How do we know the price is back up to £90? Isn't this the point we ask for proof to backup the claim the price is back up? Until I see it for myself Id take that info with a pinch of salt. And id assume this is Tesco trying to shift stock for the next range of Lego sets.
Tesco are ruthless in pulling miss prices from shelves. These wouldn't scan at the till if they knew it was a glitch.

I had the photos of the two receipts from this thread plus a photo of an Argos receipt. They didn't realise (as did I) that the price had gone back up. Luckily there was a branch in Northern Ireland showing low stock, in the end thats what swung it as they were playing the 'must be local' card.

Tesco stores and Tesco direct online are two conpletely differently different businesses and operate two different price strategies. If you order online the store has nothing to do with it except to act as pick up location. The store would not be able to reduce the Direct proce for that reason

You could try using that receipt kindly posted earlier and chance your arm using the terms that I posted earlier in the thread as what you were told about price matching the nearest Tesco etc is a load of rubbish.Although the same day terms might be a problem.
What you need to know
If you find a lower price at a competitor on the same day that you purchased from Argos we will match it. This can be either their UK or ROI' website, retail shop or telephone orders.
All you need is your original Argos receipt and be able to show us within 14 days of your purchase that the product was available cheaper to take home or have delivered on the same day that you bought the item from us. We will refund the difference once we have confirmed the details.
If the competitor's product is available for delivery the same day, their delivery charge will be counted as part of the price paid.
The competitor's product must be identical to ours, brand new, offered on the same terms and be in stock or available for delivery on the same day.
If the competitor is in administration or closing down, our Price Promise will not apply.

I spoke to Argos customer services yesterday, and the chap I spoke to assured me they would price match and told the store to call them if there was a problem. Reserved one in store, went to collect it, explained it to them and they refused. Asked them to call customer services and they refused as well.
I appreciate it was a long shot, but I'm a bit annoyed of the total lack of communication between the stores and customer services. Felt like a total plonker in store and wasted a trip.

Its there policy regardless of wether the managers like it or not it is being advertised in there catalogues and posters and everything else if its not stuck to then they are breaking the law! Yes from a stores point of view i certainly wouldnt if i was making a loss but all they have to do is tweek t&c's and it might not be so bad for argos but at the min they dont have a leg to stand on

If it was another retailer I might agree, but Argos do make up the rules as they go. We all know we're taking advantage of the price promise, but that will happen to any retailer who chooses to adhere to one at some point.
Argos need to get their act together and ensure that all their stores act in the same manner. How difficult is it to send a group email to all stores saying 'Do/Do not price match Tesco Lego Star Wars for the following reason'? Instead they get some managers allowing it and others giving varying reasons as to why they wont.

I was polite and dignified with my request, whereas the person in question was rude to me and sneered. Others have been able to get the item from Argos at this price so my situation was no different than theirs. I accepted her decision and didn't cause a fuss. This is a probably national instore price drop by Tesco to clear the item because its old stock, the new Star Wars film is due for release and the new sets have been released. This is HUKD. This is why we're all here. These things happen all the time. I think YOU need to get a grip.

Shops make mistakes and their sole purpose is to make money. To sell possibly thousands of these at £30 will lose them a lot of money. I think it's some hukd members being a bit greedy and unreasonable rather than horrible/snooty managers.

Local beckton argos would not price match without proof tesco had stock and it was £30. I tried my luck at beckton gallons reach tesco and staff member told me it's a glitch and because of this all stock has been taken off the shelves. They do have he set in the back but aren't allowed to sell until the glitch is fixed

For what it's worth, I've just been off the phone with Amazon (Boo!! Hiss!! etc) and asked if they would price match. They flatly refused, but then asked how much I would be willing to pay. I offered £40 and they refused again, but they may have bitten at a higher price. Maybe worth a shot? Probably on a case-by-case basis.

Retail computer systems don't tend to have live update systems. Instead they do over night updates. This tends to mean that prices change between 3-5am. Also any hand held units in satire then need updated manually. So stock removal is by far the easiest thing to be done.

