I'm straight android but this seems reasonable for 128Gb of internal memory (big difference to external i.e. faster read/write speeds).

Before anyone starts getting shirty - I appreciate Apples' ease of use but Android is far more 'flexible and open'

Very or Apple? Given the price of Apple products, it's difficult to tell which company you mean.

Yes, I'm an Android user, so can't vote either way on this deal. It may be HOT for Apple users but relatively speaking, I just don't understand why people still want to spend £500+ for a phone. :s

I totally agree. They have created their ultimate device - that is completely locked down from any interference. A two year life-cycle for most. Non replaceable battery, non upgradeable memory, so called HD screen (retina HD is merely a gimmick) and not to mention the 'updates'. Apple are taking their customers for fools but that said, I have voted hot for this deal primarily because it's the best deal I've seen. I moved from Apple years ago having seen the hardware available on Android devices - that were heads and shoulders above iPhone (and still are). If you are an Apple lover this deal is for you.

I know a lot of people on here disagree with Apple products but this is a 10% back from any of the new handset... so if you were looking to buy for e.g. Iphone 7 Plus 256GB for £920 at Apple store... Very.co.uk is giving you that 10% back on that so its a great deal! heat.
tpol to iz123456789
7 Oct 16 1 #143
I agree it is a brilliant deal, but few notes of caution:

(i) Very as a company are very poor. They will often (in most cases in my experience) not credit the 10% back to the account. If you harass them enough the success rate improves but no more than half of the time. They will always say somehow you failed their eligibility for the account credit. I am not saying it is always the case, but enough of the time to be careful.
(ii) With Very you'll have the standard one year warranty and then the CRA 6 year protection. I'd challenge anyone to try and get Very to honour the CRA after the first year. Apple on the other hand (when purchased directly from them) will give you the least hassle free CRA protection for 6 years. Walk in with a fault in the first six years, come out with a new phone, refurbished phone or a guaranteed repair. Sometimes paying extra for this hassle free experience is worth it. I'd never thought I'd ever say this but the 'robbing b*tards at Apple are a joy compared to the other robbing b*tards'.

Hot deal, so heated but my tuppence worth of caution.

to the people querying the 10% back - the code in the main description is different to the offer very are doing see below the 10% back offer which is valid as below

Get 10% back on electricals!
1. Buy any electrical product £249+ and select Buy Now Pay Later at checkout (Electrical and Gaming & DVD departments only).
2. We'll automatically credit 10% of the Electrical product price back to your account by 21st November 2016, and we’ll email you when we have applied the credit to your account.
Buy Now Pay Later allows you to delay payment for up to 6, 9 or 12 months. The payment free period starts when you place your order.

Avoid interest by paying in full within the payment free period. If you don't, interest will be charged. Find out more in checkout.

Delivery charges are payable on your next statement.

If you return your item, the credit will be reversed. This offer can't be used in conjunction with other offers.

Credit back to your account just reduces what you owe....it's the same with any of their offers or codes. Any monies credited to your account just reduce the amount you owe.
For example last month I bought a Pixie with a £20 off code...my account showed full price and then a reduction or credit of £20 so reducing the balance owed.

Sorry that's an incorrect info, apple doesn't give 2 years but only 1 year warranty.

As far as I'm aware The only company in U.K. who gives 2 years warranty on all electronics including apple products is John Lewis without charging extra, No one else gives 2 years unless you pay extra. Those who are complaining about VERY, I've never had any issue with Very but I would still getted from JL rather then any other place as it will come with 2 years warranty.

But bare in mind that if you order from very you won't get it until 1 December 2016.. read the small print.
eslick to notabluff
7 Oct 16 #142
You need to read up on UK consumer law my friend :disappointed:
tpol to notabluff
7 Oct 16 1 #148
All electronic and electrical products in the UK are covered for a minimum of 2 years under EU Consumer Regulations. However, even better is the UK Consumer Rights Act , which gives you 6 years worth of protection for manufacturing defects (in other faults developing that are not due to misuse, negligence or accident). However, Apple are the only company in the UK that implements this fully and without any degree of hassle at all (that is if you purchased from them). The CRA rights are between the seller and the buyer. So if you buy from anywhere other than Apple, you are covered by 1 year standard warranty, possible to argue 2 years under EU rules and have almost always threaten or take to Court get 6 years protection as no retailer (other than Apple) makes this process easy.

Bottom line, please look up the various rules, regulation and Acts of Parliament before making statements that are factually incorrect.
Farhan007 to notabluff

These people are an absolute shambles.. I ordered for launch, they said it was available, the day before launch they told me November, I cancelled the order and then the other day they called me to say they were still trying to ship it etc etc.

