I visited Ikea yesterday and was just about to spend an enormous amount of money when the cashier handed me a voucher and told me to take it to a terminal where I scanned my ikea card then the voucher she gave be. I ticket was then printed which I took back to the till to get £20 of my purchase.

Its £15 off £100 at Warrington, but its only valid from 31/10-11/11 (as far as I recall). There were little stacks of paper vouchers to fill in at the tills and customer services.

it depends on the total weight, number of items, etc. If you're interested in getting the whole kitchen delivered, then you would be looking at, say, 500 kg (again, so much depends on the size). There are tons of transport companies out there who would be just happy to get it all delivered over here. We use 7 different smallish companies we trust and these guys are always on time and within budgets. Another aspect to consider is that you would have to pay extra to delivery companies to go physically to the store and buy the items on your behalf from the list. They charge little extra for that, but it's all well worth it. For small individual items, though, even DHL / UPS will do. As you can expect, returning any items might be a challenge, but if you know what you're doing it's worth the hassle.

Yeap, we update all world currencies on a daily basis, so the FX isn't the issue. When number crunching (hence the name of our widget) you can see that price differentials are down to the fact of sales in certain countries, FX variations, even wars(!) Look up Stradivarius clothing in countries like Syria - they are selling £70 jacket for a fiver there, presumably they are desperate to rid of the stock there. Again, as our analysis shows IKEA is not alone and every big brand is doing this. There are tons of examples like this.

Interesting, surprised the discount is that huge when buying in Eastern Europe. Is that with current exchange rates as well?

I have seen some astounding discounts on Ikea goods in Europe compared to UK (pre exchange rate change), however Kitchens in my experience were always quite a chunk more in France.

Astounding to say the least! They are charging an arm and a leg in France, definitely no less than in the UK. Although did you know that France has the cheapest kitchen appliances in the entire Europe? For kitchen cabinets though you must look further afield. Depending on the kitchen style (its size / shape / front doors / appliances / etc) the total price of your kitchen would probably be 60% dependent on the type of your front doors you go for. Say for example you like modern crisp white gloss doors - there is a range for that at IKEA, it's called Ringhult white (ever wondered why it shows up first item when navigating to kitchen doors category? http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/kitchen-products/cabinet-doors-fronts-panels/) So the standard 80x60 cm door costs £43 in the UK. Now, why not to compare the price for this same door in Europe? It works out £19.89 in Eastern Europe. Now, how much would it cost you to get the whole kitchen delivered from there? In the region of £700 (depending on the size, weight, no of items). There are massive discounts to be had. Some IKEA items are 25% of the price you pay in the UK. Look-up, for instance, Pen cup DOKUMENT - it's like £3.5 in the UK vs £0.88 in Germany! Again, you might be interested in reading Barry's story - he had his 30% discount on IKEA kitchen which saved him handsomely £1500.

Yes, I got the 20 off a 100 spend in Southampton the other day, although I was only spending a few quid so couldn't use it.
I didn't need to get a voucher from the cashier though. I always scan my ikea card as soon as I get in the store and it printed the voucher.
'Won' a doughnut after my purchase too :stuck_out_tongue:

you should check if you get a good deal at IKEA when buying in the UK. With all due respect, there is always an option of sourcing IKEA from somewhere else and pay 2/3 of the UK price.

While spending £200 at IKEA have you had product codes left? We would gladly cross-compare the prices for you to see if that amount could have been more like £150 in the end?

Could you kindly post IKEA product codes so that we can compare what you could have paid in Europe? There are massive price differences on some of IKEA items. We know your starting point was £1400, it's interesting to see if that could have brought down to more like £1000 including delivery?

AFAIK, IKEA offers local deals on very specific items in very specific locations. Therefore it's very unlikely that they would honour anything. You may give it a go anyway and post an update on here. Or better still, why not to ask openly IKEA UK on Twitter and see what their response would be? TBH, if I was you I would not bother driving around 30 miles for the sake of saving £10. However, it makes total sense when it comes to huge price differentials. You should read how Barry from East London managed to save himself a whopping £1500 by sourcing IKEA from Europe!

nowadays IKEA actually has offers individually for each store. Therefore the same item can cost you 100 quid in one store and say £70 in another store. If you're in London you check out Croydon store as it always has better deals compared to Wembley, Lakeside or Tottenham.
GDB2222 to contactcruncher
24 Oct 16#19
What do you do then? So, if the item is £10 cheaper in Croydon, will the Wembley store honour that deal? Driving from Wembley to Croydon and back is a major undertaking.
