Tinny?
The sound from these headsets are great Virtual 7.1 is solid. You must have a defective one or some other problem.
The only downside to these is that the band is prone to cracking. Otherwise these are... cracking! (pun intended).

Speaking from experience this is the best headset I've ever had. And Ive had quite a few headsets. The only problem I had is the fact I have a large head and I kept snapping them every time I put them on. I fixed it eventually with a lot of flexible super glue.

Are you sure you haven't just got chat volume turned up high? From the FAQ:
Q: What does the Sound/Chat button do?
A: The Sound/Chat button adjusts the volume of voice chat in relation to the game sound. If you want chat volume to be louder, press on the “Chat” side of the button. If you prefer louder game sound and a decrease in voice chat volume, press the “Sound” side of the button. To reset to the default setting, hold both the Sound and Chat buttons down simultaneously until you hear one long beep.
Note: If you maximize the game sound, you will not hear any voice chat, and vice versa if you maximize voice chat, you will not hear any game sound.

The most comfortable headset I've ever used, and I have big awkward ears. Had mine since launch and have been well worth the money. No sound issues for me, they go very loud. Just use buttons on the headset to alter volume, or other rocker to alter chat/game levels.

I just picked up the original PS3 version (that works with the PS4) for 19.99 in Argos bargains in Stanley, county Durham. think there are more stores across the country so worth popping in and seeing if they have some. Just thought I'd try them at that price. They don't sound as good as my Sennheisers but I didn't expect them to either, but for the price, they sound decent. I'd imagine the sound quality will be similar to these.

If you download the Razer Surround Sound app on your PC, you can output the simulated surround sound via the USB dongle and it does work :innocent:

Be careful the headband rubber is a manufacturing error these are notoriously faulty after 2/3 months use.
The rubber simply breaks down to a soft cracked flimsy headband.
I had 2 which both developed same fault, I returned both. I have a friend who is on his 3rd, the previous 2 did same thing.
Note Sonys new model is a metal headband.

Picked up some from Sainsbury's a couple of weeks ago. Sound quality is excellent, can't comment about build quality over time, although it feels good right now. Only slight gripe is that you can't adjust the earphones if you have a bigger head/lower ears. Not so much of a problem for me but maybe would be for others.

Really good sound for the price. I'm on my second pair though due to the lousy plastic/rubber headband issues mentioned above. Mic works fine wireless through PC as well & like mentioned above, if you download the free Razor Synapse program you can get simulated surround sound on PC as well.
Apparently Sony's PR themselves have posted in the past that there are a lot of fake versions of these headsets being sold which could explain some of the problems people have with sound.

As with anything that breaks it all depends on how you treat them. i have had mine for over a year and use them almost everyday and they still look brand new. Don't over stretch them and fold them away nicely when finished and they will be just fine.

Got these a few months ago. Compared to the cheapish turtle beaches I had, the only negative I have is there wasn't quite as much base.
However I love them as they are wireless, and the mic is internal and they are comfy with good sound overall.
I have to look up to see what custom settings are best for a FPS. I play Rainbow 6 Siege mostly and these are great for a game where sound is so important.

I've owned 2 pairs of these, the first pair lasted just over a year and then the battery stopped holding its charge so i took it to CEX and sold for £25, the second pair i bought on the Amazon prime day deal for £49, but i hardly use them now as i prefer using my Astro A40's as the sound quality is far more superior and they are a more comfortable fit for extended use. I cant fault the Sony's they are an excellent headset and they have served me well........ but as they say..... once you go Astro, you never go back bro (i just made that up :sunglasses: )

I no longer use the program. It did work fine until an update which meant every time I restarted my compute it kept reverting the sound output to a different device & it was a lot of faffing to sort it each time so I removed it. However I told them all about it & deleted it a while back. recently they emailed me out of the blue thanking me & informing me that the issue had been fixed.
All you should have to do is open the program & it has a drop down box which just lists all the audio playback devices/drivers windows can see (it works on any device/setup). If it's not listed there then Windows hasn't detected or installed it, I'd try another USB port.

Using on PC with USB dongle. Audio quality is really good but the microphone is reported as poor quality - tinny was the expression used. Any ideas? Is there any software to modify this? I have experimented with the microphone levels in Windows 10 but it makes no difference and disabled Skype's auto-control of volume. Still no luck.