Just an absolute shower.. I'm even struggling to get them to delete my account successfully. Customer service is terrible..

I'd rather pay 10% more and not buy from Very.
Shard
7 Oct 16 2 #56
One of the main problems with Very is they have a customer service firewall, when there's a problem (which there often is) the people you speak to on the phone have no power to do anything other than send an email on your behalf, which is ignored.

I bought one item with a discount code, paid for it on time, then they took the code off and charged me interest on the difference. It took me about 5 phone calls just to get them to close my account
ashmac
7 Oct 16 #59
No no you're all getting mixed up

Say you owe 200 for your I phone ,then in November u get say £20 back so you owe 180 or you could pay £180 then wait or them to pay the last £20 with the 10% credit back

Apparently apple do offer a 2nd year lower type of warranty that they don't advertise.

I have also heard many people go into apple with broken phones within and out of their 1 year standard warranty and their reply has been if you bought it from us we could of fixed/replace it.

I think I prefer that reassurance buying direct from apple than having no idea how good the return policy is with Very with iPhones.

Buy from Apple, Go back with a broken screen, pay a little bit of money and come out with a fixed phone or a brand new replacement! Your not going
to get that with other suppliers.

When buying use BUY NOW PAY Later, this gives you 12 months to pay it off, meaning you have until next October to pay it off, in November they will give back the 10% discount to your account, so it takes it off the full amount you owe, it's best to not pay for it yet and wait until they give back the 10% first, which they will, I've never had a problem with Very, hope this clears it up

I ordered the iphone 7 at Very using a £10 off voucher and on the BNPL with a delivery of 5th October. Someone at very then cancelled that order and said they cannot deliver an iphone to a collect + store as it has to be signed for or at least thats the reason they gave for cancelling it but what they also did was re order it for me which then moved the delivery date into the middle of November as i was pushed back in the order que.

Very unprofessional and i called to make a complaint as nobody has the right to sign you up to a credit agreement like that i think its illegal and they credited my account with £15 for my troubles so not all bad.

I then cancelled my order, kept my £15 credit on my account and then re ordered with giff gaff and it arrived 3 days after i ordered with them.

I have to say its not that different to my iphone 6S but it feels faster and the camera is much better and that black colour is so much better than the silver type on the old iphones.

Yes, I continue to use Android. You don't explain or have convinced me why I shouldn't. Rolls Eyes isn't a convincing argument.

You also guessed wrong about having seen Pixel. Are you referring to the £700-£800 pricing? You'll find that I'm very happy with my Moto G4 at a small fraction of the price of Pixel or iPhone 7. If someone can justify why it's "hot" to spend another £500-£600 for a phone then I'd be very interested to see if it's value for money for the additional features being offered.

I stand by my words that I don't understand why people pay 4 to 5 times as much for an Apple product...or a Google Pixel. Happy?

Hate Very. In summary:

Preordered game, to be delivered via Collect+, using Groupon voucher (£20 for £40 voucher)
Day of release, nothing. Chase Very
Two days after release, get an email to say tracking number has changed. Half hour later, they emailed to say parcel being returned as not collected
Ask whats going on. They advise to re-order. Refuse as price has increased and they would not honor original price. Offered to refund
About a week later, refunded £3 to credit card. No sign of £40 voucher. Many emails, then find voucher is "on my account". And can only be used against same item!
Argue more. Finally get them to honor the £40 against anything on website. But, I need to order and then request a refund for the £40

Didn't find anything so ended up preordering Gears of War 4, out next week. Tried to cancel at one point but it is impossible. Haven't heard anything yet. If there is any issue redeeming the £40 I'l go mental.

Bottom line, Very are hopeless.

I went to the Apple Store with a 5 ( the replacement for the original that went belly up) so it was under 1 year old . Was told the warranty only applies to original so out of warranty , told the phone was Knackered , aerial had went , and wanted £200 for replacement . After 3 days of wiping it , resetting it, downloading etc , it worked . Nowt wrong with phone it was a software issue , after putting it on aeroplane mode !! So different rules for different folks apparently .

