Citroen c1 feel on 18 month contract 10k miles £99 initial £99 a month including vat. £360 process fee from v4b. Seems a good price for a run around and other price options as well.

Citroen are indeed French.
However the C1,108 and Aygo are built in Slovakia.
This means your husband is geographically more French than this car.

Car manufacturers still seem to get their reputations from the 80's and 90's.
People still think that VW are the pinnacle in reliability, think a fiat or alfa will rot, peugeot and citroen have dodgy electrics and that Jags are for old men.

Can someone please explain how much you need to cover on GAP insurance?
Is it the value of the car when it's written off against the value of the car when it's taken out of lease?
e.g.
£7500 - £10000 therefore the GAP is £2500

Is gap insurance necessary? And how much more are you usually looking at?

Not necessary but advised and think its called gap123 is cheap enough prob £10 a month but thats a guessamate.

Fair comment, guess it's hard for French companies to shake off that perception of poor quality and reliability from days gone by unlike Skoda who really seem to have nailed it.

My point is the same total cost but for 24 months. There's been better deals for the C1 than this.
Hope this clears it up.

Cracking car but not a great deal unfortunately. If it was 24 months for this price then it's a winner it's a Meh for me

Yeah unfortunately regular deals on here for £84-89 /month with 8k miles and £250 deposit. So not that hot IMHO but might be OK for some.

It's 99 down and 99 a month, what difference would 24 months make ????

Mechanical failures ie the arm rest on a Citroen snapped when leaned on(the metal beam), difficult and expensive to maintain ie try and access the spare tyre in a Renault or change a light bulb.

Do you just have to buy fuel and insurance? Do you need anything special like GAP insurance?
What happens if a tyre gets a puncture? Would it need servicing in the first 2 years?
Seanwinf to Hpi_matrix
7 Oct 16#34
Gap insurance is a good idea for the pennies it costs a month. It is just fuel and insurance which is 100% needed though. Its not maintened so if you had a puncture u would have to repair yourself. And 1 service would be needed as its an 18 month deal.

i would rather lease than do this eg: skoda yeti deal, C4 etc
If you go direct to Citroen you don't pay that £360 admin fee. We got the same deal last year.

got the same car on a different deal few months ago, great little runer! The only issue is the gearbox and the clucth is sh**e! Otherwise not to shabby for the price, does fine on the motorway as well.

Me too, many years of Citroens and only problem ever encountered was with air conditioning which does seem a weak point as I know others who have had the same issue. I had a C1 as a courtesy car while mine was being serviced last week. I was surprised how nice it was, the only complaint I would have was the amount of sound coming from the road, wouldn't fancy it for long motorway drives.

I don't like French cars, dodgy electrics.
I had the pleasure of driving a Peugeot 407 for a while and the electric wing mirrors would randomly fold in and stay there whilst I was cruising on the motorway.
Only way I could fix it was by pulling across to the hard shoulder (carefully) and turning off the ignition to reset it.

It's irrelevant what make a car is really. I'm leasing a Ford Focus ST expecting no problems especially with the electrics and Ford have already had it back 3 times as the clock doesn't tell the time. Not a whinge just an observation

Jeez. Citroen are a French company but this isn't a 'French' car! It's effectively made to Toyota standards many miles from France. Just thought I'd clear that up for the hard of understanding....
PS Not a bad deal but not a great one imo. Lease deals (similarly to buying outright deals!) get cheaper the closer we get to a new reg date. Certainly this car has been as cheap as 100 quid a month all in over 18 months just before the start of September...though IIRC it did involve a higher initial payment (500 initial plus 360 admin plus 57/mth so just over 1800 quid for the term). But, at the moment, this is the cheapest deal so heat added.

I'm 6 months into a similar deal. If anyone is having any doubts about this car I would say go for it. Huge interior considering size, I'm 6 ft 3 (it's the wife's car) but I fit fine even with the kids behind.
Spec is great, really nippy round town but manages fine on the occasional motorway commute. Can't say enough good things about it tbh.
