Mobile graphics cards are always slower than the full desktop card. this is to cut the heat produced, run down the battery slower and because they have no actual RAM of their own (borrows from the systems total RAM).
Have you ever watched Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy? SPOILER ALERT!
In Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy the question posed of "what is the answer to life the universe and everything?" gave a disappointing result of 42. this was because the question was flawed and so could not be answered. that is why the earth was created, to discover what the question itself was.
you however don't need to go to those lengths to make your question mane sense... you just have to say which version of fifa you are asking about.
btw if its fifa 17 not a cat in hells chance because minimum spec is r9 270 (proper graphics card not mobile). while it will probably load it would probably be a horrific experience on a r9 260 onboard (mobile) graphics chip.

Hi guys looking for some advice.
Which one would you say is the better the Z50 laptop or Lenovo Ideapad 100 (link below)
Not worth paying £100+ extra unless you get a laptop with SSD. This deal laptop is a good price for a pretty good processor. If you find this laptop too slow in the future :-
1.buy a cheap SSD
2. image the C: drive to SSD
3. replace existing HDD with SSD
4. either put the HDD in an external caddy OR replace the DVD drive with the HDD (in an internal caddy)
If you need a laptop I'd say - good deal.

Do you have Student Prime? If not, you can sign up below:
You just need to send Amazon a picture/scan of your NUS card, you will get free 6 month free prime trial, then half price subscription.
Also you will get 5% off all orders sold by Amazon themselves.
If you do have Student Prime, you need to get an amazon discount code from your NUS online account and apply it on amazon website, this will remain active for a year.

I cant see it mentioned anywhere that the laptop has a dedicated graphics card. Assuming that its only the GPU integrated with fx7500, the answer is: "AMD has developed a heterogeneous architecture that allows the CPU and the GPU portions of the processor to access the computer’s entire memory space "
According to notebookcheck, in terms of 3D performance, the GPU is roughly as fast as a dedicated GeForce GT 720M.

Hi guys,
Sorry to be another noob asking tech questions. I have a z500 i5 which is approaching 3 years old. It's become pretty sluggish (despite deleting most stuff from it) so I'm looking for a new laptop. Would this offer a decent improvement (cheaper but newer) or would I be better off getting a ssd for my current one? Really appreciate any replies or insight. Happy to try and get more info if needed

The question is how much will these repairs cost? If Jimbob down the road does them and the machine blows up then you should have bought this. If Probob the specialist does them because he's married to a relative and does it for free, and this is his daytime job then repair. If there is Nobob and you have to look for one again buy this, because labour of @£25.00/ hour minimum parts socket £2.00 tops, battery £30-50 for quality non exploding you may pay @£100.00 for your 6 year old machine.

4 Oct 161#60
Actually yes you can just get an SSD, also if you have all your installation discs for laptop, and programs delete windows and do a fresh install this will take the machine back to when you first bought it and it seemed fast. It may be you have no disc but a recovery partition on the hard disc. back up your stuff first though as it will all be deleted.

If you were fine with your laptops original speed - consider reinstalling Windows(it costs you nothing). Installing SSD drive will make your old laptop way faster than this one. If you would rather buy a new laptop - this is avery good value for your money + you can upgrade it with SSD if you wish.

Apologies for going slightly off topic here, but do you know if it is possible to transfer an Amazon account from standard (non student) prime membership to student prime and still get all the benefits e.g. 6 months extra prime, 5% off and 20% off warehouse items? or does student prime only apply to accounts that have never had prime before?
As I have started doing an online course that allows me to apply for NUS card. Not fussed about the other benefits of NUS but if it would get me the student prime that would more than pay for the card and the course.

I bought this laptop before and it was so awful I sent it back.
firstly it states its a 3.3 GHz cpu but it wasn't, I contacted amazon about this to get this changed and they obviously still haven't.
also it would not recognize the cd drive in windows as the driver was very hard to find and install correctly. In the bios other usb cd/hardrives were not supported, So become very difficult to use Acronis and reinstall windows
was very disappointed :disappointed:

I believe your current normal prime needs to run out, and then you can apply for Student prime.
I had a Prime 1 month free trial before applying for my student prime, dont think it matters if you have had prime before.
If you are currently on a trial, try live chat and they may be able to end your membership early so you can apply for student prime. But bear in mind your NUS card takes approx a week to arrive.

Hope it's built better than the z50-70 I got. After about 14 months the hinges got stiffer (with the ingress of dust etc I guess) pulled all the threaded bushes out of the flimsy plastic case. I've had it apart about 4 times adding 2 part apoxy putty and adhesive to strengthen and repair each time. Adjusted hinges now so they are very free moving. Won't buy lenovo again having seen the thin plastic and poor design. Shame as the laptop works well when it's not pulling itself apart.

Okay, the reviews might not be great - though for the needs of many office workers, surely it's okay, for £215! - and the ratio of likes to dislikes on Amazon customer reviews (roughly a third are negative or had to be returned due to faults) might give pause but... at that price, I can't not give heat and if you are unlucky and do get a dud, Amazon's returns process is one of the less stressful ones out there. Should be able to get games like Fallout 4 to run but at native or even below resolution (1280x720) with every setting at minimum with a 15-30 frame rate. I have a A10 8700P laptop which is a later chipset but one down in the model range and I think slightly ahead of this model in performance depending on TDP. The Radeon R7 graphics are part of the APU not discrete and will use system memory. My Toshiba laptop defaults to 512MB for graphics with no option to change.
The Radeon gpu is better than intel gpu's in general. Pretty much standard radeon drivers which means wide support. Where as some games don't support intel gpu's at all or are flaky in operation.