Looks like it is still on, however when trying to get customer service to confirm it via chat, so I'd have written proof of the offer, they failed to agree that iPhone was included in the promo http://www.very.co.uk/e/promo/electricals-all-credit-to-account.end

Just been on the phone to very customer service I am so happy my order got declined the customer service is very poor. Not a happy customer here, my credit account gave me £600.00 to spend on very website I ordered the iPhone 7 for £699.00 and used the 10% off code which took the price down to £629.10 but the order got declined. I called very for a explanation they said my credit limit is only £600.00 so I can't buy the phone with this account I will have to top up my account with £99.00 which I have to pay today. I said with the code it comes down to £629.10 she said because I have already used the code once I can't use it again and I will have to pay £99.00 and when the phone gets delivered to me on 12th November I have to call back and ask them to give me 10% off my order. I said I am not going to pay a penny close my account I don't want anything to do with very I can't believe they won't be able to manually add the 10% off my order. In November if they don't add the 10% off I'm going to be stuck on full price.

PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE FROM VERY THIS COMPANY SHOULD HAVE NO SALES FROM THE UK - CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A SHAMBLES
I GUARANTEE YOU ALL IN NOVEMBER THEY WILL BE TELLING EVERYONE THAT CREDIT HAS TO APPLIED BY A DIFFERENT DEPARTMENT & THAT THEY HAVE FILLED OUT A CREDIT FORM AND EMAILED THE RELEVANT DEPARTMENT
BUT EACH MONTH YOUR STATEMENT WILL CONTINUE YOU TO SHOW FULL PRICE - IT WILL TAKE MONTHS TO SORT IT OUT
AND EVEN IF YOU WANT TO PAY THE FULL AMOUNT MINUS THE 10% THEY WILL REFUSE AND ASK FOR FULL AMOUNT AND THEN PROMISE TO REFUND YOU - you will all see !

Didn't Very deals get banned from this site awhile back? Not honouring discounts and snatching money from people's accounts. Some of the worst customer service online. Price is attractive but not worth potential hassles.
hobsgrg to daBluone
7 Oct 16 #134
The issue was with vouchers it would specifically exclude use on certain products, however the website would still allow you to make an order using a voucher/discount code that wasn't valid. It was only until some time later when they realised you got a discount it shouldn't have let you have they then retrospectively removed the discount.

FWIW I've used this type of offer before on purchase of MacBook Pro and I got the promised credit back on my account reducing the amount I owed. As it specifically states on the product page you get 10% back there is no issue around getting a discount removed retrospectively on a product that was excluded from the offer

Bought lots of BNPL cash back deals from Very over the years, just this week I had £319 credited to my account for a 20% cash back on macs in August. As I had outstanding BNPL purchases due this month they took the credit of those items. Easy peasy.

Just remember to make a note of when your payment is due, I put it in my iPhone calendar a week before so I know to pay it :-)

I think a lot of people in the thread have mis understood this deal and keep going on about "good luck with the cash back"
And "very are useless when it comes to honouring cash back" and blah blah blah.

This is a very simple deal
Love or hate, iPhone 7 cost £599 from Apple, from banana or from where ever for that matter.

You open a new account, apply to buy now pay later, and that so called 10% "that will never be honoured" automatically applies, so From £599 minus 10%, I'm no good at maths but around £59 odd quid gets taken off.
It's done, no waiting, no hoping, no crying.
10% there.
Don't like apples iPhone, don't click on the thread. Tittle quite clearly states iPhone.

I don't go on android threads coz they are not for me. Good deal or not, android is android, an apple is an apple and a banana is a banana.

NEVER trust Very, I would never deal with them, every order I placed never got delivered, always oos and they keep your details on the system to be used for other purposes. Credit account checks your credit history and what I heard is they will leave a black mark on your credit history even if a single payment is delayed. Even if they sell it for quarter of the price still I would never trust them. There is NO guarantee you will get 10% credited in November. Its not worth the hassle imo. Good luck!

The key difference is that the battery explosion issue is a real thing vs kids that just wanted their five minutes of fame on the internet.

That antenna gate always had me in stitches though. You can literally replicate the issue on any modern device that has those lines running across the back for signal. But the iPhone 5 probably outsold most android devices 100:1 at the time so a far bigger deal was made about it. Then everyone copied.

You literally had to cover the full thing with your hand and wait 10 seconds for the signal to drop. It's as bad as all these whingey little idiots crying about the iPhone 7 "hissing" when it's cpu is processing and they have it pressed against their ear. No fing shat Sherlock.

You have obviously had an argument with them, with regards to where they are based and what they are worth is of no use to me and any purchasing decisions.

If you had any sense and were buying ANY big ticket items - you put them on a credit card so you are fully covered. You will also generally be covered by the long distance selling guidelines. I would however agree - JLP are good due to their longer guarantee periods - but they can also be a faff when in the 2nd/3rd year you can be without the product or a good while. Can you wait 4-5weeks without a phone?

