Code 4K10

Great specs on this TV and now the HDR update is available.

The HDR is fake and doesn't even do anything but add a yellow tint to the screen. I actually think standard looks better.

Advertising it an HDR TV is just misleading and will leave anything buying it for HDR disappointed.

You cant knock the Hisense value for money but at this point in the year (close to black Friday etc) I would wait for something like an LG, Samsung, Panasonic coming down in price. I've owned a 65k5510 for six weeks, while the PQ is breathtakingly good - way better than a 2014 £3k Samsung H8000 series TV my Hisense has multiple issues that spoil my enjoyment. Poor build quality, panel issues, speaker hissing and a pungent plastic smell that's never gone away. One of the holes in one of the feet wasn't even tapped either. They're good, but there's no comparison when compared with even a budget model Samsung or LG for build quality.

I used the TV as an entry into 4K at minimal cost, whilst the other possibly better quality sets come down in price and the mess that is the HDR standard is sorted.

I planned to get a couple of years out of this and then spend bigger. But for now this set is great, absolutely no issues and if it stays that way I probably won't need to get a 'better' tv anytime soon.

Bought the recently Hotukdeals deal 55"4k model (with the Amazon app and two year warranty) and we're delighted with it. Only problem is when it loses sound when using our Humax 1100 free-sat box. It then needs adjusting using the two remotes. This is probably a Humax problem rather than the tv though. Would a sound bar even it out? Any suggestions welcome

Hey ,

Any improvements since doing the upgrade ?

Have you played any HDR content,

What about any additional apps, or improvements to menu?

I have the same tv, very impressed so far and everything working with no problems for the past few months.

Don't want to update it and break it.

Would be grateful for your feedback
bandit17 to Zakcee
24 Oct 16 #15
Hi, I've not noticed any changes in the menu or additional apps, the only change is that it turns HDR automatically when you play content that supports it like Forza Horizon 3 or for instance, I watched The Creed UHD Blu-ray on Friday, HDR was enabled too.

Though to be honest, I can't say I'm impressed by the improvement, it's noticeable but very subtle and not much of an improvement to me. That's just my opinion, others may have a different experience.

If you want to use this for gaming, don't buy this. The input lag makes all games that require precision absolutely unplayable. So all shooters/driving/sports games basically.

I owned the same model and returned it because it was impossible to play my Xbox One S
Zakcee to frankieMRT
24 Oct 16 1 #24
It's perfect for gaming on the PS4z
gazman090970
24 Oct 16 #22
No but in bang for buck terms it's very good if not as good as it gets input lag is good for gaming and bearing in mind true hdr is gonna cost £1200 and upwards the Philips is good value.
WeCanFly
24 Oct 16 #23
I use mine as a PC monitor, and received the HDR update and there is definitely a noticeable difference, but not the amount I was expecting, and not enough to be impressive to be honest, also after this update I'm getting a bunch of flashing pixels all over the screen, seems like its from my computer end though because it doesn't do it in the menu or homepage of the TV, but i think it's only happened after this update

Mediocre HDR aside this TV is definitely worth the price, the 4K is brilliant, great colors and a lot of settings to mess with, at the time when I ordered it was £329, so it might go down to that price again, but I think they realized how much demand there was and decided to jack the price up

It's not brilliant for PC gaming, but it's what I was expecting for the price, it's better than a lot of tvs that cost even more, there is a PC mode which greatly increases the response time to almost instant, but also greatly reduces the colors/contrast ratio
frankieMRT to WeCanFly
24 Oct 16 2 #26
I would seriously debate your definition of 'almost instant'. If I was to guess the amount of input lag, it would be around 70ms in Game mode, with it reaching triple digits in regular modes.

How anyone can handle that amount of lag is beyond me - you must suck at your shooters when playing against people with 1ms gaming monitors (like me..)

Serious gamers should avoid this TV. It's fine for playing casual sofa games like Peggle but any real game and you'll get frustrated immediately.
frankieMRT
24 Oct 16 #25
What games are you playing? Because I tried playing Battlefield/Cod/Forza/Fifa/NHL and a few others and there was such a distinct difference in the time between moving an analogue stick and what was actually reflected in game. This was in Game mode with all other post processing turned off.

More casual and inexperienced gamers might not notice a difference (which I find completely alien) but any serious gamer should 100% avoid this TV. I got a Samsung KU6400 and it's perfect and was only £100 more.
WeCanFly
24 Oct 16 1 #27
It's close to 60ms so yeah it would be terrible for FPS or fast reaction games, but to the untrained eye, and playing a casual single player game, it would be fine. Sorry if I offended you, dear serious gamer

Didn't think I needed to mention this would be **** for FPS games because pretty much all TV's are **** for fps games unless you're paying in the multiple thousands.

This is a TV, not a monitor, I wasn't reviewing it like it was a monitor.

Love comments like that, picked the Philips 43pus6401 yesterday and great tv for the money, picture shocking out of box but few tweaks great set, SD pic are soft as upscaler not the best, Android bit sluggish but with 1080p / 4k no issues.

Anyone with this can you tell what size stand does it need, measured the one I have at the moment that holds a 50" tv but it has the stand in the middle. The tv stand is 80cm wide at the front, how far are the legs away from the side of the tv?

Cheers.

The Legs are 90cm apart at the widest point, so you'd need a TV stand at least least wide.

It's not as bad as the picture posted above, but there is some visible clouding, either Dubnut86 has received a faulty model or has the exposure way up on his camera

"Here are the picture settings I use on my Hisense H43M3000 TV:

Standard Picture Mode Settings

Apply Picture Mode = All Sources

HDR Picture Mode Settings (must be viewing HDR content on the TV to adjust HDR picture settings)

Apply Picture Mode = Current Source

Brightness = 42

Contrast = 42

Colour Saturation = 42

Aspect Ratio = Automatic

Backlight = Dynamic Backlight Control: Off and Backlight: 100

Advanced Picture Settings = Tint: 0 Sharpness: 2 Adaptive Contrast: Middle Colour Temperature: Standard Overscan: Off Noise Reduction: Off Colour Tuner: Colour Red settings = Hue: 0 Saturation: 0 Brightness: 0 Colour Green settings = Hue: 0 Saturation: 0 Brightness: 0 Colour Blue settings = Hue: 0 Saturation: 0 Brightness: 0 Colour Yellow settings = Hue: 0 Saturation: 0 Brightness: 0

To really see the kind of picture quality these settings deliver, download the 4K LG HDR demo video titled "LG Colors of Journey - HDR" from the following link: http://demo-uhd3d.com/fiche.php?cat=uhd&id=150.

Also download Samsung's SUHD Sensational Picture demo from the following link: http://demo-uhd3d.com/fiche.php?cat=uhd&id=92.

And lastly, I think this 4K video demo titled "LG Demo Garden" (which you can download from the following link: http://demo-uhd3d.com/fiche.php?cat=uhd&id=12), is good for testing the accuracy of colours the above picture settings I posted reproduce. red colours are red, black colours are black, green colours are green, and white colours are white as they should be."
