Xiaomi would be better. But it depends if you want to take the risk with warranty / software which can be a bit rubbish even on Global ROMS.

I have checked it and found that it is the 3GB one that we have.

snapdragon 650 beats kirin 650 easily in multi tasking and gaming, and the note3 runs android 6.0.1 on the latest miui 8 global rom. It also has an official cm14 rom that can be used as a daily driver (nougat)

which is better this phone or the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 3Gb version at £175 which has the Helio X20 CPU.

Tip for new buyers, the Toshiba Exceria M302 64GB SDXC U3 speed cards work very well with this phone. I have been using 1 in mine with no problems at all.

I'll go and check my nearest store tomorrow, if they price match and its 3gb ill buy it

Great phone. Got mine when it was discounted on Vodafone PAYG and still pleased with it. Great smartphone and spec with a good battery life.

Remember VNS-L31 is 3GB version, VNS-L21 is 2GB version, the box will have the model number on it.

I will pop over my local EE shop tomorrow to confirm 3GB and "price-match" online offer as it seems that Quidco isn't tracking and not 100% whether online version is 2GB or 3GB

Presley on web chat also confirmed that the online offer is 2gb and that store stock could be different. If it was 3gb, I'd have this for my daughter but at 2gb I'll get the moto G4 plus with better camera and gyroscope. (No NFC though)

That's good to hear. However, i have just got off live chat with EE and they say because daughters current sim is LIFE, the Huawei EE will automatically accept the LIFE sim (LIFE is part of EE).

I hope so, i don't want to be messing about over Xmas waiting 9 days to be able to unlock!

I've applied for a SIM unlock and only got the device today, FYI

possible the instore models are 3gb, so if you can get them to price match web price you'll be quids in.

The LIFE SIM should work without unlocking, as LIFE use the EE network.

I got it today and it is 3GB RAM & I got it in store, asked an employe and showed the web price and he said he'll do it for that price.

Huawei P9 lite is 3GB model

3GB RAM, says it on the side of the box & used an info app and it said 3GB RAM. The SIM slot seems to have two places for SIMS - put the EE sim in SIM slot 1 area and worked fine. Took out and put in SIM slot 2 but didn't recognise it.

I have asked about 5 different people on ee chat and they have all said it is the 2gb model and web deal only

Got excited as initially thought this was just the P9. This wouldnt be much of an upgrade over my P8.

I must say as an Apple user for 3 years i switched to the P8 from the 5S and i have never looked back. These phones are incredible value and can do much more on Android than IOS (for me anyway)

Unless you are a brand snob or a follow the trend sheep, seriously try one of these phones. You wont be disappointed.

Just been in the EE shop at Aintree, they have it showing as £129.99 plus £10 top up.

I am looking at this phone as a Xmas gift for my daughter. Soooooooo, she currently has a moto with Life sim, if i get this P9, do i simply add the EE sim, wait 9 days, get an unlock and on Xmas day she can put her Life sim into it and it will work?

I have had the P9 Lite for a couple of months now bought from CPW sim free, it is a great phone.
The nougat ROM is currently in Beta and the bods over at XDA forum have got been trying to load it.
Mine was a VNS-L31 single sim, but I converted it to dual sim using the guide on XDA P9 lite forum.
The phones are built as DUAL SIM by default, but the software switches off the second sim card depending on location and markets. Follow the guide here :- Your text here

The camera is a Sony censor, it is pretty decent but the JPEG processing engine is a bit severe, installing Open Camera enables Camera 2.0 settings and enables you to save RAW files if you are into photo post post processing.

For the price it is a lot bang for buck.

I got one a few hours ago from the EE shop. In store price was £230 but I showed them the price on the website and they let me have it for £130 +10 top up. Any questions i'm happy to help! Great phone so far

I would think it's unlikely it's dual sim if you buy it direct from EE. The mobile networks want you to only use their sim, not theirs and someone else's.

For what it is worth I have seen this model in the Northwich EE shop in the city centre earlier on today as I wanted to have a hands on. The phone was marked at the shop as £129 plus minimum £10 top up in PAYG, so there should be no problem getting it from the shop at that price.

