Can anyone recommend anything better for a bit more money? Easy to criticise a deal but for £150 it seems a good deal to me.
I'm looking for a TV for my daughters bedroom. 24" up to 32"
Thanks

Just in case any of you were wondering JVC the original Japanese TV maker has not made TV's for years. Dixons license the brand. These are cheap TV's made in the Far East under license

Would recommend going and having a look at these instore - for most these are fine, but was all set up to get before seeing it in-store against other things available and couldn't justify the low cost for the much lower quality. Not saying this is a bad deal, but paying a little bit more can make all the difference.

Not a fan of Kodi, would rather pay a couple of subscriptions than have to constantly update add-ons and deal with dead links. Can't beat a Roku box, has all the free streaming apps plus Amazon, Netflix and Now TV. In my experience (Sony and LG) the built in Smart features perform pretty poorly, don't know of this is the case for JVC.

If Android is a operating system just like Microsoft windows, then why can't you just upgrade the media box from Android 4 to 5 just like Windows 7 to Windows 10 ? Is the hardware so poor it would not understand or be able to handle it ?

it depends if manufacturer do a update

thats why I would personally never buy a TV with anything built in, it will be obsolete way before the picture does. think portable TV with vhs, USB media player that's not compatible with the media you want to play. the way I look at a TV is as a monitor, I have a 6 month old JVC with a HD free view recorder and a android box. the android box I will most probably replace every year, the TV hopefully not. this TV is OK for someone who wants iPlayer, YouTube etc. I have iPlayer on my HD free view box however I never use it.

Just had a look on the kodi forums & your correct :-) It never even entered my head that older Android boxes will fall in to the graveyard along with iphone 3,4 & XP.
Will need to stop buying 4.4 boxes now lol.

Your talking about Kodi 17,18,56 & 1041, when 16.1 will work in any Android smart TV.
What does Kodi 17 & 18 have to do with anything ?
Bought that for my mum excellent picture nice looking tv,But not smart like the above.

Kodi 16.1 works on Android smart TV's.

27 Oct 16#24
you could say that about any TV that doesn't have android 5 or above, i believe kodi 17 won't work on anything less than this. when kodi 18 comes along it may only be compatible with android 6 or above.

I never said anything about price, but more about passing a TV off as a "smart TV" can be classed as misleading for those who want Kodi installed.

It is smart but only iplayer so not very smart. There is a newer JVC model with freeview play so has all catch up tv on it. The new model was £179 last week but gone up now so they are trying to get rid of the old stock

it was a good buy, £119 within the last 6 months from Curry's. its the one without HD tuner or smart features, that didn't bother me as I use a free view recorder which is HD and a android box. hate Curry's but can't fault the telly.
