around 16%) and then there is recorded delivery cost of around £2.50 each.so even if you can sell them for £140 you will be left with around £105-£108 after fees and p&p.

Buy this from Tesco for £277.99 then trade in all the games (except Battlefield 1) and console into GAME for a total of £291 on a GAME card (to go towards getting PS VR obviously). The breakdown is £99 total for the games and £192 for the PS4 Slim console as they will beat CEX quotes by £1 when you provide proof. Essentially it’s £13 off a VR headset and a free copy of Battlefield 1. Or alternatively if you don’t want Battlefield 1 you could trade it in for an additional £37, so you could get £50 off a PS4 VR headset easily for buying this from Tesco and trading the lot to GAME.

10% off this week with Tesco staff discount. Shame they didnt do this deal last week when it was 20% off.

haven't played either of these games yet but generally for sp campaign no code is required unless you want to unlock certain optional features like extra optional character etc
you don't need psn subscription for single player modes.

also cex doesn't care about used/expired codes as far as i know.
Andy@XCite
31 Oct 16 2 #57
There is a code with Mafia but it doesn't provide much extra content (a car, a weapon).
You will need PS+ to play BF1 & Overwatch online but you can play the SP portion without PS+. Tomb raider has co-op online but Mafia 3 doesn't have any online elements.

I often sell my games to CEX (for cash) as it is easy and they usually offer decent prices (check their online website). I always use or keep the codes.

Mafia 3 is probably the one which will drop in price soon at CEX (imo).

31 Oct 16 #72
Sucks to be them then.

£140 - £4 fees - £2.40 x 4 for 2nd class signed for - £5.56 payapl fees = £120.84

And that's with me lazily choosing prices for the games that would sell, not the maximum.

On top of that he asked how much he'd get. He would get £140 or so...minus fees.

A far cry about £105.

Again it all depends if he can get that ebay code and whether he can list the games in the next 7 hours.
otherwise all these calculations will be pointless and misleading cause he didn't say if he was offered that code.

quotes based on a code that is available to selection of people and only for a few ours is not really the normal.
the real standard rates are what really counts.
drummerdickens
31 Oct 16 2 #80
I see so many people saying they are holding out for better deals. I was one of them, but at some point I'd actually like to have a PS4 and not be waiting years waiting for the price to go down month by month.

I pulled the trigger 2 weeks ago on a 20% off warehouse deal but if I hadn't have I'd definitely be settling on this one!
ando
31 Oct 16 #81
The items have to sell before the code expires not listed before it expires, you list them with the code then if they sell before the code expires that's the max, or is that wrong? can't see ebay letting it run until it sells, even so she's still off, even if it was 1 pound max, who sends a 40 quid game to someone with no tracking, 2 quid each postage, then the paypal fee on each

so 4.50 on fees and postage on each game, still meaning she'd need to sell them at 40 each to clear 35.50 on each game, some are available cheaper than that too, that's all providing they sell within the time limit of the code which is a ask in itself

Savage deal! Three completely different games, top games in fact. Unless you have a true HDR TV and a large 55 inch plus 4K, really isn't worth spending the extra money on a PlayStation pro. Unless you're very hot on the latest tech and want 1080p, 60FPS more often. I think we have about three to four more years max before the next generation PS5 etc. So this is a hot, current deal. As for the games, I've played them all.
Rise of the tomb raider - graphically stunning, good adventure that rivals uncharted series.
Mafia 3 - it has got some stick, can be repetitive, but the story is amazing, true gangster film type and I've thoroughly enjoyed playing it. Like to see a fourth one.
Now battlefield 1 or Titanfall 2 - depends if you like realistic old war style combat or futuristic mech assaults and general crazy fun jumping everywhere. For me Titanfall 2 hands down. Never had so much fun playing a FPS.
Heat and if someone gets this for Christmas..... boy are they going to have fun!

The Slim and Pro aren't meant to complete with each other, so not really.

All depends on what the uptake of Ps4 Pro is. If many existing users buy it, then retailers may panic and try to shift units. But I can't see that many people paying £300+ for something when if you own a 1080p monitor there is no assurances it will improve frame rates.
Tequila
31 Oct 16 #100
the item needs to be listed before the code expires.after that you will be paying the promotional fee even if its a 30 days listing.

1 Nov 16 #120
Yeah, it's all lies

Sony are just trying to get people to pay more for their PS4's, actually they stuffed old PS1 boards inside the console hoping nobody would notice.

There is a list of games which are getting enhanced, more will follow and of course future games. Why the doubt?
drummerdickens
1 Nov 16 #121
I think it's perfectly reasonable to want to see, with your own eyes and via reviews, what the affect will be and whether it will be worth it rather than just taking in the sales pitch of Sony who obviously want to sell some consoles?

I don't get whats so hard to understand about that. I have no doubt it could be an amazing machine but we haven't seen it in action yet. You talk about lists, well, No Man's Sky had a list of all the awesome things that game would do and it turned out to be utter tripe.
jayjayuk1234
1 Nov 16 #122
With the threat of a new Microsoft console next year, -albeit a desperation bid by Microsoft... Sony will surely push the PS4 Pro features to show what added benefits it will give players? The benefits are mostly going forwards, however Sony would have advised all the software developers about their plans way in advance and it's an added selling point for slightly older games too!