Someone said earlier in this thread the phone has only one SIM. Are we sure of it, I was hoping it was a dual SIM as I would like this for my next phone. Can anyone who has the phone confirm ? Cheers.

I need to replace my sony xperia ultra 6.5cm screen. This mobile would seem ideal but the screen size is small. Does anyone know if there are any mobile phones with a screen size of 6.5cm + . Would be happy with an even bigger screen. My research on google has produced nothing but tablets - and this won't work as I need it to work as a phone. Sorry - I know this is off topic - and I do like the look of this phone and would buy but for the screen size.

Just went into the EE store in Westfield, it seems that you have to order online to get the 139.99 price. If you order online and collect instore you get the 139 price. Otherwise you are paying 229.

I use NFC all the time, in conjunction with some cheap on NFC tags and Tasker. Leave home swiping a tag to switch wifi off, one tag in the car to switch Bluetooth on and connect on entry, switch Bluetooth off on leaving, a tag on the washing machine for a 1h timer so I don't forget to put the clothes in the dryer, a tag on the headboard to set the alarm for the morning etc etc. Android Pay and Oyster are the icing on the case. NFC has limitless possibilities but of course, you don't NEED it.

Web chatted to "Sean" - confirmed 3GB to me.

After successfully completing an order for this phone earlier in the day, EE customer support are telling me the device is out of stock (contrary to their site status). Apparently additional stock of this item is due in Monday or Tuesday.

I'm assuming no-one else has had problems ordering?

NFC is the kind of thing you don't realise you need until you actually get it. If I ever leave my wallet at home by accident I can still pay for things with Android Pay (which you need NFC for). It's handy as it gives you a notification every time you make a transaction so you can easily see how much you've spent in a day.

You're not going to get 'world class' for £140! I'm in the same boat as you, my G3 has given up.

I looked at a few Chinese phones for the same price - came down to Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 & Gigaset ME.

Specs are a little bit lower on this, but decided it's worth the trade off for quick delivery, warranty/manufacturer support, and availability of custom roms.

The Mi Mix you mentioned will be about £400 won't it? If your budget is more than mine have a look at Lenovo ZUK Z2.

This is an amazing deal.

I paid £150 for my honor 5c which is very similar other than having only 2gb ram and the build quality being a little worse, as this is essentially just a better version I can only imagine this is even better.

I'll list my main points about the Honor 5c :

Fast even when multitasking
Battery life is amazing lasts me 1-2 days even with watching videos for a 2-5 hours
Cameras are good
Screen is decent the sharpness is good but it suffers in dark scenes even with lowered brightness

I was going to ask the same question. No mention of the amount of RAM AFAICS? I believe the 'base' version of the P9 Lite comes with 2GB RAM as standard?

Also, does the free unlock definitely work if you call them? How does it work? Put the EE sim in, call them and request unlock, then switch the sims over?

Unless you want to listen to the radio and don't have a 3g/4g signal. Or you want to listen to something that isn't available online (for example most football commentaries on local radio).


Not having FM radio wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but it would mean there would be occasions when I'd have to take a separate radio out with me.

Ordered, perfect for my wife who has a Doogee x5 Pro from a deal on here, but it's slow, unreliable and the usb connection is very dodgy now for charging :disappointed:

​i have a Vodafone su 6 this p9 lite is definitely better the su6 is basically fit for nothing now ,had it about 15 months it crashes my Bluetooth headset all the time and the touchscreen keeps closing apps every couple of seconds it's just no good anymore ,it was very good for about a year but as these are common faults with it you'd be better of with the p9 lite in my opinion

from what I've seen, p9 lite battery is 3000 vs 4000 approx on the redmi note 3. The UI are also different, but redmi has android lollipop vs marshmallow on p9.

Fantastic phone, great price. Got one a few months back when Vodafone had them for £150, could not be happier with it. Had an update yesterday which added slow motion videos, will have to have a play with that soon.

How easy to unlock?
Most networks are a carry in say they will unlock for free up usually require top ups and active sim for at least a few months or if o2 a year!
