bought mine when they came back in stock a few weeks ago.
superb kit... loving mine to bits.
my advice is to get a glass screen protector and a nice case. I can vouch for the nvidia one which is really nice.
looking for the stylus pen now.

I also bought the Nvidia case. It is expensive, but it looks great and the magnets are really strong.
This is tempered glass screen protector i bought and i have no complaints if anyone is looking for one:
Now let's hope the Shield TV comes back into stock and is not ridiculously priced.

Love this tablet! Always used to get buffering watching videos on previous tablets. This runs flawlessly!

Isn't this RRP? Although I appreciate it has been OOS.
Personally, I hated mine and got rid after 3 months, but some like it.

It was the RRP, but Amazon upped the price a few weeks back. £20 more or something like that.

Could you elaborate on what you disliked? I'm half tempted and would like some opinions.

The big issue is the Screen on Time for me. I am seeing about 4 hours of SOT, which is not amazing.
Also no Wireless AC and it comes with no charger

Thanks for this. I have bought it and now going to check it out after all the hype from the other deal.

Reading the description is sold as the ultimate tab for gamers but only has 2GB of RAM. No good for people who like to switch between games then?

I can't really comment as i just play a game at a time, and close it down when finished with it.
3Gb of Ram would be desirable though alright

I bought this recently and it's amazing, so glad I did. Got it when the price went up but did flubit on it. So if you flubit it on this price...Wow, maybe you could get it for £130?

why oh why did they make the internal memory 16GB I know you can add an sd card but seriously why?
Never owned a tablet but thinking of buying 1. Anybody know of anything cheaper or this about the price I should be looking at paying?

I would only get one if your a serious gamer, better and cheaper tabs out there for the usual web browsing, email, youtube etc.

Hot - but why do they bother describing it as "4K Ultra-HD Ready" when it's only got a standard Full HD screen? Is anybody going to actually connect this up to a 4K monitor? Looks like a decent upgrade to my 7" Nexus though.

Why wouldn't you connect it up to a 4k TV?

The way i think about it, is the Geforce streaming, Geforce now and games that will only play on the K1 or the Shield TV, is the icing on the cake.
You may get a Tablet for cheaper but you can essentially forget about updates.
It is a solid tablet with gaming functionality, i reckon

Can anybody recommend a decent case for this? I just got this and want a decent case for it but there's loads out there-which is good? Thanks!
Thanks for that. As a man in his 50's I don't think I'll bother starting gaming :stuck_out_tongue: All I need is 1 for browsing ect but I would like to be able to skype on what I buy. Any recommendations?
Your missing a massive point, the Shield gets regular updates and will continue to and is designed for gaming if you have a Nvidia GPU you can stream full games to it something the Asus wont do. After owning the Zenfone 2 i wouldn't touch another Asus tablet or phone. The phone had a issue from new wouldnt charge to 100% so had to go back for new motherboard and the worst thing is updates you dont get any and the fact that this is a Atom CPU the same as the Zenfone 2 i wouldn't touch it, the shield is head and shoulders better Asus should stick to what they do best and stay away from phones and tablets. I have the Shield TV and love it Kodi runs flawlessly on it.

The only point I made was that the two devices are a similar price. I could list several attributes of the ZenPad; for example, it's higher screen resolution, that are 'better' than the Shield. However, I don't presume to know what peoples actual requirements are - so I highlighted the alternative and leave it to them to make a comparison based on their own needs.
P.S. I own two Shield TVs and run Plex - because it's much better than Kodi (for my requirements)

Cancelled my order after some thought. Too many mixed reviews and also Black Friday is round the corner!
If you can make do with a 7inch screen then I think the Nexus 7 32GB still offers better value for money. Especially given that Google have pushed out the latest Android release onto it.

I use this just for Gamestreaming from my pc to the tablet, it's just awesome! Only negative complaint I have as like others is the battery to screen time which is roughly only 4hrs 30mins. I've found this comparable to say gaming on an iPad though.

first impression of mine is v good! screen and sound excellent, no Wi-Fi dropouts like the Lenovo. updated to MM and it feels solid, gives a quality feel. only had it for a few hours so not tested battery life. I'm not a serious gamer, had this for browsing, but may look into that but TBH can't see it replacing my Xbox!

Don't forget with the Shield Tablet that it's also a console in its own right. You can hook it up to your TV with the right cable and play games.

7 Oct 16#55
Who connects tablets up to TVs? Is it just talking about using streaming via a device such as Amazon FireTV or Google Chrome? If that's the case wouldn't 4K compatibility depend more on the streaming device than the tablet? Or could you actually have a physical cable between the two?

I've got my Linx 1010 tablet connected to my tv for using Kodi! Its a cheap, dedicated media center which with running windows too means I can do lots of stuff with it, and its obviously silent. I use the Aeon MQ7 skin in Kodi and it works like a charm, better in fact than an old i5 laptop I was using which had 8GB of RAM and an SSD....

I'm looking at these & getting confused as there's a few different ones. Are the tablets all the same but some come with game pads & some don't?
