I've been waiting for a decent price on the DM40 to replace an ancient similar Onkyo mini Hifi. I was hoping to get the unit alone for £150-160 at some point (current best price £189).
However, looking at this deal (received by email), the bundled speakers are priced at £159 just about everywhere, so together, the package looks keenly priced.
The price quoted is for VIP members (easy to join on website and you need to mention you're a VIP to get the £299 price (£349 on website)
Q. Would these speakers be much of an upgrade on the Richer Sounds bog-standard Wharfedale Diamonds? or even Q acoustics 2020i?

Just bought this set up from Richer Sounds in Newcastle- £370 (including 4m. speaker cable, £5 per metre) .Bit of a novice regards the sound systems these days but looked at loads of reviews etc. for weeks and took the plunge today. 2 sets of speakers tested with the DM40 'in-shop' - the LX2's and Wharfdales, the latter just didn't sound as good.

Looks like Mission may be going back to good speakers of yesteryear.

Got a mint pair of 25 year old mission 760`s would the LX2 be a better speaker?

Depends on what type of music you listen to regarding the speakers. If you listen to rock, dance or rap etc I've got the MX1s and they are great. I tried loads of combos with my DM39 and was most happy with mission. I preferred slightly the 2020i or zensor 1 for some acoustic guitar and classical but overall the missions were best for my needs as I tend to use headphones for more chilled stuff anyway. I've not tried the LX2 but just giving my opinion on the missions I own.

The DM40 on its own is often priced at £179.99..... and it will be again with RS's usual yo yo prices.
Not heard the LX2 speakers, but i would assume the bass is better than the Wharfedales, if its Diamond 9's you have.

You would assume correct if they are like the MX1s. They are also much better speakers from the wharfedales when I tried a load with the DM39 you could tell they weren't as good.

I would also say that the whatfedales should be at least the equal of these speakers.

A. I am not sure of the answer to your question about speakers. Apologies.

hi, in my opinion,no. as long as you have decent speaker cable, the existing warfdalrs would be fine. save yourself the extra cost.
