Amazing series. After having friends recommend it to me for the last couple of years I'm watching for the first time on Sky Box Sets. Robin Weigert's Calamity Jane is a brilliant character. My only problem is that after I watch a couple of episodes I find myself swearing like a trooper for ages afterwards!

Didn't they ****-up the sound on this release?

Yes on a previous release. This release has one or two episodes where the lip sync is off but I easily fixed this by adjusting the delay on my home cinema. The gain in picture and sound quality is worth this hassle imo. One of the greatest shows of all time.

Fantastic deal for a wonderful show. Why they didn't make more series of this is one of life's great mysteries.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. I have sound through my TV so can't adjust the delay. And to be honest, I shouldn't even have to. For one of the best TV shows ever, and from a big enough studio, this release should have been perfect the first time. Then to re-issue and STILL get it wrong... honestly, the incompetence is mind boggling. I mean, just how hard can it be to get the audio and picture in sync?!?

So they never fixed the lip sync issue? How bad is it?

I've just finished watching the whole box set. I think the only two affected episodes were early in the second season. I think I had to set the delay to 120ms on my setup. Not ideal by any standard but it does get around the issue and after having originally watched this on DVD, the increase in sound and picture quality is worth it. If you cannot adjust the sound delay I'd stick with DVD though as it would definitely grate, albeit for a couple of episodes.

I bought the supposedly "fixed" release new from Amazon about 6 months ago. Following internet reports, I went straight to series 1 episode 4. Started watching with fingers crossed, but the audio was way out of sync. Sent the boxset straight back. Real shame because as others have said, this is a great show with fantastic characters and some of the best dialogue ever written.

I agree with you, in fact I've held off buying this for years due to the previous unavailability of a blu ray box set then the issues that were present on the first blu Ray release. But I think the chance of a third release of this series on blu ray are slim so in weighing up my options and bearing in mind I'm able to adjust the time delay on my setup I think it was worth the hassle for the big upgrade in picture and sound quality.
Having said all that-the sound sync should definitely have been perfect prior to release!

How frustrating. Sounds like it needs a fan release of these two eps...

awful show - swearing doesn't make entertainment, it's just an excuse for poor script writing.

I say:
If you can keep your head when all about you,
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken,
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute,
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
—you’ll be a Man, my son!
