I was looking for some new trial running shoes for the winter (or I just won't run at all even on road).
Found these at £40 with free delivery using code VC12FREE (once you put in the code click on free delivery option top left). Lots of sizes. 4% quidco too.
The reviews look good on them all. Seen different reviews saying the shoe is narrow and is wide which makes me think I should stop looking at reviews or just people have different feet and feel different about different things. I'm not a fan of buying shoes online but the savings are high enough for me to take a punt and reviews of Footasylum seem to suggests they are pretty good on returns.
Website blurb:
Columbia Ventralia II Outdry Trainers in Dark Grey and Black. Fully waterproof, the Ventralia is a lightweight flexible trail shoe with optimized breathability, cooling and comfort. OutDRY® construction with TECHLITE™ energy-returning midsole.

These shoes seem to be used by most buyers for hiking / walking.
Anyone any idea what they are like for running??

Used to like Merrel but got fed up of guessing the correct size to buy, these have been spot on and really comfy too

Merrell sizing is weird, but it is consistent. 9 or 9.5 in sandals and 10 in shoes for me. If i tried on a 9 in shoes I would have to cut my toes off.

Shall I order one size larger as amazon reviews prove this need to be 0.5 size larger. But there is no 10.5 in here. Only 11. Should I order 11?

ok, got mine today and tried a small run round the block. Obviously a lot heavier than my running shoes. Through the woods or a really wet day I would use these, on dry road - no puddles etc would use my normal running shoes. They are flexible out of the box.
I have large wide feet and normally take 9.5 and ordered 9 and these are a perfect fit. Was wearing merino wool socks which are not too thick. Using my seal skinz waterproof socks I think they will still fit and be snug.
I'm happy with them.

I live in a rural area and wet grass and mud is a part of daily life and my adidas trainers were getting me wet feet too often. Wearing boots isn't always such a good idea, especially when driving. These are amazingly nice trainers, supremely comfortable, feel very high quality and look great. The sizing is bang on. They are probably the best trainers I have ever owned, at least in recent memory.

Well....screwed over by Footasylum....TWICE over these......such a shambles of an operation IMO. I would have a sneaky suspicion that customer orders are getting canned for staff to snap the deals.
First order on Tuesday cancelled and refunded due to no stock.
Then, while on with an operator....verified stock of a different colour....ordered......received a Royal Mail special delivery dispatched notification with delivery slot.....waited......nothing.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday...nothing.
Phoned today and they didn't send it.....didn't know why.....no stock now....said sorry...offered refund.
That's twice.
Meanwhile....they have sat on my payments for 2 pairs of shoes for nearly a week now.....with no foxes given.
I think I would rather perform an enema based operation on myself with a cactus dipped in vinegar than EVER shop with the halfwits at Footarsylum again.
Half
Wits.

That sucks. Mine was quite flawless with delivery
I am noticing a bit more stiffness in these trainers than my normal running trainers but I'm probably not using them on the intended terrain I got them for - soft ground. But I am noticing the waterproofing which is great.
Quidco tracked at 2% too (not 4%) as when you use a voucher it's the lower amount which I didn't realise at time of posting.

If you want Columbia Ventralia I they are here with fewer sizes at £35 http://www.footasylum.com/columbia-ventrailia-outdry-trainer-098303/ They look to be a different shape and I'm not sure the £5 is worth it for the 2nd version?
If you are after a walking shoe the Conspiracy is here at £35 (lots of sizes) http://www.footasylum.com/columbia-conspiracy-iv-outdry-trainer-103501/
