Just been outside to see how bright they are in complete darkness and they are super bright.... in a garage of that size I could have probably got away with 2 fittings. With the four though it will give me perfect light to finish painting those skirting boards (no excuses now) :smiley:

What are the fixings like with these lights

I have that one - mind came from Aldi :stuck_out_tongue: the rachet is rubbish, handy set for boot of car though.

How hard are these to wire up, I currently have a standard, house hold type drop bulb fitting in my garage

Ladders on the floor resting the light fittings are Aldi!

Just above the bike (you can just see a red handle on a portable battery jump starter).... LIDL (about 15 years old and still going).

The lights are completely sealed except the terminal end, which has a small twin terminal connector, that pushes into the end and then has a threaded end with a gromit to seal it all up. The terminals could be better to be honest but are absolutely fine once tightened.

Really?.... mines been excellent and the bits especially have lasted well (used with the Workzone Titanium Impact Drive/Drill - Red box)

On the back wall..... metal/magnetic board is Lidl I think.... got to be 15 years old, the plastic trays/holders next to it are Aldi I think.... 7 years or so old.

There are some more believe it or not hehehe.... very difficult and you might have to guess a bit as they are not branded.

Can you advise the lumen output for these fittings.... and the colour temperature if that's marked up on the box too.

Currently a 19 watt version of this in Screwfix is £36.99. I fitted it during the week and the customer was delighted. So this is great value. 19 watt = 1970 lumen

Anyone know if these interfere with FM radio ?

Would these be better than 80w 6ft flourescents.

I'd say roughly about the same brightness, but obviously a lot less power

I'll answer my own question as I've managed to find a store which still has stock

2400 lumen and a quoted 4000k colour temperature (Neutral / cool white)

Picked up three tonight, wired one up and it's good.

Slightly blue tint to the light compared with fluorescent tube, and definitely not the same spread, but get enough to cover your garage and you will be fine.

Plus points are that it's instant brightness, cheap to run, and good for my damp garage as it's IP65

I bought a couple of these for my loft do you need a junction box for it? as it doesn't seem you would be able to daisy chain them..

I went to my local Lidl at 8am but they were all sold (Lichfield).

I went to 6 stores to get enough

Picked the last three up last night from Leyland store, called at another tonight near work for a fourth, fitted three but only managed to wire one up, really happy with brightness just from one so four will be perfect in my garage. Thanks OP

I'd abandoned the idea after only trying one store but I'm away with work tomorrow and might pop into one en route towards the end of the three hour drive.

Really could do with a few of these - will call on my way down to the Midlands tomorrow.

Picked one up this lunchtime and tested it out tonight. Super bright and white light, will do a good job in the garage.

Approx 25 left in Kings Heath, Bham this afternoon. Marked at a tenner each or 2 for £17 <3

Just be aware that a strange force exists in this store that prevents them from opening more than 2 of the 6 checkouts they have. So be prepared to queue and get in everyone's way.

Where did you find them, I've been searching Berkshire Lidl stores with no joy...

I'd be very surprised if you got any now.... perhaps you might from one of the "outlet" type stores where they often group previous week sales together.... but these tend to be the bigger stores.

I fitted all mine properly yesterday... in the garage and one in the loft, very happy with the light... one of my lights was warped/bowed, which was a bit weird but it works OK and in the loft you can see the bow.

​FWIW I got 6 of these in the end at another store. brilliant! wasn't sure they were going to be bright enough but they are. Snap them up in the future! light is white white, perfect!