No Man's Sky was made by an Indie developer wasn't it? and was also released for PC... what does that have to do with new hardware? Are you saying that because No Man's Sky was in your opinion 'tripe' that means the PS4 Pro will add nothing to gaming on the PS4? in fact what exactly are you saying? They doubled the graphics power of the PS4 just to sell more consoles? and have no plans to use the extra power?

PS4 games are mostly developed on a PC, games coming across from PC have more graphical potential than the current PS4 hardware can comfortably run at 60fps or even 30fps, so they are toned down a bit. The PS4 pro will naturally mean they have more power to use if you own the Pro console? They don't really need to do that much more work for this feature!

It would be like replacing a 4 year old graphics card in your PC and to not expect better performance and detail from games that offer a higher setting than your old card used.
Tequila
1 Nov 16 2 #123
if you want better experience and can afford it, the PS4 Pro is a no brainer simple as that.

and it's not just relevant for 4K HDR TV owners.that's just a cheap excuse from those who are buying the Slim version at discounted prices.lol

Pro will provide higher frame rate and resolution regardless of your TV being 4k or full HD.

so if you care about better gaming experience: better gameplay frame rate and higher resolution,AND you can afford it,then you should ignore these PS4 Slim / original PS4 deals even if they work out £120 for you.

How much Cex is paying for this console?
drummerdickens
1 Nov 16 2 #125
Like I say, I will wait until the reviews have come out and a good number of games are upscaled. They're not going to phase out games for the PS4 slim any time soon so I am more than happy.

I also never buy consoles at launch immediately and there are plenty of games on the PS4 that will tide me over just nicely.
REAL_DEAL
1 Nov 16 #126
check online its quicker , thats what they do in store anyway £165 , so no profit making at the moment, still got an XB1 S not sold (cashed in) as price bloody dropped from £193 > £165 now only £152 missed the boat as was £193 in my local 10 days ago........

its when they check online that messes it up.

I used to be a gamer, but realised life is too beautiful outside, like taking dance lessons, acting lessons, theatre or playing a musical instrument, is much better than the whole distracted generation with no attension span. Granted yeah we all need to switch off sometimes, but games these days are like interactive movies, too intensivly focused on realitic graphics rather than core gameplay. that and also i just recently discovered the earth is flat, meaning we are all living in a simulation, trapped in our short life span on this dome. so yes ps4 is ok, but not a big step up from ps2 to ps3

good deal if you are easily pleased.
but I found both X1 and PS4 very un-impressive.bought both and sold both after few months.
I'd wait for PS4 Pro,at least it will deliver much better frame rate and 1080 resolution.

Mafia 3 is now out of stock :disappointed:
jayjayuk1234
1 Nov 16 #131
Well, yeah thats fair enough, but that's purely your decision and not a statement of fact. There are assurances that the Pro will improve some PS4 games, because that's what it was designed to do! - which was my initial argument

The price difference between the slim and pro isn't a huge jump, no one has stated the slim has no use anymore, there is also a budget range of video cards on the PC for people who want casual gaming, but have no interest in cutting edge graphics that high end graphics cards offer.

Some people are still happy with their PS3

You pay your money, you takes your choice

p.s re your scaling comment, it's not just about uscaling to 4k, 1080p games will look graphically superior on Pro enabled games
Gixxerman001
1 Nov 16 1 #132
....hmmm, so we've been led to believe but there's a very recent interview with Sony’s chief PlayStation architect Mark Cerny who said that in the effort to ensure 100% reliability with existing PS4 games 1/2 the pro's GPU shuts down.
So, little or no improvements.
This also begs the question just how many devs are going to go back & devote resources to creating worthwhile patches for what will necessarily be (at least for quite some time) a niche market.

I've been looking forward to getting a pro but I have to say this interview (and the lack of 4k Blu-ray player) has really put me off, for now at least.

Ok, i just sold titanfall2, overwatch and tomb raider today on ebay. just mafia still need to sell. paypal fee is around £1.39 for each.
1st class signed is £2.37 each.

ebay fees
http://i68.tinypic.com/wgoz1t.jpg

so i received total earning of: £83.73
i just need to sell mafia 3. i hoping to get around £30 after fee and postage.

so £164 just for the console is not bad

ohh i get £4.17 back from quidco, so making it £159.83

1 Nov 16 #136
You're totally ignoring what I'm saying

My point is that these assurances mean little to me until I see them. You keep saying "but it will definitely happen!". Yes, I am sure that is likely but I will wait for the time being.
jayjayuk1234
1 Nov 16 #137
I am not ignoring what you're saying, just pointing out that the Pro is purpose built for this very thing. There is no other reason for the console to exist otherwise!

