Hi All, I just ordered a dual sim one from the France store and got a cashback and a discount. Phone and dock - £283.35 and cashback ontop of this of £14.87. The way to do this is to open the link through topcashback as usual - on the bottom left change the region to france - francais (if you use chrome its easy to get an auto translate). Order as normal, select Grand Betagne obviously as the region. I checked with Microsoft and there is no issue with this - the phone is fully unlocked and covered by Microsoft by their warranty - it supports all networks. And unlike the X3 or any future Surface Phone its really really cheap.
I have already an iphone, an android and an aging windows phone - this will be a great and cheap replacement for my lumia 830 windows phone (with an awesome camera) - incredible deal. Forget the fanboys - this is a great device and will serve you well for years - plenty of apps and now W10 mobile is pretty bug free. Highly recommended!!! - SINGH

Will be? I thought the platform was already pretty much dead, or kind of undead. The users have run away, developers have been fired, a number of high profile apps have left the store, and the Android emulator has been cancelled. So, what exactly is keeping Windows 10 Mobile alive?
Somehow Microsoft is really good at shooting themselves in the foot. Like the best camera in the 1020 - except it had a 2 second delay when taking a picture, so you would get a super sharp image of what isn't there any more. Or the whole Continuum concept: long announced, but then not supported by the hardware. The unified apps that never materialised etc.
Microsoft mobiles will be the next BlackBerry for sure.

With the jump to Android and the release of the Priv, DTEK50 and soon DTEK60, BlackBerry may be turning things around a little, I know I for one am waiting on the DTEK60 to see if John Chen actually did learn something about the pricing of the Priv cause if it is competitive it'll be one of the better flagship choices due to BlackBerry's additional security baked in to Android. Microsoft on the other hand are going the way of Palm and WebOS, in to oblivion forever. Which is a shame cause much like WebOS, Windows 10 for mobile is actually very good. :disappointed:

you won't get those cash back rates. I posted a Microsoft band deal with similar cash back. But instead of the promised 50 it was 6.
great if you could get it. But you likely won't

Confused as to why they would offer this then not payout. Is there any way to confirm this. Is there not a caveat that says tracks initially at a lower rate?
Will Windows OS still be supported unlike the lumias

I am awaiting for cashback for a laptop bought over a month ago, only tracked £2 instead of the promised £130 and MS have not responded yet. so don't hold your breath on the cashback for this deal.

Which won't happen. If Windows 10 Mobile continues to fail (and I suspect the expected Surface Phone will have something to say about that) then Microsoft will abandon hardware and simply work on their software for iOS and Android. There's no value in them continuing to make hardware for a rival operating system, it's an expensive business and one which they've had limited success.

a series of consistent wrong decisions is leading the fast demise of win mobile platform.

Excuse my ignorance, but I just updated my 735 to Windows 10. Did you download the 'Upgrade Advisor' (or Update Advisor, cant remember what it's called) from the app store?
I will never forgive Microsoft for enslaving the greatest phone manufacturer all time , Nokia, and forcing them to make their garbage phones for them. In a parallel universe I imagine fabulous android phones made by Nokia with their design and workmanship.

It was a decision by the Nokia board to put all their eggs in the Microsoft basket. By the time they realised their mistake and tried a couple of Android models they were already in serious trouble.

One of the conditions that Microsoft laid at the time of purchasing on Nokia is that Nokia doesn't make any phones until end of this year.........
by end of this year I think Nokia is free on their will as before to make phones as before...

Well MS did put one of their people into the board to help make the decisions necessary to destroy Nokia. Then MS make a complete shambles of it and now windows phone is almost dead as well.

My wife has had 2 x windows phones in the last 5 years and she loves it! It is now starting to bite though with the sheer lack of apps for everything. I think come Christmas time I will be treating her to a new android phone and I reckon it's time to retire the trusty Lumia 1020 she owns. It's such a real shame, it works flawlessly and is a really good phone. If there were apps, I would be all over this deal like a rash.
I remember watching Coronation Street about 12 months ago and every shot of a mobile was a Windows phone, some kind of marketing advert? I'm pretty sure it was.
Shame on you Microsoft, you had something so good, but failed us all!

I'm still undecided whether to buy this or wait to see what is happening with Surface Phone. Either way, I think I may be switching to iPhone next year Xmas with 7S/8 (whichever is the true next generation of it). I'm not massively concerned by he lack of apps as I really don't use that many, but if the manufacturer doesn't care about the product then there is no point in supporting it.

iPhone 7
1334-by-750-pixel resolution at 326 ppi

They are yes but won't since they don't have the factories or staff with knowledge of mobile design anymore.
In fact believe they've already signed an agreement with a large Chinese ODM for the Nokia name to be a 'badge'. They also released a tablet this way last year.

Microsoft never failed us. They sat on their pc fortune and with lack of innovation raked in the money. They never saw how important phones would become. The apple pc lawsuit saw apple lose the battle over wimp but won the war over phones. Nokia saw it coming but maemo came too late they sat on symbian too long. Its too late for Microsoft to start crying when people say I've got a phone that's a computer why do I need a pc. Microsoft will be gone soon as pc and phone sales dry up

Took the plunge went for the student deal with a nuscard. Topcashback tracked fine, free dock too. Assuming cash back is paid that's a nice bit of hardware for £185. Dead platform or not, that's worth it, even if sell on for a hundred in a year.

I'm really tempted by this. I had 5 years of windows phones, thought I'd try the other side, so bought an LG G4 in January, but not loving android. The downside is that comparing the 950 and G4 side by side, their tech specs seem almost identical. Is Windows 10 still lightweight in terms of processing loading compared to android (like WP8 was)? If not, then I'm unlikely to see much benefit from the Lumia over keeping the G4.
Cheers
