Bought this for my fiance recently. Decent specs for the price but be warned that the display is absolutely rubbish - terrible viewing angles and colors. One of the worst displays I have ever seen.
Also the trackpad buttons are hard to press and are not very responsive. The entire laptop is definitely cheaply manufactured, as reflected in the price.
Was very disappointed with the display more than anything else but otherwise works great as an office / work laptop.

I just received this deal in the post. What a despicable company ebuyer is. Sent a machine with no DVDRW. They have changed the description online and even on my invoice to NO-DVD. Luckily I had the emails stating DVDRW included. Hoping I wouldn't notice and knowing their own mistake, they sent it anyway, while also blatantly covering it up. Refund applied for and I will be staying well clear of them in the future.
Hotony
21 Oct 16#85
I'm sure the original Ebuyer page stated 'Resolution: 1920 x 1080' as I was specifically looking for this. Now it's changed on the website (probably the same time it went back up in price). Didn't get a screenshot though.
How are people returning this if they choose - Looks to cost a small fortune to send back to their Returns Dept PO Box?

Funny thing is I researched this in multiple shops and everywhere it states 1920x1080p resolution, not just that is HD. HD had me fooled a few times when I realised 1080p is actually FHD.

HP's business laptops have always seemingly been hampered by appalling displays with no colour saturation, poor gamut and zero viewing angles (using one now, you have to tilt the panel depending on whether you're looking at the bottom or the top ..). The consumer gear is better in that respect, but they spend the money on sound and screens instead of build quality..
Second comment on the display - 16:9 is a complete pain in the ass for a working computer. Nowhere near enough vertical pixels. You want to have at least 1200 pixels vertical.

People like the deal because it has FHD, i5 6200u and SSD altogether, and not for a lot more money.
I do not expect the FHD screen to be any good as it is TN and likely to be a very low end TN.
But if the screen is as bad as someone reported above, once you take the FHD screen out of the picture, the deal is not very good.
huangxq2
16 Oct 161#42
It is quiet easy once you have done it once.
I claimed on 3 laptops personally, and 3 times for my employer as we use probook at work.
It takes around 3 months to receive the cashback from the day HP receive your device.
At around one month, HP will email you confirm if the device you sent is ok and confirming amount of cashback payable in 2 months.
I have used all my old devices. Now I just buy the cheapest 9 inch tablet for cashback.
huangxq2
16 Oct 161#41
This is a much better deal, probook with FHD. Rarely see any probook comes with FHD.
You do not need an old laptop. Just simply buy the cheapest 9 inch tablet from amazon for £25 and send to HP for cashback. I just done that and received cashback last month.

Ouch! If Doom was solely responsible for the upgrade you wasted your money, good sir. As a DOS (protected mode) game it only required up to 640KB of the 1MB needed. Windows 3.1 on the other hand was a bit of a slug on anything less than 4MB.

Indeed but people have rather unrealistic expectations, £400 for a laptop with these specs is pretty darned cheap it's just that there's so much really cheap crud out there (very basic Windows laptops from £150 ish) that people think something for £400 should be top of the line.
IWannaBeAdored to dibbz

What? £400 can get you a lot of laptop for your money. Either wait for a stonker of a deal or check Dell outlet regularly or other reputable sites/reputatable Ebay sellers.

A bit contradictory that, for Windows 7 Pro downgrade rights the licence has to be a Windows 10 Pro. Any downgrade licence has always been an Pro version of Windows not the home version.
If it is supplied with Win10 media then you'd expect it to have a licence for Win10.......but I can't say for sure it would just work and whether there'd be any product activation issue when installing Win10. For the time being everyone can still use the 'assistive technologies' upgrade from to Win10 which works without issue.