With regards to black marks on your credit file - of course you will get one if you miss a payment... you are entering a credit agreement with them, its exactly the same thing as missing a credit card payment.

Best of luck with Very. I would never buy a bean from them. My nephew purchased an ipad pro last November with the usual pay nothing for 12 months and 10% automatic credit. It was only August he actually had the credit. This is after around 15 - 20 phone calls. They denied they offered it, ipad pro's weren't in the offer, he ordered it too late etc. Luckily, I saved 3 or 4 screen-grabs as I was weary going by the overall feedback for their support etc.
They also cancelled the first order without even telling him. It was only a week later when it hadn't arrived that he phoned and was told his credit was not good enough. He has perfect credit and they did in fairness run a check while he was on the phone and admitted they had no idea why that happened as it was accepted. He then re-ordered it. So, expecting his delivery a week later was also comical. It arrived the end of January.

So, if you take up this offer, I'd advise you keep your eyes on your account for the credit, and ensure you have screen-grabs of the offer and all stages of purchase.

Very Dodgy this Very

i joined yesterday, got a credit limit of £500 .. nowhere it says how to deal with it .. so i go and place an order for iPhone 7 plus 128, i.e. £819 and use the code to make it a discount of 10% and apply .. Expecting to be presented a screen saying, you have £500 credit, here pay the remaining £240 for things to move through. Instead, it declines the order.

Second call to customer service / order line to understand how to do this & am told, i can't buy ANYTHING above £500 because its not within my credit limit. And because the iPhone is above £500 I can't buy it on credit at all and thus the discount can't be applied.

DOGDGY - because i'm a new customer & I'm waiting for a screen to take me to payment page, but you didn't
VERY DOGDGY - because I can't top my ac balance and then purchase. and more so, none of this is written anywhere.

When i sign up first, here's what's written in the Account Agreement that I'm shown to save / print:

iPhone hasn't outsold Android devices for about 8 years.

http://www.theverge.com/2016/6/1/11836816/iphone-vs-android-history-charts

My point was that all manufacturers make mistakes. Anyway going off topic a bit.

It's a good price in terms of Apple but don't think any phone should be more than £400. I just don't get why Apple get away with charging a premium when other devices with a higher spec and better build quality are much cheaper.

I have both the iPhone 6 and the s6 (for work) for work. I think they are both good handsets but don't understand why the Apple is £200 more expensive. I just think they are exploiting their loyal fans by having a ridiculous mark up.
striker33
8 Oct 16 3 #232
Youre comparing platform sales, not device sales.

No single android device has ever come close to the sales of any single apple device. That is why they're always under far more scrutiny.

And no android device beats apple when it comes to build quality. I go through a new phone every month usually whenever a new one is released just to try and find something better.

A lot of android devices have fantastic build MATERIALS, but when it comes to the actual quality of the construction, even things like the s7 range, one plus 3, etc all have their flaws. iPhones are generally seamless aside from the usual that slip through QC (of which a very quick replacement is just a phone call or an hours drive away).

You dont just pay for the phone, you pay for the highly optimised OS, construction, design, and premium components. But mostly the marketing is what you're payin for. His holds true for the ridiculously expensive new Google Pixel phones too.

People can go on and on about specs all they want but the fact is that apple and it's own SoC combined with its own OS has trounced android in the performance department for years. Usually on a dual core chip too (which it still is in the a10).

I'm not hating on android, s7 edge is probably my favourite phone since the Note 2.

Oh and you can throw all the firepower you want into an android phone, but until manufacturers realise that googles stock OS is by far the best option when it comes to speed, cohesion, reliability etc then it'll always be a mess. New touchwoz is decent, but it's still not stock. LGs interface is so huge even on a 5.7 inch v20 that it's worthless from the get go.

But at the end of the day it's all down to preference.

You say you can't understand why anyone would pay over £400 for a phone. If you applied that to I t android phones id agree, as the one plus 3 is the king of value right now. But I've used them all and I still go back to my £400 iPhone 6S Plus. It's not the latest or greatest, but it's faster than every other android device I've used. Only the nexus 6P comes close on nougat but I can't stand that awful screen and slow camera. I keep going back to the iPhone for reliability, but each to their own.

The sad thing is most people are stuck in this stupid mindset of Apple = the devil and fail to give me a real reason as to why they don't like them. Some people just don't like using the phones, which is fair enough, but most respond with "errrrrgh Apple" *twisty face*. Society is pathetic.

I've been using Very for years and ordered thousands worth of stuff, almost always using discount or credit-back codes. Never had a bit of bother. I'm going to get one of these, just going to double check it with live chat first as Apple products are usually excluded.

