There are 3 main reasons why Yankee candles are expensive (and worth spending on):
Very nice selection of smells that actually smell like the descriptions.
They're strong enough to fill a room with the fragrance without overpowering everything.
The fragrance lasts for the whole candle which for the large jars is a very long time.
Generally cheap candles fail on at least 1 of the above. Not saying they're the best candles ever but you're unlikely to get one at a similar level of quality for much less than you'd pay for a Yankee candle.

Yankee Candles have gone rapidly downhill over the last few years. They smell great in the jar but don't throw off much of a scent when lit.
I've got two of their Halloween range lit in my small front room and can barely smell them.,

Warning! Very disappointed in Boots. Just drove 30 mile 1 hour round trip to Chepstow branch to buy a set that according to the Boots website stock check option was in stock.
Guess what it wasn’t. The Manageress told me they hadn’t had any. What’s the point of having a check store stock option, it can’t be trusted. How many more stores could I spend hours visiting just to be let down!

Seems you can edit your post with the correct date and not the incorrect one that you originally posted and that will result in my post which had the correct date on it and was featured on Facebook and had over 1000 degrees gets deleted . Thats fair ....... not ..

If at all possible put the jars on the floor or in one of those glass lanterns and candles smell so much stronger that way.
Someone else posted that tip on another thread as I was complaining an Angels wings one wasn't strong but I could smell it a lot more after placing it in a lantern.
