Heat as the best price. But my order for £299 messed up and now I've decided to wait until next year. This console isn't a Pro. Weak internal hard drive and lack of UHD player. I will wait until they bring out a nicer looking console, limited edition colour, make etc that comes with at least a 2TB hard drive or SSD. I appreciate you can change the hard drives, but for me this is quite weak of Sony. Plus the time the Scorpio comes out, I can buy that alongside a decent 4K HDR OLED TV.
For those who are buying it, enjoy and with the upgraded 1080p 60fps, should be fun enough anyway.

I doubt you will get anything back. I pre-ordered an Xbox One S using the £20 off code a while back taking the price to £229. They dropped the selling price to £224 on launch day so they only refunded me £5 - the difference between what I actually paid and their selling price. Unless this drops below the price you're actually paying I don't think you'll get any money back.

It's just my personal opinion. Xbox one s has the UHD blu ray player. For me it's basics. If that's the case why would Sony be hot on putting a blu ray player in the original PS3. Regardless of the player, this is Sonys statement, this is their best PlayStation, last one for this generation. It's their elite one. That's what they have said, last upgrade for the PS4. Adding a small hard drive is pathetic. Microsoft have messed up in the past and sorry but Sony have balls up on this one. It's not elite and it's not a pro. As a neutral gamer, I want them to both do well and I am gutted they have messed this up.

The PS4 is touted to be for 'gamers', it's 3 years old now and needs a graphics refresh, so thats what they have done to keep people happy until the next gen of true 4k consoles.
If you were a PC gamer, £350 every 3 years on graphics hardware isn't a lot
The Xbox One was a gaming console and media player in one, and instead of increasing the graphic ability of the Xbox One S they threw in a UHD drive instead. - (albeit without proper support for HD bitstreaming and lack of Dolby Atmos and DTS-X )
Personally i use my nVidia shield for 4k streaming over my network, which also gives me Atmos and DTS-X
So, it's quite clear if you prefer a UHD drive and media over raw graphic power then buy the xbox one s! it's horses for courses
The Scorpio is at least a year away yet, and a lot will happen between now and then
The PS3 had bluray fitted as Sony were joint founders of the format, so less royalties to pay, furthermore at the time they were late to the party and the xbox 360 already had a foothold in the market. It was a clever move at the time, but these days there are lots of streaming services which are making Bluray drives not so much a necessity these days
The Pro and Scorpio are not equals.
That's like comparing an Xbox 360 with a PS4, different generation of console :smile:
Sony have yet to announce their 'next gen' console, it certainly isn;t the Pro, that's just an interim console

Scorpio is not a next gen console, as it is confirmed to be cross compatible with Xbox One. This is exactly the same situation as the PS4 pro, the only difference between the Pro and Scorpio is that Scorpio is confirmed to be much more powerful than the Pro.
And what exactly makes you think that Sony would go an announce another new console less than a year after releasing the Pro?

Were these not 'next gen' then?
The Xbox One and PS4 are now both PC based, so backwards compatability and Cross platforming is a lot easier due to this

Pro is the equal to the Scorpio. It's just released first. Ps4 slim is equal to the Xbox one s. Both slim and smaller. Scorpio is this same generation. Neither Sony or Microsoft are releasing a whole new PS4 or Xbox two/ 720 etc.
As a neutral, Sony won the race with the PS4. Microsoft messed up. With graphics power and the whole unable to hand a game to a friend (Sony joke) and more take on a multimedia unit. But towards the end of this generation (being the pro meets the Scorpio) I think Microsoft will finish on top.
But we are at least 2-3 years away from the next generation.

Was contemplating upgrading my PS4 and Xbox One day one editions, then read that it quote 'upscales' and is not NATIVE 4K -_- What is the point in that FFS!? Big opportunity missed from Microsoft AND Sony, think I will sell them both and just stick to PC from now on. As always the first people who buy the consoles are slapped down and are made to think these are far superior machines from the original when in fact they aren't. Just an upscaling drive instead of native and the same hardware just about, you won't be fooling me like you have others. Glad I own a good gaming PC, wish I abandoned console gaming sooner as it's all just one HUGE cash grab. PC's have advanced graphical options and unlimited frames too as well as modding.

some upscale...some are native.. bear in mind that its been a relatively short time since the developers received the devkits.. as they get more familar with the hardware more titles will be native 4k... even then, the upscaled 4k games are near indistinguishable at normal playing differences from a tv.. these arent pcs where the average user is 2 foot away from a monitor. these are games played on sofas 10-12 feet away from a tv.
the key point is its better than the ps4...whether its 4k, upscaled 4k or whatever...youre gonna get a better experience.. thats what theyre selling. i think they shouldnt have pushed the 4k aspect at all and just said... "this is better than the ps4... end of" now people are jumping on the 4k selling point and its not going to quite deliver..
personally i dont care about 4k yet... i want 1080p @60fps with the gfx turned up compared to the ps4. i think sony are making a rod for their own back by promoting 4k so heavily.. (the truth of it is they want to flog their 4k tv's ) they should be promoting better 1080p performance too and making it clear to the majority of customers who own regular hd tvs that theyll also benefit from getting the ps4 pro.

Agree 100% with this! The draw for me is that games like BF1 and co 'should' get a massive performance boost with better textures and frame rates. The checkerboard upscale resolution trick is a bonus for me for when I decide to buy a 4k tv (which won't be long unless the wife has her say!)

just to let you guys know, i used the £25 off coupon and since the further price reduction, i have rang tesco customer service this morning to find out if i would get the refund of the difference including the price reduction which would be £17.50..i have been advised today that we will NOT got the £17.50 because we have already benefited from the coupon which is still lower than the price reduction, she double checked this with a supervisor and was very clear that this is the policy.

