Aggressive deforestation of orangutan natural habitation. If the video footage is to be believed these animals are usually burned alive, the survivors poisoned or shot. Generous estimates give Borneo, Sumatra and Malaysia around ten years before that entire ecosystem is wiped out due to intensive palm oil harvesting. Hence Meridian Peanut Butter's use of a cheerful primate on their labels

Alas not uncommon. The first ten odd miles around the coast of Thailand (the part the tourists do not visit) has been turned into a series of artificial lagoons and pools given over to intensive prawn farming. Essentially the prawns are born and raised in battery fashion, fed on liquid pig manure (economical as pigs are raised on these farms too) and harvested once they reach the desired weight
Yeah, deforestation in Malaysia is fairly bad (Borneo should be added to this since whenever Westerners mention Borneo, they almost always mean the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak rather than the Indonesian state of Kalimantan. And they definitely don't mean Brunei  )
It's really bad in Indonesia though, slash and burn deforestation has been marked as the primary culprit for the really bad and overly regular occurrences of haze in Malaysia and Singapore.

Palm oil is virtually a superfood now as it is a saturated non animal fat.

Aside from all the ethical issues raised it's a fantastic deal which I've made full use of. Ordered a few other items including this yesterday and received a 700g jar today, all free delivery! I didn't spend more than 6 quid
Opening post
On the images for Crunchy it shows a 340g jar, but the rest of the details show 700g... I will be able to confirm when my order comes tomorrow.
