Thought this was a good price - not often you get extra virgin olive oil for £1.67/ litre. Lidl agent told me this will be national as Lidl have lost patience with slow-moving remnants of last month's XXL week so are knocking them out 30% off. Worth checking out.
Thanks.

This is no more extra virgin than Madonna when she sang "Like a Virgin".

not a very tasty oil, prefer branded olive oil

Well obviously a bottle of branded, at three times the price, will be nicer. But I buy this sort of oil for day to day cooking in things where the quality taste of good oil would be lost, and nice oil for where the taste will be prominent - dressings etc.

They are still the old price in Tamworth. a wasted journey.

If available at this price, its more likely excess stock available from the September special, Olive oil prices are expected to increase in prices as a result of poor harvest this year and FX rates, so I would be very surprised to see them dropping prices on extra virgin olive oil.

yep I think it's quite fruity & pleasant as well - certainly good enough to use with salads etc where the taste matters most
if you're not Italian, you may not have thought to do this: get a good fresh crusty bit of bread and slosh on some olive oil, pinch of good salt & for the hell of it a grind of black pepper if you like - it allows you to appreciate how good your olive oil tastes
the Lidl olive oil passes my 'taste test' criteria perfectly well - a good oil normally at a perfectly reasonable everyday price

Good price if you can find stock. I have been looking for it for a few weeks now but none in the Ramsgate branch.

Why did I waste my time going looking for this? Of course they had no stock.
Remove "National" from the title - it ain't.

Favourite Olive oil for us, having just discovered it when it was on the XXLspecial in September, much better taste than the branded ones.