There are several games outputting at native 4K. Also niether does the newest Titan play the games you are thinking of at native 4K either. The current solution deployed by Sony is clever and a good solution. Obviously the 4K or bust crowd wont be happy but there definitely are not many of them if pc gpu sales are in perpetual decline.

About Titan X, it certainly will play anything in 4k at 60fps. Even my less powerful MSI Gaming Z 1080 manages that.

I've yet to play any PC game even on my Gaming Z card at full ULTRA settings, with a fps drop below 50fps. Most play well above 60fps. Titan is faster than my card.

xbox one s has a 4k uhd drive and they are £230ish. I think 4k discs will sell when they come down in price, as it is the only way to get true 4k movies. 4k streaming uses huge bandwidth issues and when it is mainstream our internet structure woudn't cope with it, and any slight glitch in a super fast internet anyone might have, it will reduce the viewing quality. This makes 4k discs the only viable way to view 100% perfect 4k viewing.

Post release date I would imagine, certainly December and Christmas run up should see more aggressive pricing and bundles. Upto release date probably nothing, as they will want to maximise profit from early adopters.

Isn't this why the original XBONE lost out to the PS4? they went with media functions and held back slightly on graphics, you can't have it all without a price hike.
People also need to realise the 'Scorpio' is next gen console, and it exists on not much more than paper at the moment, by the time that eventually comes out Sony would have announced their next gen console,(the PS4 Pro is just effectively a graphic card update for the PS4) and people will be holding out for that one! and maybe another company will enter the race! who knows! it's a never ending circle and you can keep waiting for the next thing!

The PS4 is touted to be for 'gamers', it's 3 years old now and needs a graphics refresh, so thats what they have done to keep people happy until the next gen of true 4k consoles.
If you were a PC gamer, £350 every 3 years on graphics hardware isn't a lot
The Xbox One was a gaming console and media player in one, and instead of increasing the graphic ability of the Xbox One S they threw in a UHD drive instead. - (albeit without proper support for HD bitstreaming and lack of Dolby Atmos and DTS-X )
Personally i use my nVidia shield for 4k streaming over my network, which also gives me Atmos and DTS-X
So, it's quite clear if you prefer a UHD drive and media over raw graphic power then buy the xbox one s! it's horses for courses
The Scorpio is at least a year away yet, and a lot will happen between now and then
The PS3 had bluray fitted as Sony were joint founders of the format, so less royalties to pay, furthermore at the time they were late to the party and the xbox 360 already had a foothold in the market. It was a clever move at the time, but these days there are lots of streaming services which are making Bluray drives not so much a necessity these days
The Pro and Scorpio are not equals.
That's like comparing an Xbox 360 with a PS4, different generation of console :smile:
Sony have yet to announce their 'next gen' console, it certainly isn;t the Pro, that's just an interim console
Scorpio is not a next gen console, as it is confirmed to be cross compatible with Xbox One. This is exactly the same situation as the PS4 pro, the only difference between the Pro and Scorpio is that Scorpio is confirmed to be much more powerful than the Pro.
And what exactly makes you think that Sony would go an announce another new console less than a year after releasing the Pro?

The Xbox One and PS4 are now both PC based, so backwards compatability and Cross platforming is a lot easier due to this
Besides the Scorpio much more powerful! but is at least a year away anyway??? a year?? lol graphics hardware moves quickly, of course plans for a console a year away is bound to have potential for more power, guess what PC graphics will also be better then also.................however we're talking about today not the future.

Sony will naturally respond with their own 4k console even more powerful again and so on and so on, maybe a Pro 2 if you don't think we're changing generations.... what did you think they would do? just sit on their hands?

As a neutral, Sony won the race with the PS4. Microsoft messed up. With graphics power and the whole unable to hand a game to a friend (Sony joke) and more take on a multimedia unit. But towards the end of this generation (being the pro meets the Scorpio) I think Microsoft will finish on top.
But we are at least 2-3 years away from the next generation.

This **** cracks me up. A lot of people seem unaware too though and think they're getting some £350 console that has the power of a Titan X.
the key point is its better than the ps4...whether its 4k, upscaled 4k or whatever...youre gonna get a better experience.. thats what theyre selling. i think they shouldnt have pushed the 4k aspect at all and just said... "this is better than the ps4... end of" now people are jumping on the 4k selling point and its not going to quite deliver..
personally i dont care about 4k yet... i want 1080p @60fps with the gfx turned up compared to the ps4. i think sony are making a rod for their own back by promoting 4k so heavily.. (the truth of it is they want to flog their 4k tv's ) they should be promoting better 1080p performance too and making it clear to the majority of customers who own regular hd tvs that theyll also benefit from getting the ps4 pro.
Project scorpio to me sounds like a generation jump because of the power difference and time of release

About Titan X, it certainly will play anything in 4k at 60fps. Even my less powerful MSI Gaming Z 1080 manages that.
Also no the titan X or 1080 GTX cant do Uncharted level games at 4K with playable frame rates. Its not realistic right now though they are getting warmer.
These cards certainly can.
I've yet to play any PC game even on my Gaming Z card at full ULTRA settings, with a fps drop below 50fps. Most play well above 60fps. Titan is faster than my card.

Not good enough given the prices. Makes the PS4 Pro look like the bargain of the century. I will keep upgrading my pc's but I am not happy with the gpu pricing situation. Against previous consoles you could blow them away easily.
