Found poundland are selling spray paints - both the gold, as pictured, as well as silver and grey. 250/300ml sizes.
Great for crafts (dare I say Christmas) and giving your furniture a new lease of life.
The gold is a generic spray paint, though the silver is marked as a 'silver wheel' spray but this did a fantastic job for crafts for me - and hey surely it's hard wearing. The grey is a 'wheel primer' - I've used plenty of primer sprays in my up cycling before and they look fantastic as a final colour though I haven't tested this one.
Available in the DIY section next to all other car bits and pieces, should be nationwide.
Spray paints usually retail for at least £5 so this is a great deal for the limited selection.

Might not be everyones cup of tea, but have just used the Poundland grey primer on this old chair, took 3 tins but did give a good finish, not too shiny
I did notice that B&M also do a range of 300ml spray cans for £1

Cellulose was indeed used for years on cars until the development of two pack paint which is much harder and can be polished to a deeper gloss. You can still buy cellulose paint to spray at home but it takes longer to dry and is much softer than modern paint. There has been a move to safer water based paints in recent years, though these are not without issues - Mercedes-Benz had problems with cars around 2000-2003 with poor adhesion and rusty wheel arches.
I would think that the can accounts for most of the cost of Poundland paint. The 'paint' is mostly solvent ; which is why you need you shake it a lot. Good value though.
If you want paint that will dry very hard, Aldi straight to metal aerosol paint is very good. It only comes in black, white, or green (that I have seen) but is excellent for things like gates or brackets, or any outdoors painting. £3 a can. Lidl do a similar product.
Plastikote aerosols are excellent quality and come in a big range of colours but are expensive. B and M sell them.

I bought one on thursday thinking this one might not be that good. Came home and tested on my ceramic to see how good it was.
In the meantime I opened Ebay apps to check the spray paints I saved to buy. Was surprised to see that these were the ones I saved. 3.99 each inc P & P :confused:.
Can't wait to stock some more. Didn't see silver though.

The paint in the cheap aerosols in pound shops is usually cellulose so it won't be that hard-wearing but it should be fine for craft projects. If you buy those papier-mache or wooden Christmas baubles and stuff from Hobbycraft these sprays are a cheap way of jazzing them up. Next cheapest is usually places like The Range who do branded aerosol paint for about £4.

Slightly surprised you say that cellulose paint would not be hard wearing as it was used as a car paint finish for many years.
