What's it with the 'hotel' TV? Are most of the features missing, like stripped to the bone? Thought it might be the full HD Sammy

Agree you don't get those 8 channels - but in your case you are already a Sky customer who likes the sky specific channels. for £10/month i cant really justify it.

Im not a sob - but that is a RUBBISH TV, would have been great circa 2008 - this offer genuinely isn't worth it - original sky is no better than Freeview. The TV specs aren't worth the £129.75... Just my view.

Hi, I tried to get this offer. After entering data, it goes to the "Choose rewards" page and just hangs and eventually times out saying could not process order..please contact us via 08 number..
Anyone else come across this ? I did not want to call, as it may invalidate the cashback

I've just tried to order now and got the exact same thing. I called the 0800 number, and asked them why this is case... I was told that their website was "probably broken" but that they could sign me up to the deal over the telephone. When I told the lady that I was after the Top Cashback deal as well she had to speak to her manager, who could apparently not match the cashback and only offer £30 credit to my Sky account once setup.... so I said I'd leave it... lady then said something about the Top Cashback site not being reliable, and to try the Sky website again because it "might work properly later"!?

Also worth noting that the whole Sky Q Fluid Viewing experience on tablets is only possible with a Multiscreen subscription
Just buy a freesat box and plug it in. Single or twin feed depending on your set top box. If you need more outputs just buy a new lnb on eBay and run the coax cable where you want it.
So long as you have coax cable connected to your dish it's the same as coax cable to a tv aerial. Sky and freesat operate on the same dish alignment and a single dish can service sky and freesat simultaneously.

I got this package last week (plus movies). At the time there was no offer for a free TV. Do you reckon Sky are likely to budge on it for me? What's the cooling off period once installed? It's been in 5 days.
HankHandsome to BuzzDuraband
24 Oct 16#11
Give it a punt, but try on live chat first as they'll be more likely to try and work something out.
If you didn't get any offers of free gifts though then maybe you don't qualify as a "new" customer ?

i suppose i'm probably happy i didn't have to push through with it and find out
Their t's & c's are certainly exhaustive but i think a small claims action could potentially have done something as it could have at least forced them to reveal who the "other retailer" was who was paid the cashback.
HankHandsome
24 Oct 16#8
I got this deal with Quidco who had it at £110 cashback, but I chose the £100 giftcard instead of the TV.
Funnily enough, I've been in dispute with Quidco about another cashback claim they denied due to it apparently being paid to "another retailer" and, as a result of me threatening court action, they've cleared this sky cashback out of their own funds and it's hitting my account this week

Is court action even a viable threat? Don't their T&C's cover them and basically waive all liability? Just wandering

I'm not sure which leads come with it but I doubt if any leads would get re-used,definitely keep your HD lead,I have a couple of mates who work as techs with VM and as long as they get the boxes back I don't think they'll bother.

24 Oct 16#32
Does that also mean the white cable that fixes from the box on the wall to the Tivo box? Just wondering, I had quite a lot of leads behind the tv set and can't remember which ones came with the Tivo box - I have a thick scart lead - which I think belongs to Virgin Media and also a gold HD lead - I am sure that I supplied this HD lead but am not 100% sure - do you know what leads were supplied for the Tivo box and tv connection (not including the white one), as I don't want to return the gold HD lead if it is mine? Thank you.

Still a FreeSat box that you won't have to buy at the end of your Sky contract vs. them giving you a Sky Q box and taking it away, however I do appreciate what you're saying... in the grand scheme of things it's pittance, but hey, we're here for a bargain eh..?

24 Oct 161#29
Considering the cashback amount I was in dispute over was for "only" £25 quid, it's all a bit of a mystery to me as well but i'm not complaining though - I wasn't expecting it until february at the earliest for one thing, but also I had actually changed my bundle from "Original" to "Box Sets" before I joined so they could have easily just refused it on the grounds that I had broken the T's & C's due to that change.

You keep everything. The new Sky Q boxes you need to return but you keep the satellite.
Virgin are different, they own all the hardware so you need to return everything once your contract finishes with them.

Got this deal a couple of months ago but it was an LG, can't say about the Samsung but the LG was 720p and only 1 hdmi port. So it might be worth researching which TV it is. Having said that it's pretty good and is in my kitchen with a now TV box. I also added another free sat box for my bedroom as they wanted £12 a month for multi room. Easy enough to fit your self

My contract is for one year, so if I decide that I do not want to be with Sky after that, surely I would have to return the Sky dish and Sky+HD box, etc as well? I've just been sent a box by Virgin Media, and they want me to return their Tivo box, router, remote, etc - say etc, as they are saying all cables - do they mean the white cables going around the room as well that connected to the tv and my modem? Thank you.

24 Oct 16#23
Personally speaking I'd rather they gave me the Sky HD box. At least I get to keep it at the end of the contract. From what I understand, the only real benefit of the new Q boxes are they have even more recording feeds? And I guess you can use it as a WiFi repeater for your Sky broadband.
Both of these features would be negligible to me but each to their own.

I took out a deal with the free LG box and cashback from Quidco - took the tv package, phone, and the internet. It was all installed just over a week ago, however, they gave me the Sky+HD box instead of the Q one that they are giving to all their new customers now - really wish I had waited a few weeks so that I could have had the Q box instead.