Mine arrived a few hours ago. Got it up and running and installed Planetside 2 which took nearly 2 hours to download just to see if I can play it on low settings. Works well on med settings with most extras turned off. I knew it would tbh since a very old PC of mine with a HD 4670 coupled with a x4 955 seems quite capable of playing it on similar settings. Anyway got it to gift to a family member who is in higher education so it will be perfect.

I do not believe in business, multimedia grading now as most manufacturers lowered the quality in general due to falling prices.
Laptop with i5 @£300 has to be nasty as its lower specced version with celeron, pentium or budget amd apu costing £200 will be sharing the same casing and get potentially identical screen and speakers.
I have checked the Z50-75 support webiste and there is a new bios for the Lenovo dated with the end of September 2016, plenty of current drivers so although it may sufferred some teething problems the support is there. I have a good feeling that it's going to be a decent laptop once some attention is given to it.

The laptop's quality is so-so but the AMD APU is impressive for the price, very snappy. Out of curiosity I tested the laptop in passmark and it scored over 3500 in cpu test (fair enough, my desktop is far quicker but that's level of i5 Sandy / Ivy M's or the newest i3-6xxxU) .It scored almost 950 in gpu 3D, decent for an integrated graphics.
The bad - The keyboard flex is terrible, plastics seems thin, battery is small and the screen is average
The good - on top of performance and VALUE, the speakers - far better than I expected.
No throttling / overheating observed.
Not too much bloatware, just a few programs like McAfee to remove.
Good, seems a keeper.

Seam to have rattled somebody's cage.
get over it,its not £500
One of the answers to the question on Amazon states 4gb but one reviewer says 1gb... confusing.
If you want to play higher end games, I'd suggest you either get a desktop or start saving for a higher end laptop.
RJ45
1 x USB 3.0
2 x USB 2.0
Audio Combo Jack
HDMI-out
2-in-1 (SD / MMC) card reader
Which one would you say is the better the Z50 laptop or Lenovo Ideapad 100 (link below)

1.buy a cheap SSD
2. image the C: drive to SSD
3. replace existing HDD with SSD
4. either put the HDD in an external caddy OR replace the DVD drive with the HDD (in an internal caddy)
If you need a laptop I'd say - good deal.
honest opinions.

The recommended spec was a R9 270
According to notebookcheck, in terms of 3D performance, the GPU is roughly as fast as a dedicated GeForce GT 720M.

As I have started doing an online course that allows me to apply for NUS card. Not fussed about the other benefits of NUS but if it would get me the student prime that would more than pay for the card and the course.
Heated the deal, seems about the best VFM laptop at the moment.
firstly it states its a 3.3 GHz cpu but it wasn't, I contacted amazon about this to get this changed and they obviously still haven't.
also it would not recognize the cd drive in windows as the driver was very hard to find and install correctly. In the bios other usb cd/hardrives were not supported, So become very difficult to use Acronis and reinstall windows
was very disappointed :disappointed:
As for the DVD driver not been installed this is strange as they are bulk installed.
from their site

a 260 mobile is still not powerful enough though

I had a Prime 1 month free trial before applying for my student prime, dont think it matters if you have had prime before.
If you are currently on a trial, try live chat and they may be able to end your membership early so you can apply for student prime. But bear in mind your NUS card takes approx a week to arrive.
There are some other great benefits of the NUS card too! Not just prime
You may be able to get a new code from your NUS online account and apply again, but like i say i cannot confirm.
hot.
For the price and specs, it is worth to take a chance.
'Saying that, Dota 2 running on relatively high settings pushed out a measly maximum of 20fps, and around 30-40fps with the sliders turned down, rendering the MOBA game playable, but definitely not ideal for last click lovers.'
Believe it or not there are actually MMO games using modern game engines.
Took mine down to £204 which is a bargain surely?!
I see at the right hand side it has extended warranty options
Sorry forgot to mention, the listing is being sold by Amazon as NEW
Sorry but you either had a faulty machine or you don't know what you're doing, no offence
The Radeon gpu is better than intel gpu's in general. Pretty much standard radeon drivers which means wide support. Where as some games don't support intel gpu's at all or are flaky in operation.
I know it sounds incredible but if you read other amazon comments you will see that this is indeed true. I've never seen it before in all the years of building and fixing machines. Even with a clean reinstall of Win10 it will not pickup the cdrive. buy it and see for yourself.
Lenovo UK now has changed all their model numbers. You have to go back before the change to compare the different series.
G is even lower than Z, I forgot about it.
B is the lowest level for business laptop. It is a different league. You cannot say B is lower than Z.
I have a good feeling that it's going to be a decent laptop once some attention is given to it.
thanks
The bad - The keyboard flex is terrible, plastics seems thin, battery is small and the screen is average
The good - on top of performance and VALUE, the speakers - far better than I expected.
No throttling / overheating observed.
Not too much bloatware, just a few programs like McAfee to remove.
Good, seems a keeper.
Also for anyone like me with a problem using the Dvd drive use this thread to manually update driver

I stop this week for 3 days, and what a coincidence... this appeared and disappeared in that time, damn it!!! :disappointed:
Can anyone recommenced a decent SSD from amazon? Got some vouchers i'd like to use. searched the site but only found one deal for a ssd and was £20 more at amazon
