Not missing the point at all. I will remember next time I spot a deal without proof of purchase not to give anyone the heads up
Proof of purchase or not, half the deals on here tend to be a wild goose chase it't just your choice if you choose to chase or not.

Free marketing. Tesco know the buzz these wild goose deals create on HUKD and social networking sites; good or bad it's free advertising and gets feet through the door. They'd be silly not to game the system.

This IS a national deal , I saw a guy buy this , he also bought a 30cm Jamie Oliver frying pan too for £2.60 - on Tesco direct for £40 . I looked but couldn't find Instore - he must have go the last ones . But this is definitely a national deal .

You're missing the point, Posting a proof of purchase with your deal reassure customers and readers that the deal is genuine, it's very easy to post a picture and claim its a hot deal and sending everyone on wild goose chase for a laugh. Don't get your knickers in a twist

I get so tired of all this asking-for-receipts nonsense. The major issue here on such deals is usually availability, not OPs who lie, so it achieves very little and just creates an atmosphere of distrust,

Once any innovative site graduates from a relatively small number of enthusiasts to mass market appeal, trust always goes out the window. Remember ebay in the early days? Yes, availability is probably the major issue here but in recent years I have seen numerous posts reach mega high temperatures, that were never valid deals. Whether they were put there by mistake, stupidity or for more cynical reasons, only the OP's will ever know.
Marketing departments in all the large retailers all have social media marketeers beavering away to raise and improve the profile of their respective organisations. For Tesco, Asda et al, these end of line 'bargains' commonly found at only a handful of stores must be a gift from heaven. They are highly motivated to encourage and promote such postings on HUKD, so it's difficult not to become a bit cynical about the whole thing and hence ask for a copy of a receipt. I do feel sympathy for people relatively new to HUKD who read about a Tesco 'bargain' and make a special trip to their local store only to find it was a complete waste of time. I did a few times until I learned how the game works.

Honestly find this whole idea bit silly that tesco etc somehow put these deals out to attract HUKDers. Smaller stores yes, but it's just not worth the time for tesco. When they want to do that they do a proper promotion e.g. £10 spirits etc and get thousands of walk-ins, rather than a few hundred tight HUKDers looking for jamie oliver pans. Bargain hunters who never pay full price and are less likely to spend while they're there are hardly a prized retail market.

While you lot are debating the legitimacy of local deals, I scored the last 2 sets from my local. No panic, I made a memo when I visit Tesco to look for the Tefal set, and voila result! Info is king and the OP provided it. It's up to us how we will process it. Those calling for local deals to be banished lack that skill.
Thanks OP! <3
