The PS4 pro doesn't have a 4k Blu ray player, it would have driven the price up, and whilst the PS4 pro will be able to do some 4k stuff it is not really a 4k console, there is huge confusion over this it seems.
The next generation playstation will be a 4k machine, microsoft have announced theirs (the scorpio) and Sony will no doubt bring out a true 4k machine next year, or the year after - we don't know yet. That console will likely have a 4k bluray player
The Xbox One S has a 4k bluray drive, it lacks a lot of features that a standalone 4k player provides however.
The PS4 was already graphically superior to the Xbox One, (even though they are both 1080p) and the PS4 Pro will be even more so
Microsoft have pretty much given up this generation, which is why they announced their next gen console already so early.
The PS4 pro is £349 at launch, but PC gamers shell out more than this for a new high end graphics card alone

Just wait until Scorpio is launched next year (2017 holiday). Got a feeling SONY will probably end up announcing a revised beefier model of Pro or maybe they will release the beast PS5. Remember were not going to see console refreshes every 5+ years. The release/revised models are becoming more like mobile phones these days.

Interesting discussions here so basically a lot of people are writing the pro off before launch!
I myself was thinking of getting a ps4 slim but still uncertain about the pro
Surely, the vr experience on the pro would be better than the slim?
Vr is very over priced. Think about it. Vr is the same price as a ps4 pro
This is insane
Someone here said the ps4 pro is not a 4k console how did u come to that conclusion? It says 4k on the box lol

Because even developers have said their games are not genuinely/literally 4K. That's probably why.

I would suggest you look up the specs. Looks different. Isn't different. Original PS4 for £199.99 is the best option by far - and a 1Tb HD really isn't going to cost you much and many will already have these to transfer into the PS4 anyway - which is a lot less scary than I originally thought it was going to be.

Hope so, however they announced this back during the original Xbox One Launch, and it never materialised

Microsoft introduces Dolby Atmos and Bitstream support for Xbox One
For normal normal Xbox One and Xbox S
Dolby Atmos support will arrive with the Windows 10 Creators Update in early 2017.
The only reason I'd consider a pro would be for improved VR and we don't know how that's going to pan out yet.
Other than that HD is more than enough for me and I've never come across a game that struggled with a standard PS4. The lack of improved disc player renders it pretty pointless.

Hence why they will have to drop the 1TB PS4 Slim by a good £50. No one is going to pay £300 for the 1TB PS4 Slim when £20 more will get you the Pro.
Likewise, the Pro will probably be £300 plus a latest game when it launches so bargains ahead for the PS4 Slim methinks.
Sony have mucked up with the Pro - there is just not enough value add to make you buy it but enough value add that it makes the PS4 Slim look expensive unless the price drops. In the background you have the Xbox s undercutting them all pricewise so Sony have some big decisions in the next week or so to make regarding price of ALL PS4 consoles.

I suspect the Pro will be noisy at launch. I also suspect, because it is not that impressive spec wise, that before the MS Scorpio comes out in 12 months that we will see, by next October, a PS4 Pro 2 with upgrades, such as a 4K DVD drive and Full/True 4K, added to it.
The current PS4 Pro is not that impressive IMPO and certainly not worth the premium. I think this is a great opportuunity to get a PS4 Slim at a decent discount price.
I want the 1TB PS4 Slim and a state of the art game for £249.99 - think I will get it in the coming weeks.

Don't get me wrong, good price. Just don't understand why anyone who hasn't bought a PS4 yet would buy a slim, when the Pro version is out in the next couple of weeks. Saying that, the Pro gives so little extra with regard to features, they may as well actually lol

There is literally no point in buying this if you have a PS4. And if you still want a PS4, go for the £199.99 Simply Games option which went freezing cold - probably because no one voting cold grasps the fact that a PS4 and a PS4 slim are identical. HDR support has now been rolled out across the board and as a firmware update to every single PS4 out there. So for the sake of...oooh...an extra socket - why on earth pay £30 over the odds.

As far as I've gathered, the Pro gives a slightly better graphical performance than the Slim/vanilla PS4 and supposedly handles VR better as well. I don't have a 4K tv, graphics are good enough for me as it is and I don't plan on getting a VR (at least until they drop down in price hugely). All in, the Slim is a no brainer for me.

26 Oct 162#20
Yeah, I agree with you, as per my last sentence. There's just not enough of an upgrade for me, just a slight graphical uplift. There's always that part of me that would want the most up to date machine, but hey.

Ok, but i started the conversation politely explaining that the PS4 Pro was not just about 4k
What do you mean by 'this late on'???
The PS4 has only been out 3 years! that's nothing compared with previous generations!
Microsoft are the ones pushing for the next generation because their current console is lacking, so they're trying to get everyone excited by publishing a load of made up specs for a console that hasn't even been built yet, realising that throwing a 4k bluray drive at their console isn't quite enough to keep people interested
The Pro will keep people happy for another year, the addition of a 4k drive lacking HD audio bitstreaming in the xbox one won't
If you're happy with your current console, that's fine. Some people like to play the games with the best visuals they can get.
Same as some PC gamers play games with a low/mid range video card and some spend £1000's on multiple GPU setups, whatever floats your boat and fits your budget!

Crying? very mature. I actually thought I was having a conversation. Top and bottom is I think the PS4 Pro is too much for what it is especially this late on. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I paid £150 for a PS4 a few weeks ago because I was happy with it.
jayjayuk1234
26 Oct 162#15
This conversation started with what i thought was a genuine questions, then turned into something else
The XBox One S is basically an XBox One with a 4k drive and not much else.
The PS4 Pro is a PS4 with much increased graphics capability
Not sure what the difficulty to understand? if the PS4 Pro had the extra graphics muscle and the 4k bluray drive the price would have shot up by another £100 and you would be crying even more
oUkTuRkEyIII
26 Oct 161#14
There is a comment from someone who has nothing else to say. The Xbox One S is over £100 cheaper than the pro and includes a 4K player. Regardless if it's for watching films or not it's a great addition for less money.
Night x
jayjayuk1234
26 Oct 16#13
Eh? consoles should be primarily for playing games not watching films? the market is already flooded with devices that can play and stream video  - this is one major reason Microsofts Xbox One didn't fair as well as Sony's machine this generation as they were too busy messing around with media functions and not the gaming prowess.
The Pro is just a name, i guess they felt is was for pro gamers
oUkTuRkEyIII
26 Oct 162#12
Oh it doesn't have a 4K player? I'm starting to wonder where they got pro from.
Driven the price up? Xbox One S has a 4K player and was bought by people at launch for £200-220.
From this day forward I will call it the Microsoft Xbox One S Pro.

jayjayuk1234
26 Oct 161#9
It will be 1080p, but with better quality textures, better anti aliasing. extra atmospheric affects, Faster framerates
The PS4 Pro is basically a PS4 with a new upgraded graphics card inside, just like you would upgrade your video card on your PC. Games will run smoother and there will be more juice left for extra graphical enhancements
Not all 1080p is created equal
