Be totally immersed in TV, with the 3D, 4K, 58 inch Hisense LTDN58K700xwtseu

Fabulous 4K on the big screen
The bigger the screen the greater the difference 4K makes, so on this 58" stunner, it's a big difference! With four times the resolution of Full 1080p HD, 4K (UHD) TV offers stunning detail and resolution for totally life-like realism. Even without a native 4K UHD signal, UHD upscaling means that you can scale up an ordinary HD signal to make the best of the screen. Get Netflix 4K or other 4K content and the image just keeps getting better.

Hisense 3D for a thrilling experience
Once you've experienced 3D TV, ordinary TV just never seems quite the same. Images appear to occupy the space behind the screen as well as 'reaching out' into the room. For a totally immersive TV experience, 3D still takes some beating. One pair of 3D glasses is included to get you started.

Powerful processing
Packing a Quad Core processor, the Hisense is a powerful performer with Smart content, too. Connect up to your home network by Ethernet or Wi-Fi and enjoy access to a wide range of apps including favourites such as Netflix, YouTube and Twitter. A built-in web browser and DLNA compatibility lets you browse and stream to your heart's content.

Socket to 'em
Four HDMI sockets means this TV is every bit as well connected as the big-name TVs. Two of these sockets are the latest HDMI 2.0 version and the Hisense is also compatible with HEVC, meaning that it can stream Netflix 4K with ease. Other connections include no fewer than three USB sockets, one of which is the latest USB 3.0 version for a high speed link. Throw in an optical connection for a soundbar/base and you've got everything you need in a 4K TV.

Fantastic Freeview HD
It might be some way behind 4K, but Freeview HD is still a huge step-up on regular Freeview TV. If you're not using Sky, Virgin, BT or another digital TV provider, Freeview HD is the way to go for free-to-access digital TV through your existing aerial. Compared to standard Freeview, images are far more detailed, with rich colour and enhanced realism.

PVR USB
One of the USB sockets lets you connect up a USB memory stick to use as a PVR. PVR stands for Personal Video Recorder and lets you record TV programmes via the set's Electronic Programme Guide. It can also pause live TV - just like a subscription based set-top box.

Enjoy the bigger picture, with this Hisense beauty.

Really..?? How much broadcast 4k is there around? Actually how much broadcast 1080p even is there around?....nope not much.

More like you are at the station waiting for a train that's not going to arrive for 2-3 more years.

At the moment a 4k TV with a good quality upscaler fpr SD and HD is more important than HDR if you want to watch Broadcast material but as usual everyone is obsessed by the specs rather than the picture quality...

very impressed with it overall.

4k picture quality through BT is outstanding, and general HD upscaling is also very impressive.

surprisingly good sound, havent bothered to install my soundbar as yet as its so good.

overall very impressed with it.

only negatives are the menus feel a bit clunky, and the internet can drop through wi-fi every now and again.

I seem to remember that some TVs (early plasmas or LEDs) had to be left on for a certain amount of hours in order to bed them in.
Does that kind of thing apply to TVs these days? Or can you just plug them in, and start watching stuff?

I have to agree with that on the other hand I am in the same position as some of you others in ukhd land I would like to upgrade my tv . I have a Panasonic plasma at the mo but shops are saying to feature proof your tv you need 4k,i have no 4k input at the mo and I have no intension to pay the over the odds for it any way. RS did say awhile back that there is a sony 1080p tv that would blow the socks off a lot of 4k tvs what do you think

HDR isn't about millions or billions in anything other than technical specifications which will be much more appropriate when applied to OLED screens in the years to come, our utopia!

HDR is much more about light and dark, the darkest blacks possible with local dimming, the brightest whites that LED can provide and the millions of gradients in between.

The aim is to perfectly replicate everything the human eye can see, contrast and not only colour. Don't assume that you can see everyone of the colours SDR supports, nor that your eye can't see any of the additional shades HDR supports.

HDR is fundamental to the best 4K picture possible, clearly you've decided you don't need that fidelity, no right or wrong but personally I'm waiting.

I got one of these last week. It's great. Watched some 4K content and it's superb. Gaming is fine too, the TV has an ARC HDMI socket, so I send that to my sound bar/wireless surround system. Also, it had BOTH freesat ant freeview built in.
markcraddock
12 Oct 16 1 #79
Ah I see. Is this because it's an 8 bit rather than 10 bit panel? Playing in HDR demo's allows the HDR option to be selected. Perhaps they should say "HDR Compatible"? Mind you, how does a human eye distinguish 10 bit colour - that's over 1 billion?. Even 8 bit gives 16 million - still way above what a human eye can see. Marketing eh!. That aside, I'm blown away with the quality of the picture. For the price and 6 year warranty it doesn't seem to be a bad deal.
kaiser051
12 Oct 16 #78
Yep 8 bit panels can accept a HDR signal but cant process it so they downscale it to SDR
kaiser051

hcc27
12 Oct 16 #75
Not really. Hisense and Foxconn are separate companies. Foxconn allowed Hisense to use the Sharp brand name for their TVs sold in the US under a 5 year licencing agreement, that's all.:

Hisense is owned by Foxcon (manufacturer of iPhones)
I think they also purchased Sharp's TV/Panel division if I am not mistaken.

Issue with this set according to Avforum's is on the latest unofficial firmware 818 PVR functionality is broken.
This version 818 is still a beta.
There has been no official firmware release since March time , look at their website for a download.
Final firmware has been promised since June still not public.

I always thought the same...my Panasonic VT Plasma was stunning..then it broke about a year ago. Replaced with a Samsung 55JU6400 and haven't found a single area where it's not beaten my old Plasma (ok maybe Blacks not quite as Ink black) No regrets even though it's not a 10 bit HDR panel...(personally I find HDR on most sets I've seen a bit like the over saturated dynamic mode electrical stores like to demo TV's in)
I find non HDR 4k more cinema like so it suits me
montana78
11 Oct 16 1 #46
Bush has been around for years. Dont mean its a good brand. Lol
Youre right. They dont have any hisense tvs on demo so you compare them. They say you can buy and refund if you dont like... but with a tv that big its a lot of effort
The_Hoff
11 Oct 16 1 #45
Yeah, you definitely wouldn't find Hisense advertising 8-bit panels as 10-bit, nope, nothing to see here! Or that their TV's support HDR, but actually means they can take the HDR input and output an emulated (processed, thus junk) dithered image.

You won't find a 5* review from a certain well known samsung/sony supported site, but to all balanced review sites hisense are up there. Not quite as good as LG's, Sony's or Samsungs best, but VFM for under £1k most of their sets are unbeatable. They'll also release UHD premium sets in future, unlike Sony who just want to confuse customers even more with their own standards.

Trains won't be showing 4k for years; also the 4k/UHD feeds train is too expensive for many people and can't say where its going for sure right now.

Many people have no 4k or UHD feeds so not having 4k/UHD is a non issue; wait for standards to become actual standards over the next 18 months before buying specifically for 4k/UHD.

Probably the largest white goods and appliances manufacturer in China. Revenues over USD4bn last year. Summary of financials here:

http://markets.ft.com/data/equities/tearsheet/profile?s=600060:SHH

In terms of picture quality this TV is probably one notch below top end Samsung or LCD TVs but boy are you getting a lot for less than half the price, at £600 quid and with a 6 year guarantee thrown in from the likes of Richer Sounds.

Heat from me. A great TV for the price. Only minor niggle is RS have a habit of not stocking these huge TVs online so you have to ring around stores and in this case probably hire a van unless you've got a mutha of a motor to carry it in.
