Great deal, do you know how many were left please. Do Asda reserve stuff, anyone know? Thanks.

Got one of these from Asda a little over a year ago when they were £80 if you were lucky enough to find one. Came with Windows 8.1 then. Runs fine with Windows 10.

Seriously....buy anything else except this. Medion build and component quality is shockingly bad.
The plastic where the hinges meet the bottom bezel of the screen are particularly prone to breaking over time as the plastic is very cheap/thin and the metal inserts attach onto the thin plastic. If you see the plastic cracking over time, you had better look for some way to reinforce as when it cracks further, the LCD panel connection will break with it. In a worse case scenario, it will crack and break the connector in one go but the plastic usually starts cracking before that (giving you some warning).

What you are describing is reasonably common in many far more expensive laptops. How they're used/abused is a major factor.

I've got windows 10 on my four year old Samsung laptop after the upgrade from windows 7 & it runs as good if not better than 7 did

I've never had a single laptop crack the screen bezel near the hinge as a result the plastic being too thin/cheap and I've owned loads of laptops. Medion laptops have the shonkiest build have ever seen.

Cracks resulting from stiff hinges and/or abuse are relatively common. You've maybe just been lucky.

Not common at all. Like I said, I've owned loads of laptops, probably between 25-30 from different brands over the years and none of bezels start cracking around the hinge. It's just cheap thin plastic on the Medion.

Maybe try a search.

It's for you to back up your claim with evidence because it's utter nonsense that Apple Macbooks, Lenovo X1 Carbons, Y50s etc all have cracking bezels. The construction is very different for a start as they're better built laptops with higher quality materials to begin with.
The plastic bezels on these Medions break for the simple reason that they use cheap thin plastic which they couldn't even be bothered to reinforce or design in a better way.

I can back this up. I used to work for a company that provided the warrantee repair work for a few manufacturers of PCs and Medions were absolutely atrocious.

Owning that many laptops, did they even get much use (as in opening and closing the lid several times a day for 2 years or so..)?

Is medion not the Lada of computers. Of course the plastics are going to crack.

Maybe since they were taken over by Lenovo.
They never used to be bad - I'm speaking of the Medion brand.
I have a desktop now over 8 years old which is running Vista and so running out of steam. The on/off switch which is a Medion speciality is the only problem I have had with it. It broke after about 3 years and Medion CS had a new one delivered to me from Germany within about 4 days IIRC.

If anything the Medion was used the least and it still broke....

Desktop are very different though as they're not subject to the physical movements that laptops are, and even then every component on a desktop is replaceable for peanuts. An on/off switch costs £2 from Maplin. All it does is connect the button on the case to the motherboard. These are simple generic parts.

Had a £2k MSI laptop hinge go recently. Medion rebadged MSI for gaming laptops until recently. Now they use Clevos. Both reputable laptop companies.