It depends on their system. Most stores prices come through head office and stores can only locally change prices on local products and end of life stock, like your items going out of date.
Its quite normal if a big glitch comes through and the store finds out, they will put the stock through the back.

So, went to Sandhurst store last night, many others had been there before me. The stock checker said they had stock, when the nice chap stocking the shelves told me. He also told me that they have 'been taken off the shelf', not for sale.
So, I'm thinking it is all a bit of a con just to get people into the stores. If it was a real glitch, surely they just have to adjust the price back up on the computer which would take seconds, rather than just pull all the stock.

Don't trust the Tesco Direct Stock Checker - it alluded (still does!) that there was stock available, but there was none in the store. Asked a couple of members of staff, and both said that they don't usually sell Lego sets of that high value. Suggested that the stock showing as available, might have been held for other Customers at the Tesco Direct desk for collect in store orders that were waiting collection.

First time posting - Tesco Gallions Reach - they are selling the Lego Millenium Falcon for £30. This may be national.
Check your local store and scan at self service.

It is now at the same price instore aswell as direct £90.19 its purpose was for the top xmas toy sellers event coming up thats the only reason it came back in store and it was still at the previous price since it was last instore in feb but it stayed at £30 for 3 days and now its gone up it. Better luck next time folks i've got 9 in total, 2 to keep and the other 7 i dont know

Tesco are ruthless in pulling miss prices from shelves. These wouldn't scan at the till if they knew it was a glitch.

What you need to know
If you find a lower price at a competitor on the same day that you purchased from Argos we will match it. This can be either their UK or ROI' website, retail shop or telephone orders.
All you need is your original Argos receipt and be able to show us within 14 days of your purchase that the product was available cheaper to take home or have delivered on the same day that you bought the item from us. We will refund the difference once we have confirmed the details.
If the competitor's product is available for delivery the same day, their delivery charge will be counted as part of the price paid.
The competitor's product must be identical to ours, brand new, offered on the same terms and be in stock or available for delivery on the same day.
If the competitor is in administration or closing down, our Price Promise will not apply.
Products sold as part of a multi-buy promotion, for example 3 for 2 or 2 for £15, will be matched to the cheapest price of each item when sold individually.
We will not match prices available via voucher codes.
I appreciate it was a long shot, but I'm a bit annoyed of the total lack of communication between the stores and customer services. Felt like a total plonker in store and wasted a trip.

Argos need to get their act together and ensure that all their stores act in the same manner. How difficult is it to send a group email to all stores saying 'Do/Do not price match Tesco Lego Star Wars for the following reason'? Instead they get some managers allowing it and others giving varying reasons as to why they wont.
All these people who have been refused price promise and told it had to be available "locally" for one. If you look at the Argos t&cs for the price promise it does not mention anything about it being available "locally"

Tesco in Batley, Bradford and Leeds are all out of stock.

It's really important to us
To make sure the price you see is the price you pay at the checkout, we have colleagues who check our shelf edge labels are correct. If we make a mistake or get it wrong and you are overcharged, we'll give you a refund for the difference and a £2 gift card to say we're sorry.
They always take ages to sort it out too!
Yesterday I went and took a photo of the label in the hope it might speed things up but they don't seem to trust
Its quite normal if a big glitch comes through and the store finds out, they will put the stock through the back.
So, I'm thinking it is all a bit of a con just to get people into the stores. If it was a real glitch, surely they just have to adjust the price back up on the computer which would take seconds, rather than just pull all the stock.
Your judgement is so far wide of the mark that i doubt you even know your own name!
however.. the person said it with a grin lol. I know what happens next.. same with the discounted hard drives.
I'm sure if your shopping was displayed as £1 and scanned as £1.50, you would be shouting at their customer services desk for 50p.
staff quite aggressively said they didn't have any after apparently many people asking for the same thing :P
EDIT: Interestingly I've just checked the stock checker again, it's changed from 'In Stock' to 'Low Stock' hmm...
