As is the usual Karcher plastic pump comment. The usual failure is people failing to drain water. So in winter the pumps go pop as they freeze up in Sheds and Garages. My K2 lasted 5 years of reasonable use. Then sold it on when I upgraded to a K5 last year.
I'm not disagreeing that Nilfisk is good. However you tend to have to pay a bit more for them.

Disconnect the input hose then run the pressure washer for about 10-15s. The pump will start to run while pushing through residual water. It won't get everything out but it will greatly reduce the possibility of icing up in the pump.
DONT run it for too long like this and you will have to power it off for it to stop. Releasing the trigger will not stop it.