It's not even really a new console tbh, it's the same PS4 with an upgraded graphics board.
WorldUK
1 Nov 16 #138
Is there any other game accepted instead of Mafia 3? ...
Tequila
1 Nov 16 #139
you are saying the PS4 Pro's extra power won't be utilised, and Sony are just crazy and they are making a console with updated hardware without any actual benefit and use.
the whole point of PS4 Pro is to improve these games, increase the frame rate and increase the resolution.because simply the hardware was not good enough.
do not worry about developers, they will be making those changes with simple patches and will "have to" make "Pro" option in future games.that's the whole point.
we don't need to wait and see what happens, because Pro is made to make those changes.that's why it's coming.

Its all about the Titanfall. The BF1 gameplay is just so dated. HEAT ADDED
WorldUK
2 Nov 16 #143
Titanfall is nice, but there is only "future" warfare that has come in recent years nothing "normal" or old age, and here BF1 takes the title without the question, as its "something" of a kind , not another cod copy. And here a quote, that "players" prefer BF1:

"According to those tracking both games over how many online players are currently accessing the titles, Battlefield is reported to have nearly 10x that of Titanfall 2.

For some clarity, at one point in the last 24hrs, websites tracking the two games concluded that Battlefield 1 had over 110,000 on PC, Xbox One 92,000 and PS4 225,000.

Meanwhile Titanfall 2 on PC had over 11,000, Xbox One 36,000 and PS4 26,000. It’s a large different but there is also a few other things to consider."
darkbill
2 Nov 16 #144
CEX has cut their buying prices for all of these games, except Battlefield which is still £32. So all four games would bring in about £107 and not £116.

Still £180 for a PS4 Slim still seems like a good deal to me. Not really interested in these four games so will sell them to CEX anyway.

Missed out on the £149 deal for the non-Slim PS4, and this seems like a pretty solid alternative. Likewise, PS4 Pro would be nice but I don't have that kind of money, and to be honest anything under £200 is about it for me.

I could have held out till Black Friday, but it's a total bun fight based on previous experience and even if there were big price cuts I'd have no guarantee of getting one of them. And I seem to remember that last year most people were saying BF was a big let down?

However, there will be some good PS4 game deals around Black Friday anyway, and I picked up SW Battlefront a couple of weeks ago when ASDA had it for £10 - so already got a game I want to start things off.
Gixxerman001
2 Nov 16 #145
No, I'm questioning the claim that existing games are going to see much, if any, improvement as some have been claiming.
I doubt that very much now.

Yes, I agree, for future games.
I just can't see too many rushing to spend the money 'fixing' existing games as has been part of whats been claimed by so many so far.
I have my doubts regarding the patching being 'simple' too, especially if they are to truly exploit the pro's power.

It's very obvious, given Mark Cerney's comments, that the pro is going to do nothing to fix issues wuith existing games straight out of the box....which begs the question, what is the point of it right now?
Where is the range of games designed to exploit the pro's power (& when are they coming)....and when are these patches coming?
chocci
2 Nov 16 #146
£190 after sale of the games as overwatch as also been put up by £10

not that great a deal now really and OP really should update the headline price to £288
Tequila
2 Nov 16 1 #147
it CAN be as simple as adding a patch to "unlock" or "access" higher resolution/more graphical details/higher frame rate.the whole game doesn't need to be re-designed like a hd remaster obviously.similar to the way games have different settings on PC.since these games are all designed on a PC and majority of them have PC ports, it's not unreasonable to think a simple patch can "unlock" those features.aka PRO mode.

here are the titles that are currently confirmed to receive "Pro" patch update :

Battlezone
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
Battlefield 1
FIFA 17
Dishonored 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
Final Fantasy XV
For Honor
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Watch Dogs 2
First Light
Infamous: First Light
Shadow of Mordor
Days Gone
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Killing Floor 2
Spider-Man

(source http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/these-are-the-first-games-getting-a-ps4-pro-4k-makeover-1328162)

and here is a quote from Sony NA:

Following PS4 Pro’s launch on November 10 in North America, virtually all new PS4 game releases moving forward will be able to take advantage of PS4 Pro capabilities on day one, or in some cases shortly after launch via a downloadable update. Some titles previously released will be updated to take advantage of PS4 Pro features, including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, The Last of Us Remastered, Infamous Second Son First Light, Shadow of Mordor, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and more.

(source http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/09/08/ps4-pro-the-ultimate-faq/)

I'm not saying every single current game will have Pro mode, but MANY will, specially the AAA titles.and ofcource there is no doubt new games will ALL have Pro mode.that's a reason enough.

Collected it from my local Tesco, went four doors down the street to Cex and got £102 for 4 games I didn't want.

I know some people always have to be winning, but I'm a happy camper. :-)

Its back to 277!!!
For everyone who bought it at 288 (like me), I just called the tesco direct and said, I haven't even collected the items I ordered and they are already £10 cheaper, so how do we do this, either I don't collect it and place a new order and save me a tener or can u do it over the phone, he just checked it online and voila 10 pounds back, bringing this back to 277.99

YES!!!, I did just the same over the phone and got the 10 back coz of overwatch dropping 10 pounds and I didn't even collect my order yet, he said and I quote "we have a 28 day price match".... now whether that was specific to tesco direct prices or something else no clue.... hope this helps

I've got the larger PS4, but i find it a little noisy, even after stripping it down and cleaning it out.

I know i could get about £170 for it.
