Never been as good since they stopped them being made in GB 80s or 90s.

Yes found that a bit odd, no kids sale! Just suggest you keep your eyes peeled, hopefully not far away from kids offers. Thats why I use Clarks as well for kids shoes.

Just went on the Hotter Shoes website, yes some great bargains to be had there, not.
Great deal OP, I find it funny when people say this isn't as good as it used to be and stuff like that - yes we get it, you're old.

I still wear Clarks shoes because they are good.
I'm still arguing with the Footwear Department, a company whos products I would never buy again, I purchased two pairs of shoes from them and both pairs soles cracked within a few months unlike Clarks which last literally years..
If you say there are better and made in GB tell us who and where .

You'd be lucky to get standard size leather shoes for 22 quid never mind size 13. I'm assuming you've tried the shipyard?
All depends what you want them for.
Timings important too with Hotter.
The boots are great. I've had their "Viking" Gore-tex boots for work for 5 years and they're as good as ever (even with my crappy feet and ankles -- after 3 operations they're worse than ever !) They tend to do summer/spring selections and winter types and have a clearance sale twice a year which is always worth dropping in for (theres a Hotter store in Newcastle tho' 80% of the shoes are for women)
They're expensive but VERY comfortable, and last forever it seems. I got my father in law into them and he won't buy any other now

I used to like the old days as a child, try the clarks shoes, and stand on the machine that x-ray your feet, to see if you had room in them. I do not think those machines would be legal now.

Quality of Clarks is terrible. For real quality get Cheaney, Loake, Trickers, Grenson etc and expect to pay more. Clarks is just cheap throw away, rubbish same as Tesco, M&S et al.

Re Clarks quality:
The comments here would have been correct for this time last year. BUT... this has changed I think over the last 12 months. I recently revisited Clarks store and found the quality of the shoes to be much better. Pop in your local one and see what you think.
Of course, you can get better quality by paying more but Clarks has raised their game!
I recently bought 4 pairs from a Clarks outlet which had some cracking deals, worth a visit if you have one nearby...
A little advice - Look at Clarks Desert Boots. I didn't know until recently that Clarks are world renowned for making desert boots. You will see them recommended on many fashion blogs. Also look at their wingtip brogues which are also very nice..

I used to absolutely adore Clarks Desert Boots.
The quality nosedived after closing the British factory, build quality was atrocious.
I noticed they'd started making them again, but suspicious that they're any better.
Stilll.....if, as you say the quality control in the Far East has improved from zero to actually checking them....
After a quick check, one caught my eye. It was £100.
If I was paying that much, I'd still be buying from Hotter. British made and proven quality

I bought a pair of shoes last week on their birthday sale, no free shipping, but those shoes(along with many others) aren't even showing on their website today(not even as being out of stock - just vanished)
Shoes are good quality BUT Hermes.......................god I hate that company. Bought Friday morning and website still says "Order Placed" God damn, cheap and useless couriers.

Just be careful, found the same 'sale' shoes cheaper from their outlet site, before accounting for the fact there is currently a 20% code available for outlet (ends today), stackable with 10.5% TCB

does anyone know how long the sale is on for? Also how do clarks fitting compare to normal shoes. Do they fit bigger, smaller or shall i order exact size?
Thanks

18 Oct 16#52
Not sure about length of sale. Think they are a normal fit, but you can return free if no good. Also if you are near a shop, you can get delivered to shop and try. Under no obligation to keep.

I do feel Clarks have a high opinion of themselves these days. They charge a lot of money for shoes that aren't as good as they used to be. We got some school shoes from Dietchman for 1/3 of what Clarks charge and they have lasted longer due to better soles.
