It comes to something when I've decided that actually having the magazine isn't worth the hassle. It's so much easier to just get all my gaming news from the internet, plus you get video. I wouldn't read the magazine and it would go straight into recycling. It would actually be a waste of £1.61 for me. Feel a bit sorry for anyone involved with gaming magazines really, I used to love them back in the day.

As far as I am aware, the cheapest current price for a (new) copy of DS3 is £21.99 at Base.

£1.61 for a 6 month subscription to Xbox: The Official Magazine is a bargain. Heated :smiley:

Yes its only a six month sub, i tried 2 different browsers but did not have any luck, link took me to euro site and only one option was available at checkout to pay (cont cc)..weird.

Magazine usually has a decent free gift in and usually a decent read while you're at work or uni and can't load up various websites haha.

The deal for the game only counts if you get the print alone, or print and digital.

Digital only doesn't get you the free game. I think your edit confuses the issue.

Does anyone who has taken a deal like this before know if the game comes before your sub starts or with the first issue?

If it's with first issue then I'm going to have a long wait as I set the start date to the January issue (default is Christmas one) as I had a active trial sub I wanted to get full use of first but never considered the possibility it could hold up the gift.

Not the end of the world either way as I still have the first and second games on my 'to play' list so it will still probably come before I've done the first two anyway.....

Thanks OP, signed up for £23.60. Will rid Dark Souls and the Xbox mags will be read on night duties at work! One thing though is can people see their accounts ok when signed in? My webpage got stuck on the checkout process but I got an e-mail with an order number saying successful etc. Just wary it's not gone through correctly.

When the order goes through you get this message:

No mention of the game or when you'll get it :/

This seems most likely IMHO, as if they sent the game out too soon before the subscription was started people could probably just cancel the DD and keep the game for free so they probably want to ensure cleared payment before they release the game.

The thing I wonder though is if you select a later start issue does that mean you have to wait longer for the game? As I chose the January 17 issue rather than Xmas as my existing trial sub already includes that issue....

I placed the order at the end of my lunch break, about 1pm. I already had an account with them as I had taken out a subscription a few years ago. Maybe this helped speed things up? I was surprised by how quickly it came.

I've just received an email saying they've exhausted all the supply of the subscription gift and are not able to obtain more. I have two options, receive a refund, or they'll substitute an alternative gift of similar value.

Here's the full text:

After following up on the action I have two alternative options, batman Arkham Knight or MGS V in steel bookcase.

I went for MGS btw, as was looking at this earlier in the year too.

On mine it said the payment date was on the 18th of November when i logged into my account, but because i've already cancelled it i cancelled the direct debit with my bank. Maybe you could do the same just to make sure no payments come out?

Thanks, already cancelled the direct debit, just couldn't remember if it was a card payment up front. Strangely after cancelling the other week, I've just received an email saying sorry you've cancelled, your last issue will be May 2017!