You're paying the premium for iOS.

Think about it this way, why do you pay £100+ for Windows? To run the only reliable feature rich version of office. (If you're tried office for Mac in a business rnvionent you'll know what I mean!)

I bought a tumble dryer on bnpl interest free with a 10% discount. Delivery got delayed (like the iPhone might) and the first payment became due. I phoned up and said I wasn't making the first payment for something I didn't have and they were like, 'oh ok'. When said dryer came I made first payment that day but was then told I was losing the 10% discount and the interest free as my first payment was late! Unbelievable. You have to be up to all their tricks if you are going to do business with them - play them at their own game.

Still not convinced. I have no idea where the extra £200 goes. The OS on the iPhone is not superior and sometimes frustratingly locked to Apples Ecosystem. The build quality is excellent on both handsets. Performance is not an issue as both handsets are responsive and never experienced any slow down on either.

Like I said I like them both but is one worth an extra £200... absolutely not!

There is " no more" to this story .. The new phone was under 8 months old ..but warranty applies to original and I took it to 2 Apple shops , Newcastle and metro centre and was asked for £200 to replace it as aerial was broken . Was reading no service after putting on aeroplane mode . Spent ages downloading , reinstalling etc and it finally sprung to life . Great non service from Apple .

I think it's expired because the 10% offer is no longer showing (for me at least). IT looks like you can still get 10% off, but only if you use the "Take 3" finance option, which isn't quite as attractive as 12 months BNPL...

For some the 10% off first orders then 25% off purchase price at sister http://www.littlewoods.com is much better value, as a existing Very account holder with no balance it was cheaper for me to go across to L/Woods as a new customer, I got £600 credit limit and paid £30 to my account and my iPhone 6s was dispatched for tomorrow, with 104 weeks interest free credit.

6s 64GB

Very £649.00 - 10% off = £584.10, 12 months interest free credit.

L/Woods £699 - 10% (new customer) = £629.10 - 25% credit = £471.83, 104 weeks interest free credit.

Thats over £100 cheaper with double the time to pay off incurring no interest charges.

So research your iPhone model on both Very & Littlewoods is my HUKD advice

Sales staff assured me it is valid with the 10% new customer offer, I called and made sure.

I calculated 25% off £699 alone before calling, at £524.25 for 6s 64GB - Apple want £499 for 32GB direct, over 64GB is just overkill for me, I still have 8GB on a 16GB iPhone after all my apps. I stream music mainly, use the cloud.

(And 2 years interest free credit along with pay & monthly cleared credit cards boosting my credit file massively for the mortgage app, without sacrificing my one real luxury - high spec mobile  )

Please keep an eye on your Very accounts, I purchased this phone on the BNPL offer and have just logged into my account and seen that it has been included into my take 3 direct debit payment. I rang customer service who couldn't understand why it's been set up as a 3 part payment when she can see it was purchased on the BNPL and I also have an interest charge added to my account ( only £1.07 but I always pay my account off to avoid interest?) she seems to think it will correct itself before the direct debit is due to be taken but I will keep checking. Just wanted to warn others in case it does take try to payments

Update... I rang c/s again and got through to a different advisor who claimed that I did not purchase the phone on a BNPL, even though the lady earlier could see that I had, he's now added it to the BNPL and says that I will still qualify for the 10% cash back offer. When I queried the £1.07 interest charge he said it was a service charge for a return I'd made! I said, well it says all returns are free on the website and he said .... no no no returns are not free?!
Never had a problem with Very before! Hoping I get the 10% credit to my account

Poor show from Very, no email, no apology for the delay, no information at all!! If I hadn't logged into my account and checked I wouldn't have known anything, even Customer Services knew nothing.
At least I will see if they honour the 10% cash back on my account before the phone arrives.

hello everyone. Thanks op for posting. I can confirm I just had email from very that 10% refund has been credited to my account. Got the iphone 7 plus 128gb. Hope this helps.

Email contents:
Your Very account has now been credited with £81.9 following your purchase of:

IPHONE 7 PLUS 128GB SILVER.

To see your credit log into 'My Account' and it's shown on your statement within the 'Payments Applied' section. Please note this credit doesn't replace the need to make at least your minimum payment as detailed on your statement.

In 'My Account' you may also be able to protect your purchase if you haven't done so already.

Thanks for shopping at Very.

I have been informed by Very that I did not purchase this item on "buy now pay later" and therefore will not get the 10% discount. I actually had to set up a credit agreement with them before buying the phone and then had to wait for my first statement before I could pay anything off my account. If that's not buy now pay later then I am flummoxed.
