I can confirm you can play same copy on pc and xb1 using 2 different gamertags simultaneously. I have a pc and I gameshare gears 4 with an xb1 player. We play horde together. We went halves on a 70 quid ultimate eidtion. Haven't tried gamesharing 2 win 10 users at same time. Doubt that would work.

Its free for pc players. I play with my xb1 friends private versus most nights. I also have xb1 but my live sub expired last month and haven't needed to turn it on yet.

Cheers still good enough for now hopefully that might change in the future? Also read that Xbox live gold subscription is not required for W10 gamers so that's a bonus

It's only campaign and horde that's crossplay, I don't think you'll be able to play with your mates in versus which is the one that counts tbh.

Potentially silly question - I am about to get this for my PC. In order to play online with mates on XB1 do I need to re-activate my old Xbox live account or is it free to play Windows games online?

It's not P2P, it's just a terrible download client although the Anniversary Edition fixed a lot of problems with it for me.

Wish I could check the download progress, when I left this morning it was only on 28gb.
Hopefully it hasn't hit an error message and idled for the rest of the day.

Considering someone has already reversed the advanced protection that they added for Forza Horizon 3 for Windows 10, it seems that UWP isn't quite as locked down as Microsoft said that it would be.

That's a shame. Although might be possible to enforce due to UWP's locked down nature.

A good idea, however the minority would spoil it by using device emulation to gain an advantage.

​Hi, yes you can play coop with someone on PC and Xbox One. But you don't get 2 codes, it ties to your live account. And I tested this last night. If the Xbox One detects that you are playing the game on another device, it asks that you stop playing before you can continue on the Xbox. so if you were thinking about going half's it won't work. Unless you game share with the other friend you speak about. Whoever has the PC, you should give the Home console permission to your friend, then purchase the game, it will sync over to you Xbox and Windows 10, and your friend will be able to access the game on his Xbox too. That way, you get around the single purchase but have the game on 3 devices. This is the method I used and can confirm it works.

This will actually be my first time playing Gears with a mouse and keyboard. I'm quite looking forward to it actually.

​Yeah, since they can use mouse and keyboard and also alter the FOV to give a greater area of visible screen then it would likely cause some complaints from Xbox one try hards. I wouldn't care really, as I play on PC with my controller and still kick the **** out of 90% of the people I'm playing against. That's a shame but understandable I suppose. PC players could probably get a bit of an unfair advantage in competitive multiplayer and Microsoft just love to try to involve Gears in all of that ESports nonsense.

​Actually I tried to have a multiplayer game with my friend on Xbox one while I was playing on PC and it does not allow it. The only modes that work over the cross play are horde, and campaign coop. multiplayer is separate. The play anywhere slogan is actually more to do with your Xbox profile being cross compatible with saves and progress.

It's crossplay so the multiplayer will not be going anywhere for a long time.

Just a case of whether or not you can put up with the endless disparaging remarks towards the activities of your mother from the console kids I suppose. From my experience, multiplayer Gears communities on the Xbox can get pretty toxic.

I got the game for free with my new graphics card and I've had nothing but trouble trying to download it from the Windows Store. The download keeps stalling, resetting, giving me error messages, etc. It's got up to 60GB out of 73GB and then the progress has been reset when I restart my computer; it's got up to 50GB before and then when I paused it and resumed it the download restarted.

I haven't been able to play the game because of issues with the Windows Store, so I highly recommend avoiding it.

how is the online community for windows 10 games in general? I want this but I have a feeling the community on PC will die fairly quickly

I think he means that Xbox owners can get a disc version for much less from Amazon, the Supermarket etc. You could pick up the disc versions for as little as £28 on pre-order last month.

Let's face it though, those days are numbered at this point.

Few people who have issues downloading on PC, if you don't download to C drive you may get an error. Once downloaded and installed you can move to another drive.

have you actually opted into the anniversary update? as i understand it the standard windows is unto date is not anniversary unless you opted into it

Does anyone know if the previous Gears games will work on 360? It says they will on Xbox One but I wanted to see if I am able to grab them on Xbox 360 (even though I have them on my 360 via disc, would be nice for a digital copy :P).

I tested it with my brothers ultimate edition. I could play on his game on xbox while he was on PC but theres no way to play on PC while hes on xbox unless I use his account - and if you play on the same account it just throws up an error and asks if you want to close the other game.

Ahhh soo tempted yet soo poor. Damn it... Download size seems ridiculous too. That would probably take me a full day of downloading at max speed to get it :S.

​You are not being forced to do anything. It's a pretty standard digital price, but if you happen to have Xbox and PC then you are treated with the bonus second copy. Very similar to that of the PlayStation cross buy scheme across their PS Vita, PS3 and PS4 with certain titles.

It's possibly the best PC game of recent times, in terms of graphics, performance and multiplayer (the latter being my opinion of course), yet everyone seems to find something to moan about.

Digital price are on the up, and have been for a while, even Steam has triple A titles being sold at 39.99 now, rather the £29.99 only a year or 2 ago, and even then, there was a 10% off when pre ordering on most of them too.

Wait for a sale, but if you like Gears of War, this is the best of the bunch online.

My understanding is that I would sign into the Windows Store using his details. Once the download has started (or completed?) I can sign back into my account and we can play online simultaneously.

We've tried running the same copy on two consoles and that worked fine.

Tried getting a credit from support to match the launch drop in price. No go. Think its disgraceful to be honest.

Bought the ultimate edition on ebay for £70 the night before the early release. Downloaded it on Win 10 with no hiccups. Not sure how long it took but started at midnight, went to bed, and woke up at 6am to see it finished. Downloaded xbox one version this weekend and that was painfully slow but again just happened in background. To top it off, found a person to gameshare and paid me £35. Not bad for £35 considering i really need the maps in private match as my mates all want to play them but didnt want to fork out for the UE. This is an OK price.... sure it will be cheaper soon.

Believe the reason for this is because PC users would be OP against console gamers pinging headshots left right and centre.

really wish i had a cheap version of forza horizon 3 for pc, but it is not discounted anywhere and i refuse to pay those prices for a PC game, ive gotten very fond of cheap games

plus i dont know how much i would actually play it, so £50 plus for a game i want to try seems a scandal as i don't have an xbox one, feel like us pc guys are getting the raw deal

Been reduced on the xbox one dashboard from £ 49.99 down to this price too.

That and its all "Microsoft Credit" now anyway, ends up in the same wallet in my personal experience.

on a PC the xbox version is showing £49.99 on Xbox.com but the PC version on the MS website is showing the cheaper price, strange. I got the disk version anyway from Amazon for £34 so not too bad but its yet to be dispatched which is a bummer.
